Introduction / Overview
For Pennsylvanians seeking an authentic, tranquil retreat into the state's magnificent wilderness, look no further than Red Bridge Campground. Located deep within the expansive Allegheny National Forest in the northwestern corner of the state, this recreation area offers a perfect blend of modern convenience and pristine natural beauty. Situated along the serene Kinzua Arm of the Allegheny Reservoir, Red Bridge is a beloved destination for families, hikers, anglers, and anyone eager to disconnect from the daily grind and reconnect with the outdoors. It provides a peaceful, well-maintained setting with a variety of camping options to suit every type of outdoor enthusiast, from those pitching a tent to those in a full-service RV.
Red Bridge Campground is more than just a place to park your camper; it is a gateway to the half-million-acre Allegheny National Forest. The campground's setting is richly wooded with mature trees—including black cherry, hemlock, and birch—providing ample shade and a sense of privacy at many of the spacious sites. The campground is well-known among local campers for its peaceful, quiet atmosphere and its immaculate facilities. As one satisfied visitor noted, the site is "quiet and beautiful," with clean restrooms and well-kept grounds. Whether you're drawn by the promise of excellent bank fishing, access to epic hiking trails, or simply a desire for a clean, beautiful campground by the water, Red Bridge consistently delivers an exceptional experience.
Location and Accessibility
Red Bridge Campground is perfectly situated to serve as a basecamp for exploring the Pennsylvania Wilds. Its precise location places it on the eastern shore of the Kinzua Arm of the Allegheny Reservoir, a vast body of water created by the Kinzua Dam on the Allegheny River. This stunning natural feature is central to the area's recreational appeal.
The campground is easily accessible by vehicle, located approximately nine miles northwest of the town of Kane, PA. It sits directly off of State Route 321. This highway is not just a road; it is part of the famed Longhouse National Scenic Byway, a beautiful 29-mile loop that circles the Kinzua Arm of the reservoir, making the drive itself part of the adventure. For hikers, accessibility is a major highlight, as the world-class North Country National Scenic Trail actually crosses SR 321 a short distance south of the campground, offering immediate entry onto thousands of miles of trail.
For local users coming from the east or west of the region, the campground is convenient to major routes, though the final miles offer a scenic, winding journey through the heart of the national forest. The nearby town of Kane offers limited services, while the larger town of Bradford is also accessible, providing a balance of remote wilderness feel with the ability to stock up on essentials a short drive away.

Stayed here about a year ago, was quiet and beautiful. No issues would love to come back here. We went to cherry springs before and honestly the sky view here is almost as good. Restrooms were clean and site was in good condition.

Aug 25, 2025 · Tatiana BrownI stayed Tuesday until Friday, and it was very peaceful! The sites are spacious and fairly private. Everything was tidy.
Jul 19, 2025 · Gayle MurphyNicely maintained restrooms and sites. Has now become my favorite campground with having such easy access to the water.
Jul 14, 2025 · Jamie thomasGreat way to camp if you don't have a camper. It was very clean and plenty of space for family and friends. Be prepared to bring everything you need from soaps to pots and pans. There was a tiny refrigerator, we brought coolers with ice, microwave, little tabletop burners. We used the fire to cook with. Bring fire starters if you want a fire, most of the wood we got was wet. There are small charcoal picnic grills.
