Introduction / Overview
For Minnesotans seeking a classic, nostalgic Northwoods experience, Pleasant Pines Resort and Campground, nestled on the shores of Pleasant Lake near Hackensack, offers a retreat that feels like stepping back in time. This family-owned and operated establishment, managed by five generations of the Tritz family since 1976, has cultivated a reputation for its quiet, serene atmosphere and commitment to providing a clean, memory-making environment. It perfectly embodies the "up north" vacation that so many locals cherish.
Pleasant Pines is truly a resort and campground hybrid, offering a range of accommodations that cater to all styles of vacationers. Whether you are traveling in a large RV, pitching a tent, or looking to rent a comfortable, fully-equipped cabin, the property is designed for relaxation. Guests consistently praise the extensive tree cover—which provides plenty of shade and a natural backdrop—the well-maintained grounds, and the palpable sense of tranquility. It's the kind of place where, as one long-time visitor noted, it feels the same as it did decades ago—a rare and treasured quality in today's fast-paced world.
The resort's crown jewel is its location on 1,036-acre Pleasant Lake, which boasts exceptional water clarity (up to 14 feet) and a beautiful, low-entry sugar-sand beach. This combination makes it a premier spot for families, anglers, and anyone simply looking to enjoy the quiet waters and deep lake views. The focus is squarely on creating a relaxed, family-friendly environment with plenty of on-site activities to keep kids—and adults—entertained.

Friendly staff, clean amenities, quiet, and plenty for the kids to do. We stayed the weekend in our travel trailer. The kids loved playing on the playground and on the beach. Hackensack and Walker are a short drive away if you’d like to grab food or drinks and the Paul Bunyan bike trail is great!
Jun 16, 2025 · Justin FischerIf you have just purchased a Scamp and want a place close enough to run through the systems and be close enough for adjustments, this is a good place to stay. Serene and nostalgic feeling, like you expect that it felt the same 50 or 60 years ago camping there. Much tree cover. Quiet nights. Well mown in proper areas. Deep lake views as well as quiet waters with bullrushes and ducks.
Jun 25, 2025 · Mission ResidentJeff the camp host was great did a great job on top of it I would say the best in a long time We come here 5 -6 times a year for over 30 years hope jeff is back next year not like a few years back confusion on site who is in and out of reserved spot
Aug 23, 2025 · Jeff KrausQuiet campground. There is a nice playground for the kiddos. Kayaks, paddle boats, and canoes to use. Boat launch and docks to moor your boat are available. Lots of people here did a lot of fishing. We don't fish, so we can't say much about that. The sites are a bit unlevel. On some sites, the power box is a bit of a distance away, so you may need an extension power cord. The manager may have available, but it is best to have one. Water hose same on some sites, not all. No sewer hookups. Dumpsite available for a fee. Swim beach with swim pads is also available. We did not swim during our stay. All in all was a good stay. We stayed 5 days.
Jun 12, 2025 · Tracy GeiseWhat a fantastic family friendly campground. The beach is clean weed free, shallow and gigantic! They have all the amenities for kids and adults; paddle boats, kayaks, aqua mat's and a playground. We did a scavenger hunt with the kids and made friends with other camping families so many friendly people! The public bathrooms were recently remodeled and kept very clean. Love this campground, we'll definitely be back in the future!!!!
