Shangri La About
For many Floridians, finding a comfortable, affordable, and community-oriented place to call home is a top priority. The Sunshine State offers a diverse range of living options, and mobile home and RV parks have long been a popular choice for their unique blend of value, lifestyle, and often, a strong sense of neighborhood camaraderie. These communities provide a distinct alternative to traditional housing, appealing to individuals and families seeking a more manageable living solution in a desirable location.
A mobile home park is a dedicated residential community designed to accommodate manufactured homes, and often, RVs for both short-term and long-term stays. Residents typically own their homes and lease the land, which can often result in lower overall housing costs compared to purchasing a traditional site-built home. Beyond the basic utilities and individual home sites, well-established parks often feature shared amenities and common areas that foster social interaction and recreational opportunities among residents. This model of living can be particularly attractive in Florida, where the temperate climate encourages outdoor activities and community engagement year-round.
Shangri La, situated in Lakeland, Florida, is one such community that caters to the mobile home and potentially RV lifestyle. Understanding the benefits and characteristics of a mobile home and RV park is crucial for anyone considering this housing option. These communities can be an excellent fit for various demographics, from retirees looking for a peaceful environment and active social life to individuals and families seeking an affordable entry point into homeownership within a supportive neighborhood.
The appeal of mobile home and RV living in Florida often extends beyond just the financial aspects. Many residents appreciate the relaxed atmosphere, the close-knit feel of the community, and the ability to personalize their living space. The shared amenities, which can vary widely from park to park, often include recreational facilities, communal gathering spaces, and sometimes even organized activities that bring residents together. This focus on community building can create a welcoming and engaging environment, making it easier for new residents to settle in and feel at home.
When exploring options for mobile home or RV living, it’s always beneficial to gather comprehensive information about the park's location, the services it provides, and any unique features that stand out. This will help you determine if a particular community, like Shangri La, aligns with your lifestyle preferences and housing needs. For those looking for a practical and community-focused living arrangement in the Lakeland area, mobile home parks offer a compelling alternative that deserves consideration.
Shangri La is conveniently located at 2850 New Tampa Hwy, Lakeland, FL 33815, USA. Lakeland is a vibrant city in Polk County, situated in the heart of Florida, strategically positioned between the major metropolitan areas of Tampa and Orlando. This central location offers residents the best of both worlds: the charm and slower pace of a mid-sized Florida city, coupled with excellent accessibility to major attractions, employment centers, and coastal areas.
The address on New Tampa Highway (US Highway 92) places Shangri La on a well-trafficked thoroughfare, ensuring ease of access. US-92 is a significant east-west road that connects various parts of Lakeland and extends to neighboring cities. Furthermore, the park’s proximity to Interstate 4 (I-4) is a considerable advantage. I-4 is a critical interstate highway in Florida, providing direct routes to Orlando and its world-renowned theme parks (Walt Disney World, Universal Studios), as well as to Tampa, home to Raymond James Stadium, Busch Gardens, and a major international airport.
Living in Lakeland offers residents a rich array of local amenities. The city is known for its beautiful lakes, including Lake Hollingsworth and Lake Mirror, which provide opportunities for recreation such as walking, jogging, and watersports. Downtown Lakeland boasts a lively arts and culture scene, with museums, galleries, and a variety of dining and shopping options. The city also hosts numerous community events and festivals throughout the year, fostering a strong sense of local pride and engagement.

However, it is critical to note that reviews raise significant concerns about maintenance responsiveness, communication, and overall management service, particularly regarding issues like "rotted" homes and unaddressed bug problems. Prospective residents should thoroughly investigate these aspects.

- Pet-Friendly: While not explicitly stated in the provided text for Shangri La, mobile home parks often are, and this could be an important feature for many Floridians.
It is important to acknowledge that some reviews directly contradict the implied positives, citing issues such as homes "literally falling apart," lack of maintenance, and unresponsive management. These aspects should be thoroughly investigated by any interested party.
Based on the provided information, Shangri La actively promotes several offers to attract residents:
- Keep Your Home, Change Your Address: The park offers "incentives to move your home to our community" and encourages prospective residents to "Call today for lot availability and incentives" if they wish to bring their existing mobile home.
- Low Monthly Payments and Flexible Finance Options: For those looking to own, the park advertises "Low monthly payments, flexible finance options and the ability to improve on your own investment." They also provide a "Payment Calculator" tool.
- Resident Referral Program: There's a "Resident Referral" program, stating, "Make money now by referring a friend/family/co-workers."
While these promotions are advertised, prospective residents should verify all terms and conditions directly with park management. Given the negative reviews regarding management, it is crucial to ensure clarity and transparency on all financial and contractual agreements.

