Rest EZ Campground About

When planning a camping trip in Wisconsin, choosing the right campground is crucial for a memorable and enjoyable experience. Rest EZ Campground, located in Minong, WI, is one of the many options available to local residents. To help you make an informed decision, this article compiles public feedback and observations about Rest EZ Campground. It aims to provide a clear, factual overview of common guest experiences, particularly focusing on the atmosphere and management style, allowing you to assess if this campground aligns with your expectations for a relaxing and fun outdoor getaway.

Rest EZ Campground is situated at W6508 WI-77, Minong, WI 54859, USA. Minong is a town located in Washburn County, Wisconsin, known for its proximity to numerous lakes, forests, and outdoor recreational opportunities. Wisconsin State Highway 77 is a direct route, making the campground relatively accessible for those traveling from various parts of the state. Its location in Northern Wisconsin places it within reach of popular tourist destinations and natural attractions in the region, including various lakes and trails that draw outdoor enthusiasts.

While the address indicates a specific physical location, public reviews suggest that the overall experience at the campground can significantly impact a visitor's perception of its convenience and accessibility. One review notes, for instance, that despite being a place to stay, the "constant monitoring of all activities made it feel like we were under surveillance 24/7," which directly affects the perceived ease and comfort of the location. The accessibility to the area's natural beauty might be overshadowed if the internal environment of the campground proves to be less than welcoming or conducive to relaxation, as indicated by feedback describing it as "more like a prison camp than a campground." Therefore, while physically accessible via a state highway, the psychological accessibility for a 'restful' experience appears to be a key consideration for potential visitors based on existing public data.

Based on the provided public reviews, the services offered at Rest EZ Campground appear to be structured around standard camping provisions, but with a notable emphasis on rules and regulation enforcement by the management.

  • Campsites for Seasonal and Regular Stays: The campground offers spots for both seasonal and regular campers, indicating it caters to various lengths of stay. However, the experience for both types of campers appears to be similar based on the negative feedback.

  • Management Presence: The owners, Kim and Bob, are described as being consistently present and actively "policing our every move." This involves frequent stops by their UTV to monitor activities.

  • Rule Enforcement: A significant aspect of the service involves the strict and immediate enforcement of "endless list of rules." This includes stringent requirements for registering visitors and specific parking regulations.

  • Visitor Management: When guests have visitors, the owners are reported to arrive "within 10 seconds" to ensure registration and enforce parking rules, often accompanied by "stern lecture."

  • Security Measures (Controversial): In one instance, the owners "called the cops on them without any valid reason" in relation to friends of a camper, suggesting a heightened level of internal policing.

  • Atmosphere Management: The management's approach contributes to an atmosphere described as "oppressive," "unfriendly," and lacking in "fun." This significantly impacts the perceived quality of the 'services' related to creating a pleasant camping environment.

Based on the provided customer reviews, the highlights and features of Rest EZ Campground are primarily shaped by the experiences campers have with its management and overall atmosphere.

  • Strict Rule Enforcement: A prominent feature is the rigorous and immediate enforcement of "endless list of rules" by the owners, Kim and Bob. This appears to be a defining characteristic of the campground's operation.

  • Constant Surveillance: Campers report feeling "under surveillance 24/7" and being constantly monitored by the owners, leading to a lack of privacy and relaxation.

  • Unwelcoming Atmosphere: The campground is frequently described as having an "unfriendly," "oppressive," and "hostile environment," making it difficult for guests, including children, to feel comfortable or have fun.

  • Frequent Interruptions: Family time and activities are reportedly interrupted by the owners, who approach campers with "stern lecture" rather than friendly greetings, especially when visitors arrive.

  • Low Occupancy: The observation that "The campground is not filled" is cited as a "telling" indicator of its general appeal and atmosphere, suggesting a lack of vibrancy or popularity compared to other campgrounds.

  • Lack of Relaxation: Despite its name, "Rest EZ," reviewers consistently state there was "nothing restful or easy" about their stay, highlighting a significant disconnect between the campground's branding and the actual guest experience.

  • Controversial Guest Interactions: Reports include instances of verbal confrontations, with one owner reportedly getting "in my friend's face" and yelling at campers, as well as calling law enforcement without clear justification.

  • Impact on Children: Children reportedly noticed the unfriendliness and were "afraid to even walk around the campground," indicating a negative impact on the family-friendly aspect.

Based on the provided customer reviews, there are no mentions of "promotions or special offers" at Rest EZ Campground. The focus of the reviews is overwhelmingly on the operational style and atmosphere rather than any pricing incentives or special deals. The critical feedback suggests that the value proposition, if any, is overshadowed by the reported negative experiences related to management and rules.

Customers' decisions to leave after a short period or to strongly advise others to "avoid at all costs" indicate that the overall experience at Rest EZ Campground, regardless of price, did not meet their expectations for a relaxing or enjoyable camping trip. Therefore, it is important for potential visitors to consider the nature of the reported experiences rather than looking for promotions, as the primary concern appears to be the environment itself.

