Being right next to the river is a huge advantage for those looking for water-based activities.

While the reviews highlight the natural challenges, such as ticks and somewhat difficult river access from the immediate campsite, these aspects are part of the primitive experience and can be managed with proper preparation (bug spray, tweezers, appropriate clothing). The existence of a "beautiful beach area... on the other side of the river" suggests that rewarding river access is indeed available with a little effort. For Oklahomans who are prepared for a rustic, self-sufficient camping trip and prioritize natural beauty and peace over extensive amenities, Luper's Hole Campground offers an unparalleled opportunity to create lasting memories in the heart of Oklahoma's scenic river country. It’s a genuine wilderness experience, perfect for those ready to embrace the wild side of the Sooner State.
Had a great time camping here with the family. It was beautiful and right next to the river. You can't really access the river from this side, and you have to walk thru bamboo and poison ivy to get to it. There's a beautiful beach area... on the other side of the river. Don't forget your bug spray, tweezers, and rubbing alcohol. If you bring your dogs, make sure they are up to date on their flea and tick meds. There are TICKS EVERYWHERE! Despite all the precautions, we still had ticks on us.
