For many New Jersey residents, particularly those with a connection to our nation's military, finding a reliable, affordable, and well-located RV camping spot can be a challenge. New Jersey's unique blend of suburban areas, protected pine forests, and military installations creates diverse camping opportunities. Among these is the highly specific and value-driven Range 14 RV Park, an off-installation facility associated with Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JBMDL) near Browns Mills, NJ. This park is not a typical public campground; it is a dedicated resource catering almost exclusively to a select group of authorized patrons, offering exceptional value for those who qualify.
This guide is designed to provide New Jersey locals, especially military service members, veterans, retirees, and DoD civilian employees, with a clear, factual overview of Range 14 RV Park. Understanding the necessary eligibility and the park's distinct location is crucial for a successful and hassle-free camping experience in the heart of Burlington County. It represents an unparalleled opportunity for those seeking full-hookup camping at an unmatched price point in the region.
Range 14 RV Park is part of the morale, welfare, and recreation (MWR) offerings provided by the 87th Force Support Squadron at JBMDL. Unlike public-access campgrounds in the Pine Barrens, Range 14 is specifically designed to support the housing and recreational needs of the military and Department of Defense (DoD) community. This specialized focus means that the general public is typically excluded, and eligibility requires proof of military or DoD affiliation. Patrons must be prepared for a dedicated and formal reservation and check-in process, often involving paperwork and security clearances, as one user noted, which is a common requirement for staying at any military-affiliated facility, even if the RV park itself is technically “off-installation.”
The park offers a limited number of sites—only 12 in total—making it an intimate setting but also meaning reservations are highly recommended, often weeks in advance. Despite its function as a basic, no-frills facility, the primary draw remains the full-hookup capability and the extremely affordable daily and weekly rates it offers to its authorized user base. Users who understand and accept the park's primary function—a simple, secure base near the Joint Base—tend to find the value proposition unbeatable. As one review stated, "for the price, it cannot be beat."
The Range 14 RV Park is located in the Browns Mills area of New Jersey, situated in Burlington County. While its physical address is Browns Mills, NJ 08015, the facility's identity is inextricably linked to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, which dominates the area's geography.
The park's location off the main base is a point of importance for local RV owners. It provides a less complicated entry and exit point than navigating the often-congested and security-intensive main gates and interior roads of JBMDL. However, users must be aware that while it is off-installation in the sense that it doesn't require entry through the main gates, it is still part of the Range 14 area, which is an active military zone. This proximity is the source of the "peaceful gunfire" mentioned by patrons—a unique soundscape that is part and parcel of staying at a military recreation facility.
Accessibility is primarily via local county routes, connecting to New Jersey Route 70 and then major highways like Interstate 295 and the New Jersey Turnpike. While one customer noted it is "very far from the interstate," this perception is relative to the quiet, wooded location. For those living or working on or near JBMDL, the park is highly convenient. For general travel across the state, it offers a secure, centralized location, providing a strong base for exploring the Pine Barrens or driving to the Jersey Shore beaches within an hour.
The services at Range 14 RV Park are focused squarely on the fundamentals of comfortable, utilitarian RV camping, ensuring a reliable base for military travelers and families:
Full Utility Hookups: Every one of the 12 available RV sites is equipped with full hookups, which includes water, electric, and sewage connections. This essential feature greatly enhances the convenience of extended stays.
Electric Service: The sites are set up with 20-amp and 30-amp electric service. Prospective campers should note the confirmed limitation regarding electricity: despite older or promotional materials that may mention 50-amp service, user reviews confirm that the current setup is 30-amp only. RVs requiring 50-amp power will need an adapter.
Water & Sewer: Reliable water connections are available, though some patrons have noted water faucets are sometimes split between adjacent sites, requiring shared use of space and resources. Full sewer hookups are available at each site, eliminating the need to use a central dump station.
Restroom Facilities: The park is equipped with restroom facilities for guests' convenience. However, it is important to note that, as a military FamCamp, the focus is on the RV hookups, and large communal shower/laundry buildings found in commercial parks may not be available.
Reservation and Security: The park operates on a reservation-required basis, ensuring that all guests are authorized patrons of the JBMDL MWR system. The management oversees the security and restricted access for the military-affiliated community.