For direct inquiries or to attempt to gather further information about Rest EZ Campground, the contact details provided are:

  • Address: W6508 WI-77, Minong, WI 54859, USA

  • Phone: (715) 829-3100

  • Mobile Phone: +1 715-829-3100

Prospective campers are strongly encouraged to use these contact methods to ask very specific questions regarding rules, visitor policies, and the general atmosphere before making a reservation or planning a visit. Given the consistent feedback regarding "endless list of rules," "constant monitoring," and an "unwelcoming" environment, a detailed conversation with the management, Kim and Bob, could help set clear expectations and potentially clarify any concerns based on the public reviews. This proactive approach might be particularly useful for seasonal campers or those planning longer stays.

Based on the cumulative feedback from public reviews, Rest EZ Campground presents a very specific kind of camping environment, which may or may not be suitable for Wisconsin locals depending on their individual preferences and expectations for a getaway. For locals seeking a truly "restful" and "easy" experience, or a family-friendly atmosphere where children can freely explore and play, the provided reviews indicate that this campground might not align with those desires. The consistent reports of "constant monitoring," "endless list of rules," an "unwelcoming" atmosphere, and even "hostile" interactions with management (Kim and Bob) suggest an environment that could be perceived as more restrictive than relaxing.

However, for a very particular segment of the local Wisconsin population, perhaps those who prefer an extremely structured environment, prioritize strict adherence to rules above all else, or who have very minimal interaction needs with management and other campers, this campground might technically provide a space to park. The feedback explicitly advises to "Avoid at All Costs" if one is looking for fun or relaxation. Therefore, for most Wisconsin locals envisioning a typical, enjoyable camping experience in the serene setting of their state, the available public data strongly suggests that Rest EZ Campground might not be the most suitable choice, and exploring other options in the Minong area or wider Wisconsin region that are known for genuinely welcoming and relaxed atmospheres would be highly advisable.

**Awful Experience at Rest EZ Campground - Seasonal and Regular - Avoid at All Costs!** Our seasonal stay at Rest EZ Campground in Minong, WI, was a complete nightmare. So much so that we left after one month. The constant monitoring of all activities made it feel like we were under surveillance 24/7. It was impossible to relax or enjoy ourselves with the campground owners, Kim and Bob, policing our every move. Their behavior was incredibly unreasonable, especially when compared to other campgrounds we've stayed at. The name "Rest EZ" is completely misleading. There was nothing restful or easy about our time there. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that Kim and Bob were more interested in enforcing their endless list of rules than ensuring guests had a pleasant stay. The first time we had visitors, the owners arrived within 10 seconds, not with a friendly greeting, but with a stern lecture about how everyone needs to be registered and how they can't park where they were. It was an incredibly rude and unwelcoming experience. This was repeated each time we had visitors. I have many stories. The campground was not fun at all. There were very few kids around, and even my children noticed how unfriendly the place was. The atmosphere was oppressive, and it was clear that Kim and Bob's overbearing presence scared away families looking for a fun and relaxing time. Our friends were unjustly treated as well. The owners called the cops on them without any valid reason, creating an even more hostile environment. To make matters worse, Kim got in my friend's face during a confrontation, which was completely uncalled for and extremely intimidating. She yelled at me and my family and interrupted our family time on numerous ocxa. The experience was so horrendous that we decided to switch campgrounds after just one month. The final straw was the constant harassment and lack of any real rest or enjoyment. If you're looking for a campground where you can relax and have fun, avoid Rest EZ Campground at all costs. Our time there was more like a prison sentence than a vacation, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. There are plenty of other campgrounds where the owners are reasonable and the atmosphere is genuinely welcoming.

I recently stayed at Rest EZ Campground in Minong, WI, and it was an absolutely horrendous experience. I have to echo the sentiments of other reviewers who have had a bad experience. This place as nothing short of a prison camp. From the moment we arrived, the management was extremely rude and unwelcoming. The staff seemed more interested in enforcing arbitrary rules than ensuring guests had a pleasant stay. The list of rules was endless and unreasonable, making it feel like we were being constantly monitored and policed. It was impossible to feel relaxed or comfortable, Kim and Bob stop by constantly and your butt seriously puckers when you hear their UTV come by. The campground is not filled, which is telling. Despite claiming to be family-friendly, this place was anything but. My friend’s kids were afraid to even walk around the campground due to the hostile environment created by both the staff and other campers. Overall, Rest EZ Campground is a place I would never recommend to anyone. Save yourself the trouble and find somewhere else to stay. This place is more like a prison camp than a campground, and it completely ruined our trip.

This place is great! We come here once a year and have never had anything other great hospitality. The first stay that we had with them we hit a snag on the way up and they helped us get settled at 9pm and in the Dark. the owners helped us unhook and get set up for the night. every other stay we have had they have been extremely helpful. I love the fact that they pay close attention to what is going on in the campground at all times. We have been too many places where the owners or grounds keepers are absent and its been nothing but parties and noise through out the night. The campground it clean and well groomed with a lot of great people that seem to be seasonal campers. wish i could give them 10 stars.

If you want a nice quiet clean campground with drive out access to the trails Rest ez is your place. IF you want to get loud and party all night its not going to end well for you, If you want to rip around the campgrounds roads and trails like they are racetrack, its not going to end well for you either. If you want clean bathrooms a very friendly owners that genuinely care this is the place for you. The camp store is reasonably priced and well stocked. Firewood was generous and reasonably priced. We will be back. -
