Location and Accessibility
Strategically positioned at
391 West St, Biddeford, ME 04005, USA
, the campground’s location is arguably its strongest asset. While offering a tranquil, inland setting surrounded by farmland, it maintains excellent proximity to major points of interest, making travel for locals extremely efficient.
Crucially, Ocean Pines is just a short journey—often only a mile and a half to three miles—from four of Biddeford and Kennebunkport's finest beaches, including Fortunes Rocks Beach, Biddeford Pool, and Middle Beach. Unlike the heavily commercialized beaches to the north, these Biddeford beaches are often described by locals as feeling more like private stretches of sand, lacking large hotel development. This accessibility means a beautiful beach day is only a quick 10-minute bike ride away, with the added benefit of the Eastern Trail (a multi-use greenway) passing nearby for easy cycling and walking excursions.
Beyond the local coastline, the campground serves as an excellent central hub for Southern Maine exploration. The lively atmosphere of Old Orchard Beach (OOB) and its famous pier are just a few miles north, while the picturesque, high-end shops and dining of Kennebunkport’s Dock Square are a short drive to the south. Even the vibrant urban core of Portland, complete with its award-winning food scene and international Jetport, is an easily manageable 20 to 25-minute drive, ensuring that guests can effortlessly transition between peaceful nature, coastal charm, and city life.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
Ocean Pines Campground is perfectly suited for Maine residents looking for a high-quality, family-focused vacation experience that respects their need for both tranquility and accessibility. For locals in the Greater Portland or Southern Maine regions, it offers a convenient and relaxing "staycation" option that feels miles away from home. The combination of a peaceful, well-maintained environment, the cleanest facilities in the area, and a large, welcoming dog park makes it the ideal spot for families with pets.
Crucially, the campground’s ability to provide a quiet, forested haven while being a mere stone's throw from the more private Biddeford beaches—avoiding the major tourist congestion of other coastal spots—is invaluable to local users. It provides an authentic Maine coastal experience with the added benefit of a friendly, community-oriented atmosphere, allowing Mainers to quickly disconnect, enjoy the outdoors, and use a perfectly located base to explore the best of Biddeford, Kennebunkport, and Portland, solidifying its place as a 'go-to' destination in Southern Maine.
Best little gem of a campground we've ever found. The LOCATION is perfect with just a few miles to OOB and Kennebunkport and little over a mile to the beaches. Took us 10 min on our bikes to get to really gorgeous beaches and the Eastern Trail. I didn't know that Biddeford beaches don't have hotels on them and they all felt more like private beaches and each were different. Beach parking for cars can be expensive but free after 5pm. Portland is only about 25 minutes. Its a mixture of seasonal campers, tenters and RVs and everyone is so so nice and welcoming. Unlike other campgrounds that throw you somewhere obscure, tent sites here are flat, roomy and right on the pond under a canopy of pine trees. At night they have added touches like flickering flame torches in the trees. Free wifi is pretty good and hot showers are free with great water pressure. Bathrooms and the entire campground in general always so clean. Honestly, the biggest and cleanest dog park we've ever seen and they even provided dog toys. This place is now our go-to base in southern Maine.
Sep 25, 2025 · TeeJae KaeMy group of bikers had an incredible stay at Ocean Pines Campground. From the moment we pulled in, we were greeted by Sam, who was exceptionally kind and helpful. He saw we were on bikes and immediately moved us to a site that was a much better fit for our group. The entire campground is immaculate, but the bathhouse and bathrooms deserve special mention—they're spotless, thanks to his wife's hard work. We felt so welcomed and had a truly awesome experience. Highly recommend!
Aug 22, 2025 · Israel PrestonThis is a small campground near the coast. More affordable than most, but that doesn’t mean there’s anything missing. This is a campground, not a resort, which is exactly what we want. The sites are nice, the bathrooms are modern and very clean, and they have a great little pool. The owners are the absolute nicest people you’ll ever meet. We didn’t interact much with the seasonal campers but they were all out and about the campground socializing, and we could easily have stopped to talk to anyone. They are even having a wine tasting/pizza social tonight organized by one of the seasonal campers! It’s beautiful at night looking over the pond with the lily pads, seeing all the fires and the string lights lit up around the campground. Don’t go here if you’re expecting tons of activities, but definitely go here if you want a quiet campground at the edge of the woods where you can relax, walk around, swim in the pool, and hear the bullfrogs and other wildlife every night.
