Introduction / Overview
For New Yorkers seeking a traditional, nature-focused camping experience with the desirable convenience of modern amenities and proximity to the famous Lake George region, the Schroon River Campsites Inc presents a compelling option. Located in Warrensburg, NY, this extensive campground is situated on over 155 acres of scenic Adirondack landscape, with a significant portion of the property running alongside the sparkling clean Schroon River. This dual focus on natural beauty and essential resort amenities—such as a swimming pool and various recreational facilities—positions it as an ideal base camp for exploring the Southern Adirondacks.
Schroon River Campsites primarily serves a community of dedicated seasonal campers, who contribute to the established, quiet, and familiar atmosphere of the park. However, it also thoughtfully allocates sites for transient travelers, including both RV and tent campers looking for a weekend escape or a longer vacation stay. The experience here is characterized by the tranquil sounds of the river and the impressive views of the surrounding mountains from the open field areas. While reviews indicate that the park maintains a "no frills" feel focused on the core camping experience and may require patience with communication, the fundamentals—river access, clean facilities, and a central location—are firmly in place, making it a potential sanctuary for those who value peace and proximity to nature.

Quiet, no frills camping at it's finest. Mostly seasonal campers, but they do offer tent and RV sites. Beautiful view of the mountains from the field camping areas. Kayak/Canoe or tub launching area that allows you to float for a few hours to the other side of the campground. Office has basic necessities, candy, toys and such. Clean pool, bathrooms and shower house.
Sep 12, 2025 · Chrissie UlschtBe prepared. This was our first, and last stay. On the morning of our trip, I called and left messages regarding correct directions to their place. Answering machine(common pattern), no return call. I emailed with no response. About an hour out, I used Facebook messenger...it worked! They had zero record of our trip and they insisted we had wrong campground. I had to send a screenshot of our confirmation email. We were shocked when we pulled into our overgrown sites. The common sites along with the transient sites have weeds up to your knees. We actually lost our first set up day because our sites needed to be mowed. It was apparent they were not expecting us (after complaining they did send someone the next morning to mow). The mosquitoes are horrible!! Make sure to layer up and bring tons of bug spray!!! It's very hard to get anyone on the phone and our only saving grace was was FB messenger throughout our stay. The bathroom was very clean(zero hot water to wash your hands) along with the pool (we did not use showers so no review of them). Don't expect to use gameroom much or purchase items from campstore, they do not hold regular hours(we had to find places to buy wood and ice). Very hit or miss. This campground has so much potential but appears to be unkempt on purpose. Like they are going out of their way to devalue the land (this review will help them if that is indeed the case). It's really sad, it was probably a beautiful place once and has the potential to be a beautiful place again, if the owners cared.
Jul 12, 2022 · Joella HendersonHad reservation on the river side. Once I got there, I was moved to the entrance. (Without any explanation) what they told me was that someone was there already. In the morning those campers left leaving the site open again. I went back to the officer and they told me someone was going to that site. I spoke to the manager Madison she was useless.cause all she kept doing was rolling her eyes and sucking her teeth as I explained to her the situation. She didn't do anything about it and all she kept saying was that site wasn't available.. I camp all the time and this place really made me feel like I was being treated differently because of my race.. (Phyllis and May were very friendly and they try their best but unfortunately management needs to improve)
Sep 03, 2022 · Neida “nay” C.We stayed for 4 nights in the middle of July. We could not really stay outside cause there were too much mosquitos. The pool and the site in the open field were nice. Too bad we could not really enjoy because of the mosquito problem. I did not like the pine areas. To dark and road were too narrow for my truck/travel trailer. The camping needs maintenance work. Will not return.
Aug 03, 2017 · Jonathan LarocheStayed for the first time 4th of July weekend. The staff were very nice/friendly. The site was flat and grassy. Pet friendly. Bathrooms could use a little update. Showers had plenty of room with the attached changing area. Pool was big and had a new liner, very nice. Just reserved same site for labor day weekend.
