Introduction / Overview: Your Niagara Falls Gateway in Youngstown, NY
For New York residents eager to explore the natural and historical wonders of Western New York, the
Niagara Falls North / Lewiston KOA Journey offers a well-known and strategically positioned basecamp. Located in the quiet, scenic town of Youngstown, NY, this campground serves as a primary hub for visitors utilizing RVs, travel trailers, or seeking cabin and tent camping near one of the world's most famous natural attractions. Operating under the trusted KOA brand, the facility is designed to provide essential amenities and a convenient location for travelers on the road.
P
The campground’s identity as a KOA Journey—a designation focused on accessibility for travelers—means its core mission is to provide an easy-in, easy-out experience with reliable, necessary facilities. This makes it an ideal stopover for New Yorkers touring the state or a convenient, multi-day base for exploring Niagara Falls and the historic village of Lewiston. Reviews indicate that the campground is a place of function over frills, often praised for being quiet, having super clean restrooms, and offering a friendly staff experience.
P
However, prospective campers should note the balance of opinions. While many visitors appreciate the "price is right" and the functional nature of the park, some critique the older nature of the campground, mentioning aspects like tight sites for large RVs and gravel roads. This suggests that the KOA is an excellent, practical choice for those prioritizing proximity to attractions and essential services, and less so for those seeking a modern, resort-style camping experience with expansive sites and pristine park infrastructure. It is a solid, working campground that provides a reliable roof and a necessary rest stop for New Yorkers on an adventure.

Proximity to Attractions: The campground’s strategic location is arguably its biggest asset for New York travelers. It is situated approximately 12 miles north of the magnificent Niagara Falls State Park, making it a short, direct drive to the Maid of the Mist, Cave of the Winds, and Seneca Niagara Casino. Furthermore, it is just minutes away from the historic village of Lewiston, known for its quaint shops and restaurants, and Old Fort Niagara, a beautifully preserved landmark at the mouth of the Niagara River on Lake Ontario. This excellent positioning allows New Yorkers to easily access key landmarks without excessive driving.
P
Road Accessibility: The KOA is easily reachable from major routes. Directions often guide visitors from Interstate 190 (exit 25B) onto the Niagara Scenic Parkway North toward Fort Niagara, with a simple turn onto Pletcher Road. Its location also offers a direct route to the Canadian border via the Queenston Bridge, providing easy access to both sides of the falls for New Yorkers with appropriate travel documents.
P
While some reviews mention that the drive into Niagara Falls passes through older areas, the location itself is in a quieter, country setting in Youngstown, offering a peaceful retreat after a busy day of sightseeing.

Nice campground, close to the falls and the boarder. It is definitely an older campground. Bathrooms were super clean. No frills. We were gone most of the time exploring. The price is right. If you have kids I would try another place. They have some stuff for small children. The pool is there, looks like above ground pool in the ground from how it appears. We were here in Sept so not sure if it is. Otherwise we had a nice time. Gentleman was very friendly.
Sep 17, 2025 · Michelle StaggersThis KOA is very run down. We were in our 40’ motorhome with a toad. Roads and lots are gravel with pot holes and grass growing on them. You will be bouncing around at less than 5 mph. Sites are tight and not enough space for our toad. Luckily the camp worker allowed us to park it on the small lot behind us. It is 12 miles from Niagra Falls but driving is through derelict areas. Nothing pretty about the location. We left a day early in search of something nicer.
Aug 11, 2025 · Terry ThomasFirst let me say I am a manager of a campground in a tourist area also so my expectations are high. The disappointment I had at this campground was unbelievable. While I did not see any bedbugs in the cabin I knew they had been there previously. The HEAVY staining on the wood was significant! The screens on the door was shredded! The mosquitoes will literally pick you up and take you away! The pool is gross! Dead frogs in the basket skimmer….i don’t think the fence has seen a weed eater ever! The pool is blacktopped on the outside….but it is ROUGH! The pool is a bit undesirable on the inside covered in a black something or other on the inside! I also made sure my dog had his rabies certificate and when I asked if he wanted to see it was no but he didn’t want to see dog shit near the cabin! Professional eh? There are also seasonal guests there with chickens! Yes chickens! It looks like a run down trailer park! I emailed this establishment about all the things I saw and not even a common courtesy response to anything! In my professional opinion the guest comes first as they are what make sure I can take care of my family! This franchise gives KOA A BAD NAME! I will never return to this campground!
Jul 30, 2025 · Kim VarinWe stayed here one night in kabin 1 while went to a concert. I liked that it was close to art park. The bathrooms were nice. Kabin was nice but it got super cold. There is electricity in there also a heater and A/c. The kamp store doesn't open until 8 and the coffee was terrible.
Aug 05, 2025 · Tina SpoorThe only issue we have was that when we arrived there was a “seasonal individual “ who said we were going to to fast when we past his site because “too much dust” came up and bothered him, while pulling the trailer into our site, my husband apologized, however not even 5 minutes later a woman left his site a lot faster than we came in and he did nothing about it … (site 52 was his and it was overly crowded with bottles of god knows what). This was our only complaint and issue if “seasonal individuals” feel they must make visitors feel uncomfortable maybe KOA should rethink seasonal sites near visitors.
