Introduction / Overview: Experience the Pocono Mountains at Pocono Point
Pocono Point RV & Campground, situated in Lehighton, PA, offers Pennsylvania residents a diverse and accessible basecamp for exploring the celebrated Pocono Mountains and the historic charm of nearby Jim Thorpe. This all-ages facility provides a range of accommodation options, catering to seasoned RV nomads, families seeking a cozy cabin stay, and those who prefer the rustic experience of tent camping. The property proudly advertises full-hookup RV sites, comfortable cabin rentals, and unique tent camping areas, including creekside spots along the Pohopoco Creek and high-up sites with potential views over the Delaware Water Gap. The campground is notably open year-round, which is a significant advantage for locals looking to enjoy the Poconos in all seasons.
Pocono Point promotes itself as a family-friendly destination, equipped with amenities like a clubhouse, game room, and swimming pool, all designed to ensure a comfortable and memorable vacation experience. The location offers easy access to major regional attractions, including hiking trails on the nearby Appalachian Trail, whitewater rafting, and the culture of historic Jim Thorpe.
However, local users performing due diligence must be aware of serious and highly concerning reports from past guests. Some visitors have strongly felt that the park atmosphere more closely resembled a permanent "trailer park" due to a high volume of long-term stationed RVs, and have noted noticeable noise from nearby highway traffic. Most gravely, a recent review details an alarming experience involving bed bugs in a rental cabin, with claims of traps found near the bed and management denial of the issue even when presented with photographic and video evidence. These severe concerns regarding cleanliness, pest control in cabins, and the general long-term/transient site ratio necessitate a thorough inquiry by any prospective guest to management before booking, particularly for cabin rentals.

Its accessibility is a key factor for local users across the state. The campground offers easy access right off the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-476) and is strategically situated near major routes, making the drive relatively simple from Philadelphia, Harrisburg, and New Jersey.
The local area is a hub for outdoor adventure and history. The campground is a short drive from historic Jim Thorpe, known for its Victorian architecture, unique shops, and outdoor activities like the Lehigh Valley bike trail and scenic train rides. Outdoor enthusiasts appreciate the close proximity to the Appalachian Trail (AT) near the Lehigh Gap Nature Center and Beltzville State Park with its sandy beaches. The location allows campers to enjoy the quiet beauty of the Pohopoco Creek and surrounding nature while remaining conveniently close to amenities and attractions in Lehighton and Stroudsburg. The ease of access, combined with a central location for exploring the entire southern Poconos, makes this a prime choice for Pennsylvania travelers.

Unfortunately it wasn’t what we expected. It felt like a trailer park. I’d say easily 80% of the RV’s there, we’re stationed there permanently. There was absolutely nothing to do. Noise can be heard from passing traffic from the nearby highway. Sewer could be smelled depending on where you walked. Perhaps it is our fault for not doing enough research, but we did a 10 hr round trip for this. We only stayed one out of the three nights we booked.
Sep 11, 2025 · Jezenia JohnsonAs soon as we stepped into the cabin we saw bed bug traps all around the bed. We called to ask what is going and they said there are no bed bugs and that it’s just there for precaution. Foolishly believing the host we stayed. The next morning I woke up to small red bumps on my skin. Still I wanted to believe the hosts and not assume it was not a bed bug bite. Early in the morning my partner and I saw a small bug crawling on a kitchen cabinet where we scanned it with a bug identification app and was told it’s a bed bug. We immediately contacted Airbnb support and the hosts. We told the hosts what happened and they denied the proof of my bite marks being from bed bugs and the picture we showed them. They said the picture we showed them was not from their cabin and not true. According to them bed bugs are only on beds and not on wood. You would thinking running a park you would be educated enough to know bed bugs do not just reside on beds. We went back to the cabin to check out and throw our items into bags to not get them in our home. Guess what we found while getting our stuff bagged… a bed bug on the bed. We took a video of that with the room so they cannot deny anything now. Do not stay here unless you like being gaslight and getting bed bugs.
Aug 03, 2025 · Jada HarrisLowest prices around for RVs and tent camping, and is centrally located in Lehighton, close to all kinds of outdoor activities, restaurants, and shopping. I got a senior and cash/check discount, too. Tara, the general manager, is very accommodating, and you can even call her after hours, if needed. She and her husband, George, both maintain the park. They have a fully stocked camping store, a game room including a pool table, laundry facilities, showers, restroom, and a swimming pool. There's even a stream on their property that is stocked with trout in early spring.
Mar 15, 2025 · Bruce CohenEasy in and out..and back on I476. Price is OK..noise from the Turnpike is noticeable. But a good stop for a Jim Thorpe visit.
Sep 09, 2025 · Steven HamptonWe stayed in the loft cabin which was absolutely charming. Everything was clean and the AC worked great! It was in the 90 degree weather with high humidity so the AC was perfect for cooling off and sleeping. Everyone we encountered who worked there were extremely hospitable and engaging. Would definitely recommend! They are also dog friendly!
