Southbound RV Park About
When planning an RV trip or seeking a temporary home base in Oklahoma, finding the right RV park is key to a comfortable and enjoyable experience. For those looking within the Stillwater area, Southbound RV Park presents itself as a notable option. This article aims to provide a comprehensive and factual overview of Southbound RV Park, helping local Oklahomans and visitors alike make informed decisions about their RV accommodations.
Southbound RV Park is designed to offer a practical and accessible lodging solution for RV travelers. Whether you’re passing through, visiting Oklahoma State University (OSU), or in need of a longer-term spot, this park provides the fundamental services required for an RV stay. The park emphasizes convenience and a straightforward approach to RV living, catering to guests who prioritize essential hookups and a no-frills environment. While some RV parks focus on resort-style amenities, Southbound RV Park appears to cater to those seeking a more functional and perhaps quieter setting for their RV. It's important to set expectations based on this focus, understanding that the park aims to provide necessary infrastructure rather than extensive recreational facilities.
It's worth noting that customer experiences can vary, and perspectives on what makes an RV park ideal differ greatly. Some previous guests have highlighted areas they felt could be improved, such as noise levels and the presence of ongoing work. Others have noted the gravel parking throughout and the "back-to-back" nature of some pull-through sites. Reviews also mention the pricing structure, with some suggesting a lower comparable price. For those considering a stay, it’s advisable to contact the park directly to discuss any concerns and clarify current conditions and pricing, especially regarding utility costs and trash services, which have been mentioned as potentially high by some past guests.
Ultimately, Southbound RV Park aims to be a functional choice for RVers in the Stillwater area. Its primary appeal lies in its utility for those seeking basic, reliable services for their RV. As with any accommodation, individual preferences and priorities will shape the overall experience.
Stillwater, Oklahoma, offers a variety of attractions and activities for visitors and residents. RV parks like Southbound RV Park serve as a base to explore this vibrant college town and its surroundings. From sporting events at OSU to local dining and natural areas, there's something for many interests. The presence of multiple RV parks in the Stillwater area indicates a demand for flexible lodging options, catering to a diverse range of travelers from those attending gamedays to individuals on extended work assignments.
As a local in Oklahoma, you might be familiar with the charm of Stillwater. It's a city that balances academic energy with a friendly, community-oriented atmosphere. Having an RV park like Southbound RV Park nearby offers flexibility for guests, allowing them to immerse themselves in the local culture while maintaining the comforts of their own RV. This type of accommodation can be particularly appealing for those attending events at OSU, such as football games or graduation ceremonies, or for individuals undertaking temporary work in the area. The ability to bring your own living space can provide a sense of familiarity and cost-effectiveness compared to traditional hotel stays, especially for longer durations. The proximity to Stillwater means guests can easily access local businesses, restaurants, and entertainment options, further enhancing their stay.
Location and Accessibility
Southbound RV Park is conveniently located at 606 E 32nd Ave, Stillwater, OK 74074, USA. This address places it within the Stillwater region, offering a balance of being accessible from main routes while providing a slightly removed, potentially quieter environment compared to being directly in the bustling city center. Stillwater itself is situated in Payne County, in north-central Oklahoma, making it a relatively central location within the state for those traveling from different directions.
For RV travelers, accessibility to and from major roadways is a significant factor. Stillwater is served by several state highways, including Oklahoma State Highway 51, U.S. Route 177, and U.S. Route 64. This network of roads typically allows for relatively easy navigation for RVs, which require more space for maneuvering than standard vehicles. The park's specific address suggests it's not directly on a major highway, which can contribute to a more peaceful setting, yet it remains within a reasonable distance for essential services and attractions in Stillwater.
Stillwater is known for being the home of Oklahoma State University, which is a major draw for visitors. The distance from Southbound RV Park to the OSU campus and its various athletic facilities would be a key consideration for those attending events there. While not immediately adjacent to the university, its location within Stillwater means that travel times to campus, local shops, and restaurants would likely be manageable by car or other transportation methods.
The general landscape around Stillwater is typical of north-central Oklahoma, featuring rolling plains and agricultural areas, which often contribute to a sense of openness and natural beauty. For RVers, this can mean more expansive views and a less confined feeling than parks in densely urbanized areas. However, some past guests have described the park as having "gravel parking throughout," indicating that the immediate environment of the park itself is not heavily landscaped with grass or natural ground cover at each site. This is a common feature in many RV parks, prioritizing practicality and drainage.
For those concerned about proximity to necessities, Stillwater offers a range of grocery stores, gas stations, and other retail outlets. The park's location, being within Stillwater, implies reasonable access to these amenities, although some past reviews have suggested it might be "too far out from any store, grocery etc." This highlights the importance of checking precise distances based on individual needs and preferences. However, most RV parks aim to be within a convenient drive of basic services, and Stillwater as a city generally provides these.
