The recent change in ownership signals a fresh perspective and a commitment to enhancing the guest experience, with improvements already being noticed and more on the horizon. This dedication ensures that Shady Oaks is not just a place to stay, but a destination that cares about its visitors' comfort and enjoyment.

The park is particularly appreciated for its generous shade provided by numerous trees, offering a cool respite during warmer months. It caters to a diverse range of campers, from those needing full RV hookups to families with kids' tents. Furthermore, its pet-friendly policy, complete with a wooded trail for dog walks, makes it a welcoming spot for your furry companions. Shady Oaks Campground & RV Park is more than just a place to park; it’s a friendly community and a gateway to exploring the stunning natural beauty and charming small towns that define the Arkansas Ozarks.

Shady Oaks Campground & RV Park is conveniently located at 960 State Hwy 206, Harrison, AR 72601, USA. This prime location places it strategically in the Ozark Mountains, offering excellent accessibility for Arkansans traveling from various parts of the state and beyond.

The park is situated approximately 10 minutes south of the city of Harrison, a regional hub offering essential services, dining, and shopping options. This proximity allows campers to easily resupply or enjoy a meal out without straying too far from their peaceful retreat. Furthermore, Shady Oaks is located about 20 minutes north of Jasper, a charming town often considered the "Heart of the Ozarks" and a gateway to the Buffalo National River, a major attraction for floating, hiking, and exploring. This makes the campground an ideal base for venturing into the more rugged and renowned natural areas of the Ozarks.

Highway 206 itself is part of the scenic routes that wind through the beautiful countryside, making the drive to and from the campground an enjoyable part of the experience, especially for those on motorcycles or e-bikes. However, visitors should pay close attention when entering and exiting the driveway, as it is situated between two curves on the highway, requiring careful navigation – a point that is acknowledged by guests as a minor consideration rather than a fault of the park.

The surrounding area is a motorcyclist's dream, with countless scenic rides accessible directly from the park, allowing riders to experience the unparalleled beauty of the Ozark roads. This central yet secluded location ensures that campers at Shady Oaks can enjoy the tranquility of nature while remaining well-connected to nearby towns and major recreational opportunities, making it a highly accessible and desirable choice for Arkansas locals.

  • Bagged Ice Available (Planned/Normally Available): Similar to LP gas, bagged ice is typically available on-site, a small but essential convenience for campers, with repairs or parts awaited under new management.

  • Pet-Friendly Amenities: Shady Oaks is highly welcoming to pets. There is a nice trail in a wooded area specifically for dogs, making it ideal for pet owners. While a larger dog park for big dogs is a suggestion, the current provisions are well-received.

  • Playground and Games for Kids: For families, the park provides a playground and fun games, ensuring children have dedicated spaces for entertainment and play.

  • Helpful and Friendly Staff: The staff, including specific mentions of Johanna and Rocky, are consistently described as very pleasant, helpful, and accommodating, contributing significantly to a positive guest experience.

Shady Oaks Campground & RV Park, while providing a wealth of amenities and a fantastic location, focuses on delivering value through its comprehensive offerings and continuous improvements rather than traditional seasonal discounts. However, understanding their approach to value can be beneficial for Arkansans planning their stays.

The park's pricing structure is designed to reflect the quality of its full hookup sites, clean facilities, and the overall peaceful environment. While specific daily, weekly, or monthly rates are not detailed in the provided information, it's reasonable to expect competitive pricing that aligns with the amenities and prime location offered in the Ozarks. For long-term stays, which are often popular at RV parks, visitors should inquire directly for any extended-stay rates, as these typically offer better value than nightly rates.

The most significant "special offer" or value proposition currently is the ongoing revitalization under new ownership. While some amenities like LP gas refills and bagged ice were temporarily unavailable as repairs and parts were awaited, the commitment to getting these services "up and running" and the consideration of "updating bathhouses and laundry facility" indicate a forward-thinking approach. This means that visitors who choose Shady Oaks are investing in a park that is actively being improved and enhanced, promising an even better experience in the near future. This 'work in progress' status, coupled with the currently well-received quiet atmosphere and helpful staff, presents an excellent opportunity to experience the park as it evolves.

Furthermore, the park's pet-friendly policy and dedicated dog trail, while having a fee structure for pets, can be seen as a valuable offering for locals who travel with their furry companions, as not all parks cater to pets as thoughtfully. The strong Wi-Fi and family-friendly amenities like playgrounds also add significant value without necessarily being a "discount." It's always best to contact the park directly at (870) 743-2343 to inquire about current rates, availability, and the status of any ongoing improvements or services.

We had a great stay at the park, it was very quiet and everyone was very nice and helpful. It has recently been bought and changed I'm sure are coming. We loved our spot #28! It's off season so campground was pretty empty. Nice trail in the wooded area, my dogs loved! Johanna and Rocky were very pleasant and most helpful! New owner should consider updating bathhouses and laundry facility. Bigger dog park for large dogs would be great! We would definitely come back!! Oh and this is just for info, driveway is tricky coming out, as you are between 2 curves (pay close attention) not the owners fault by any means! We rode our motorcycle and e-bikes, beautiful countryside without a doubt!!! We didn't see Ruth or Marty, this was disappointing! IYKYK🤣🤣❣️❣️

This is a great RV park in a great location, about 10 min South of Harrison and approximately 20 minutes north of Jasper. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We have a 29' camper and it was *tight* to get into our spot, but the staff was very helpful in helping us navigate the wooded lots. Full hook ups available and room for our kids tent. Plenty of shade. Clean bathrooms and showers available. Fun games and playground for the kids. WiFi was strong and fast enough to stream TV shows/movies. They normally have LP gas refills available on site but were not yet up and running after a change in ownership. Similarly, normally there is bagged ice available on site but the machine was awaiting repairs/parts. We had a great experience and will definitely be back.

Sites are decent size and facilities are clean. They require some slight leveling but not more than a few inches on most. We had one of the larger rigs in the park (not the largest) but we still had plenty of room on our site. They have a common area that we used for a common viewing for a few sporting events while there. They sell firewood and pickup trash. Sites have picnic tables and fire pits. Trees are tight but they help guide you in even on late arrival. They are really nice folks running the place. The entrance is clearly marked which was really helpful because it is around a tricky crossroads. Had to plan our exit because of all the trees and using our pull through site would have meant squeezing through some tight turns. It was doable but easier to back out to get to the exit. It was a good stay with friends.
