Location and Accessibility

River Park Campground is uniquely situated at 1006-2422 Coopers Bottom Rd, Milton, KY 40045, USA. While its official address is in Milton, Kentucky, its most significant geographical highlight is its immediate proximity to, and visual connection with, Madison, Indiana. This "Location, Location, Location" is its defining feature.

The campground is positioned directly on the banks of the Ohio River, offering campers breathtaking "Beautiful location on the river" views. This riverside setting not only provides scenic beauty but also potential access to water-based activities directly from the campground, though specific launch facilities are not detailed in the provided reviews.

Crucially, River Park Campground is effectively across the river from historic downtown Madison, Indiana. While not explicitly stated as walkable like some other campgrounds in the area might be to a bridge, its position strongly implies very easy and quick access to Madison's vibrant attractions via a short drive or potentially a bridge crossing. This connection to Madison is a huge draw, allowing campers to easily visit the town's famous historic district, unique shops, diverse restaurants, and cultural events such as the "Madison. Regatta" and "Roostertail music." The ability to enjoy a rustic camping experience while having urban amenities and entertainment just moments away is a rare and highly valued convenience for locals.

Access to River Park Campground from within Kentucky is typically via state routes that connect to the Milton area. Coopers Bottom Road itself suggests a more rural, scenic drive to the campground. Services Offered

River Park Campground offers a more rustic and location-focused camping experience, prioritizing the natural setting over an extensive list of modern amenities. Based on customer reviews, the primary services and what campers can expect (or not expect) include:

  • Basic RV and Tent Sites: The campground primarily offers sites suitable for RVs and likely tent camping, leveraging its desirable riverside location.
  • Utility Hookups (Limited):
    • No Full Hookups: A key point explicitly stated by reviewers is "No full hookup sites." This means campers should not expect water, sewer, and electric connections at every site. Campers with RVs should be prepared to be self-contained or utilize alternative methods for waste disposal and water replenishment (e.g., central dump stations, water fill-up points, if available).
    • Electric (Inferred/Partial): While "no full hookup sites" is stated, some sites might offer partial hookups, most commonly electric. Campers should confirm specific utility availability upon booking, as it can vary.
  • Bath/Shower Facilities (Basic/Limited Maintenance): The campground does provide "bath/shower facilities," but customer reviews indicate these are "old and not cleaned regularly." Campers should manage expectations regarding the condition and cleanliness of these shared amenities and consider bringing their own portable shower or prioritizing self-contained RVs.
  • Direct River Access: While not a service in the traditional sense, the campground's direct placement "on the river" offers inherent access for activities like fishing or simply enjoying the riverside atmosphere.
  • Proximity to Madison Events: The campground's location serves as a de facto service for attending major local events. Campers can "come for the Madison. Regatta, Roostertail music," indicating that the location itself facilitates access to these cultural happenings.
  • Pet-Friendly (Inferred): While not explicitly stated, many rustic campgrounds are typically pet-friendly, allowing campers to bring their dogs. It's always best to confirm directly.

In summary, River Park Campground provides essential space for camping with unparalleled access to the Ohio River and Madison, IN, but campers should be prepared for basic or limited on-site amenities, especially concerning full hookups and maintained bathhouses.

Great location but quiet tightly packed I'm and you need to be on the front rows to get a view of the Ohio River. More for season stayers rather than tourers. Nice people running it and staying there though.