Exclusive Access and Unbeatable Value: The primary highlight is the park’s restricted access to military and DoD personnel, which allows for extremely competitive daily rates compared to private RV parks in New Jersey. This value proposition is the top reason for its suitability for eligible patrons.
Full Hookups at Every Site: All 12 sites offer water, electric, and sewer connections, a premium feature that ensures maximum comfort and convenience for all RV types.
Tranquil, Wooded Setting with Unique Ambiance: Located on the edge of the range, the environment is generally quiet and peaceful, bordered by the characteristic New Jersey Pine Barrens. The occasional, unique background noise of "peaceful gunfire" from the nearby range creates a distinctive military atmosphere that is not disruptive, according to reviewers, but is certainly a unique feature.
Strong AT&T/Hotspot Connectivity: A practical highlight for modern travelers is the reported reliable cell service (specifically AT&T) sufficient for using a hotspot for streaming services—a key consideration since cable service is not provided.
Access to JBMDL MWR Facilities: Guests have convenient access to the wide range of MWR facilities on the main Joint Base, including the commissary, exchange, fitness centers, and Rod & Gun Club, which are significant benefits not available to general public campers.
Reservations and detailed inquiries regarding eligibility and the check-in process should be directed to the JBMDL MWR or the specific facility associated with the Range 14 camp area.

For New Jersey locals with authorized military or DoD identification, Range 14 RV Park is an excellent, practical solution for both short-term stays and extended visits. Its suitability for this niche audience lies in three key areas: unmatched affordability, the convenience of full hookups, and its secure, centralized location within the JBMDL complex.
The low cost—often significantly less than commercial campgrounds—makes it the definitive value choice for eligible patrons in New Jersey. Furthermore, the ability to be close to the base is invaluable for those transitioning, on temporary duty, or visiting family or friends stationed at JBMDL. While the park is "basic" and may have minor issues like dust from gravel roads or shared water connections, these are easily outweighed by the low nightly rates and the sense of security that comes with a dedicated military facility. New Jersey’s military community needs reliable, cost-effective lodging options, and Range 14 RV Park fills this need perfectly, providing a secure, no-frills, and highly functional home base in the quiet environment of the Pine Barrens. For eligible local users, it is simply the best value camping experience in the region.
I filled out and emailed 10 pages of paperwork and you are not even on the base. We have stayed at multiple military bases and just showed our ID's at the gate. We were worned that the electricity was supposed to be 50 amps but the contractor only did 30 amps. Water is on a split faucet with the camper next door and when we arrived the guy was using our faucet for his hot tub plus extension cords were wrapped all around the faucet. $35 and nothing there and it is very far from the interstate so we will not stay here again.
Jul 08, 2025 · Debra BraceThis range is not technically open to the public. But for the price, it cannot be beat. It is primarily open to military and civilian employees of the DoD. Full hookup, minus cable. AT&T has enough service to hotspot a Fire Stick/TV. T-Mobile, not so much. Like others have said, peaceful gunfire. The worst thing is the dust of those passing by the site on the gravel roads at what seems to be over the posted speed limits. 😷😶🌫️
Apr 24, 2025 · Timothy GallagherBeautiful place, but we were INVADED BY DEER TICKS! Even with bug spray. So if you stay at range 14, make sure to use lots and lots of bug spray and wear long pants, long sleeves and a hat! Happy camping everyone!
Jun 23, 2022 · wendy bloomeGood: only $100/week, new gravel at sites and some grass between, picnic bench. Bad: old bath house 1 block away, no laundry, sites close together, some sites share water connection, sewer 12" high, water accumulates behind sites during rain, next to skeet range and near other military ranges day and night.
Jun 15, 2019 · shelley richardsonWe've stayed here numerous times bc family is over in Brick. These sites have full hookups but are very close together almost on top of each other. It's on the range outside of the back gate, so expect to hear gunfire during the day, though it's quiet at night. Brown's Mill town is about 3 miles away and they have an Acme grocery store that's pretty clean, an Ollie's, and Alba's pizza place that has great NJ pizza. The comissary and exchange are also down the road on the Joint base. Even though the sites are close together we like staying here while visiting family.