Given the significant concerns raised in customer reviews regarding poor customer service, unreturned calls, and office hours, it is highly advisable for prospective residents to be persistent in their attempts to contact the park. If possible, a visit to the on-site office during stated hours or an attempt to speak with existing residents could provide invaluable direct insight into the current living conditions and management responsiveness before making any commitments.
For Floridians seeking an affordable and community-oriented living option in the vibrant heart of the state, Shangri La in Lakeland offers a compelling proposition due to its strategic location. Situated on New Tampa Highway, the park provides excellent accessibility to major transportation routes like US-92 and Interstate 4 (I-4). This means residents can easily commute to significant employment hubs in Tampa, explore the world-renowned theme parks in Orlando, and access a wide array of shopping, dining, and healthcare facilities that make Central Florida so desirable.
Lakeland itself is a city rich in local amenities, boasting beautiful lakes perfect for recreation, a lively downtown arts and culture scene, and numerous community events. The park's self-description as a "Family-Friendly Manufactured Home Community" with on-site amenities like a clubhouse and playground suggests an environment designed to foster social interaction and a sense of belonging, which is often a key appeal for locals looking for more than just a place to live, but a genuine community. The advertised low monthly payments and flexible finance options also present a potentially more accessible path to homeownership for many Floridians, offering an attractive alternative to traditional housing costs.
However, it is absolutely essential for prospective residents to conduct extensive due diligence regarding the serious concerns raised in multiple customer reviews. These reviews highlight significant issues with management responsiveness, property maintenance (including "rotted" homes and pest problems), and overall customer service. While the concept and location of Shangri La hold strong appeal for the Florida lifestyle, these documented challenges indicate that the actual living experience may fall short of expectations. Therefore, for locals considering Shangri La, it is crucial to thoroughly investigate these claims, communicate directly and clearly with park management, and ideally, speak with current residents to obtain a complete and realistic understanding of daily life within the community before making any commitments. The suitability of this park will largely depend on the resolution of these reported issues and the individual's comfort level after a comprehensive investigation.
Customer Reviews
Poor Customer Service & Management. The office hours needs to be changed.Office is never opened on time. Amber Meader the community manager is very unprofessional, rude and always have a bad attitude that sits on her face along with the body language like she don't wanna be bothered. You have to wait days or maybe weeks for maintenance to service your home. These homes are literally falling apart and its like no one cares. The phones is not being answered both cell and office phone. I have to be consistent with calling because calls don't ever be returned. Its bad enough that some of us residents have to go knocking on her door because she do live in the community and still gets no response. This is not a good look. It makes myself and others feel bad that we're not being acknowledge in the community we live in and have to pay rent on time monthly. She expects us to pay rent when all our homes are rotted. I called the help center number and even sent email and still nothing.
I loved the place. The staff, she was very helpful, she listened to what I was looking for and showed me the ones that would fit perfect for my family. Looking at the places they have available. I'm excited to go back to pick which one I want.
Don't do it! That's all I can say. When I moved in, 3 yes ago,I was told we would have a laundry. Here it is years later no laundry. They advertise we have a lake! We do not. It is a retention pond. I own my home but lot rent has gone from 395 to almost 600 just for lot rent. I'd like to sell but the lot rent keeps going up. It's not worth the lot rent.No amenities what so ever.
I am genuinely impressed with the level of care and consideration provided by Michelle she goes above and beyond ensuring the well-being of the community always being attentive to tenants needs. her involvement in community affairs reflects to making residents Happy it’s rare to find such dedication, and it truly enhances our living experience. kudos to Michelle for making our community a wonderful place to call home! And thank you for everything !
I had to give this place a 1 star just to write a review. This place was the worst place to live, the months I lived there, they charged me high water bills, which I later found out I was paying for the whole trailer parks water. The manager told me there would be a reimbursement if I kept paying it until they got it straightened out,or I could break my lease without repercussions, which was a lie because later they tried to put it against my credit which I had taken off. I never got my deposit back or money back for water. Also witnessed maintenance guy using peoples water hoses while they weren’t home to flush sewer systems out, they were always drinking also, not very professional if you ask me.Wouldn’t recommend this place to noone
