This campground offers a more rustic experience, perfect for those who love to pitch a tent, enjoy some fishing, and truly sleep under the wide-open Texas sky.

We understand that what makes a perfect camping trip varies for everyone. For some, it’s all about luxurious amenities, but for others, it’s the simplicity of nature, the crackle of a campfire, and the chance to spot some local wildlife. North D & D Camping seems to cater beautifully to the latter. While it embraces a more primitive style of camping, it still provides just enough convenience to make your outdoor adventure enjoyable. We’ve gathered insights from fellow campers to give you a clear, engaging, and factual overview of what makes North D & D Camping a distinctive and appealing choice for your next outdoor escape here in Texas.

Location and Accessibility

North D & D Camping is conveniently located at 2053 FM2951, Graford, TX 76449, USA. This address places it in the charming, rural community of Graford, situated in Palo Pinto County, Texas. The area is well-known for its scenic landscapes, including its proximity to Lake Palo Pinto, a popular destination for fishing and water recreation.

The park's location on FM2951 (Farm to Market Road 2951) ensures relatively easy access. Farm to Market roads are typically well-maintained routes, making the drive to the campground straightforward for most vehicles and RVs. While Graford is a smaller town, the campground's immediate vicinity offers some crucial conveniences. As one reviewer noted, there's a "Convenient store and ice house close by," which is incredibly helpful for grabbing last-minute supplies, snacks, or, importantly, ice for your cooler.

For those traveling from larger Texas cities, Graford is within a reasonable driving distance. It's approximately an hour and a half drive from Fort Worth, and about two hours from Dallas, making it an accessible weekend getaway or a short trip for those looking to escape the urban sprawl. The rural setting contributes to the peaceful atmosphere of the campground, allowing visitors to truly immerse themselves in nature without being too far from basic necessities. This balance of natural seclusion and practical accessibility makes North D & D Camping a well-situated choice for Texans seeking an authentic outdoor experience.

Services Offered

North D & D Camping offers a more rustic camping experience, emphasizing self-sufficiency while still providing a few key amenities to enhance your stay. It's important to note what is and isn't available to plan your trip effectively.

  • Camping Space: The campground provides ample space for setting up tents. One reviewer mentioned, "There's plenty of space for a tent or 2, depending on tent size and set up per campground." This indicates flexible options for tent campers.
  • No Electric Hookups: As explicitly stated by a past visitor, there is "No electric." Campers needing power will need to bring their own generators, as one reviewer noted they "use a generator for air at night and coffee in the morning." This means you must be self-reliant for your electrical needs.
  • No Water Hookups: Similar to electricity, there is "no water" hookup available at the sites. Visitors must bring all their own potable water for drinking, cooking, and hygiene.
  • Bathrooms On-Site: A significant convenience for a primitive campground, "Bathrooms on-site" are available. While no details on cleanliness or type (flush vs. vault) are provided, the presence of any restroom facility is a definite plus.
  • Nearby Convenient Store and Ice House: For last-minute essentials, a "Convenient store and ice house close by" offers easy access to supplies, a crucial amenity for any camping trip.
  • Grilling Areas: The mention of "grilling" suggests that areas suitable for cooking, possibly with designated fire rings or grill grates, are available for public use.
  • Park Area: There is a "park area" on-site, which could imply a small recreational space, possibly with some basic playground equipment, though further details are not specified.

Overall, North D & D Camping provides the essential bare bones for a comfortable rustic experience, allowing campers to focus on nature while still having crucial amenities like restrooms and nearby supplies.

Features / Highlights

North D & D Camping, while rustic, offers a variety of features and highlights that make it a compelling destination for those seeking an authentic Texas outdoor experience.

  • Ample Tent Space: A key highlight is the generous "plenty of space for a tent or 2, depending on tent size and set up per campground." This provides flexibility and room for comfortable tent camping.
  • Family Fun Fishing: The opportunity for "Family fun fishing" is a major draw, especially for those looking to enjoy casual angling with loved ones. Its proximity to Lake Palo Pinto likely enhances this experience.

Promotions or Special Offers

North D & D Camping, given its rustic nature and focus on a back-to-basics outdoor experience, does not typically advertise traditional "promotions" or "special offers" in the same vein as more amenity-rich or commercial campgrounds. Its primary "offer" is the inherent value of an affordable and authentic natural camping experience.

While specific pricing details are not universally available in public information, the general tone of the reviews suggests it is a budget-friendly option for camping. Primitive or rustic campgrounds often have lower daily fees compared to full-service RV parks, making them an attractive choice for cost-conscious campers. The value here lies in the access to spacious sites, a peaceful environment, and key basic amenities like on-site restrooms, without the added cost of utilities or extensive recreational facilities that some campers may not even use.

Any "promotion" from North D & D Camping would likely be its consistent commitment to providing a straightforward, natural camping experience at a reasonable price. For those seeking affordability and a true immersion in the Texas outdoors, this consistent value is itself a compelling offer. We recommend contacting North D & D Camping directly using the provided phone number to inquire about their current rates for tent or camper spaces and to confirm any specific details about your stay.
