Whether it's for a school's scholastic program or a family seeking an enriching outdoor experience, Grady Spruce Campground clearly prioritizes engaging and educating its guests. Grady Spruce Campground, officially part of YMCA Camp Grady Spruce, is located at 3000 Park Rd 36, Graford, TX 76449, USA. This prime location places it directly on the breathtaking shores of Possum Kingdom Lake, one of Texas's most iconic and beautiful bodies of water. The lake is renowned for its dramatic cliffs, pristine waters, and abundance of recreational opportunities, making it a highly sought-after destination for outdoor enthusiasts across the state.
Accessibility to Camp Grady Spruce from major Texas metropolitan areas is convenient. From Dallas, it's approximately 100 to 120 miles west, typically a two-hour drive. Visitors would generally take I-20 West, then transition to state highways (such as TX-16) and local roads (like Park Road 36) that lead directly to the camp. From Fort Worth, the journey is even shorter. The camp's placement on Park Road 36 ensures direct access to the lakefront, providing unparalleled opportunities for water-based activities. While nestled in a natural setting, the clear signage and well-maintained access roads make finding this valuable resource straightforward for all visitors, from school buses full of excited students to families on a weekend retreat. This balance of being immersed in nature while still being reasonably accessible from major population centers is a significant advantage for Texans looking for a quality outdoor experience.

- Financial Assistance/Scholarships: As a non-profit organization, the YMCA often provides financial assistance or scholarships to ensure that no child or family is turned away due to inability to pay.

Customer Reviews
This place is amazing. Definitely going to be checking out if this can be done as a family thing as well. Went as a chaperone for our school for the scholastic program, and these folks did not disappoint. They put the fun in learning, and the staff was amazing, everyone is friendly, thoughtful, and personable. The ONLY thing I'd like to see improve (and this is going to take people contributing and caring about programs like this) is the tlc and condition of some of the facilities and equipment. Nothing major, mostly just small maintenence/upkeep or organizational challenges. The staff are busy with entertaining and educating us and our children, while coming up with new and creative ways of doing that to keep everyone engaged, and that takes a lot of time and energy, so again this is small stuff that they probably don't have time to do nor the funding to have done for them. So feel free to go, enjoy... because it's amazing... and contribute where you can to help keep and improve such an awesome resource.
The staff was friendly, there was a lot of fun structured events to teach the kids about the outdoors. The only problem we experienced was a couple of the counselors were not really interested or involved. I think it's really pretty area and fun for the kids
I recently attended the educational program with my son's fifth grade class. The staff were amazing and prepared for each activity. They were great at leading and teaching the kids. Meal time was very orderly and taught the kids patience and responsibility. The activities were fun and educational - hiking, canoeing, boating, horseback riding and more.
Oh my gosh, we went here back in 2014 and again in 2019 for a school trip. It was such a fantastic trip and the counselors are all amazing and well informed about the local fauna. The lake is so beautiful and clean. The sunrise and sets are breathtaking as well. My son still remembers and talks about when we went in 2014 for his 5th grade trip and the trip we just took for my daughters 5th school trip was just as memorable. Though, 5 years later my legs are bit more tired than the last time!!
What a fun experience! The staff are knowledgeable, friendly and active with the campers. Worth the trip.
