Methodist Landing Recreational Park is more than just a campground; it’s a community hub where residents can connect with nature and each other. Visitors often praise its "well kept park area" and its serene location "right next to the water." Whether you're looking for a quiet spot to cast a line, a convenient launch for your boat, or a spacious area to host a family reunion, Methodist Landing has something to offer. This address places it directly on the shores of Anacoco Lake, a significant recreational body of water in Vernon Parish. Leesville itself is a well-known city in West Central Louisiana, making the park easily accessible for residents from various parts of the state.

The approach to the park is generally straightforward, and its lakeside setting ensures beautiful views and direct water access, which is a major draw for boaters and anglers. Its location within Vernon Parish means it's part of a region known for its outdoor opportunities, including proximity to Kisatchie National Forest, though Methodist Landing focuses specifically on lake-based activities. The park is gated, providing an added layer of security and controlled access for its users, operating on a pay-per-use basis with a required permit for entry.

  • Electrical Hookups: All 12 campsites have electricity. It's noted that while electricity is available, there are "NO RV Hook Ups available" for sewer, meaning RVers might need to use portable waste tanks or plan for off-site dump stations. However, water is available within the park.
  • Water Access: Running water is available within the park, with the supply coming from West Vernon Waterworks. This is convenient for drinking, cooking, and general use.
  • Restrooms and Showers: The park provides bathrooms and showers for campers, which are essential amenities for a comfortable stay. One review mentioned issues with cleanliness and bugs in the ladies' restrooms, suggesting it's an area that could see improvement for an even better visitor experience.
  • Enclosed Pavilion: A significant feature is the "large building" or enclosed pavilion, which is "well put to accommodate a large group." This makes it ideal for family reunions, gatherings, or community events. While it offers good ventilation, a past reviewer suggested that fans would help keep it cooler during the hotter summer months.
  • Fish-Cleaning Station: For anglers, a dedicated fish-cleaning station is a practical and appreciated amenity, making it easy to prepare your catch.
  • Public Boat Ramp and Dock Area: Direct access to Anacoco Lake is provided via a public boat ramp and a dock area, perfect for launching boats, kayaks, or canoes.
  • Covered Picnic Areas with Tables and Charcoal Grills: Numerous covered picnic areas with tables and charcoal grills are available for day use, offering comfortable spots for outdoor meals and relaxation.

Well kept park area, signage posted for water hazards. The large building is well put to accommodate a large group. The only issue is the building needs to have fans to cool the interior down, the ventilation is good but fans at both ends would keep it cooler during hotest hours of the days/summer. Ladies restrooms need to be fumigated, lots of nasty bugs & spiders, kinda smelly, some deficate (nasty people!!), left on toilets.