Services Offered
Southbound RV Park aims to provide the essential services needed for a comfortable RV stay. Based on available information, the park focuses on core utilities and a few convenient amenities to support its guests. It is important to note that specific details regarding certain services (like propane availability or specific laundry facilities) can vary or change, and direct confirmation with the park is always recommended. However, common offerings at such parks typically include:
- Full Hookups: This is a fundamental service for RV parks, providing water, sewer, and electricity connections at each site. This allows RVers to operate their onboard facilities without relying solely on their tanks or batteries.
- 30 and 50 Amp Electric Service: Catering to a variety of RV sizes and power requirements, the availability of both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical hookups ensures compatibility for most modern RVs.
- Gravel Sites: The park features gravel parking throughout its sites. While this offers practicality for drainage and stability, some guests may prefer concrete pads or grassy areas.
- Pull-Through and Back-In Sites: Offering different site configurations to accommodate various RV lengths and driver preferences. Pull-through sites are generally easier for larger rigs to navigate.
- Trash Disposal: Essential for any extended stay, proper waste disposal facilities are typically provided. However, a past review mentioned a "trash is 55 bucks month. Once week if lucky, they pick up," which suggests there might be a specific fee or limited pickup schedule for trash services. It would be prudent to inquire about current trash services and any associated costs.
Features / Highlights
While Southbound RV Park focuses on practical amenities, there are a few features that highlight its offering for RV guests. It's important to contextualize these features within the overall park environment, taking into account varied guest experiences. Some of the features that can be inferred or are commonly expected from an RV park like Southbound RV Park include:
- Full Hookup Sites: The primary highlight is the provision of full hookup sites, including water, sewer, and electricity (30 and 50 amp options). This is fundamental for most RV travelers and allows for self-contained living.
- Accessibility for Various RV Sizes: The inclusion of both pull-through and back-in sites suggests the park can accommodate a range of RVs, from smaller travel trailers to larger motorhomes.
- Proximity to Stillwater: Its location in Stillwater means relatively easy access to local amenities, including Oklahoma State University, dining establishments, and shopping centers. This can be a significant advantage for those visiting the area for specific events or extended stays related to the university or local businesses.
- Long-Term Stay Options: The park appears to cater to both short-term and potentially long-term guests, providing an option for those needing extended accommodations in the Stillwater area. This can be particularly appealing for temporary workers or students.
- Gravel Parking: While some might see this as a drawback, gravel provides a stable and often well-drained surface for RV parking, which can be a practical feature in various weather conditions.
Promotions or Special Offers
Information regarding specific, regularly advertised promotions or special offers for Southbound RV Park is not widely available in public data. RV parks often have fluctuating rates based on seasonality, local events (like OSU game days), and the duration of stay (daily, weekly, monthly). While some RV parks might offer discounts for military personnel, first responders, or loyalty programs, it is crucial to inquire directly with Southbound RV Park about any current promotions they may have. It's common for rates to be higher during peak seasons or major university events. Therefore, to get the most accurate information on pricing and any potential deals, contacting the park directly is the best approach. It's also advisable to ask about any additional fees, such as those for utilities (water, electricity) or trash collection, as these can impact the total cost of a stay, as suggested by some past customer feedback.

Instead of booking hotel rooms, an RV stay provides the comfort of your own space, often at a different price point, especially for longer durations. Secondly, for Oklahomans who own RVs, having a reliable park that offers full hookups for short or long-term stays is a practical solution. It means you have a go-to spot when you need a temporary residence for renovations at home, family visits, or simply a change of scenery without venturing far from familiar territory. The park's emphasis on providing basic, functional services aligns with the needs of those seeking a straightforward and efficient RV experience, rather than extensive recreational amenities that might not always be utilized by those with a local focus.
While some past reviews highlight potential drawbacks like noise or specific service aspects, it's crucial for locals to consider their individual priorities. For those who value the independence of RV travel, seek a cost-effective alternative to traditional lodging, or require a base near Stillwater for practical reasons, Southbound RV Park can fit the bill. The ability to directly communicate with the park and clarify current conditions and rates is a key step to ensure it meets your specific needs. In essence, Southbound RV Park serves as a functional and accessible RV destination in the heart of Oklahoma, providing a suitable option for those who find value in its core offerings and convenient Stillwater location.
Customer Reviews
I stayed one night. When I was setting up, prepaid site, a young lady drove up wondering what I was doing there. Asked if I had a reservation...then found it and said she thought it was for the next day. Workmen and trucks working on the RV park were a little too much, no peace. Pull through sites are back to back. Gravel parking throughout. Noisy at night. Comparable price should be $25.
Looks like crackhead heaven. Burnt down rvs! No way! What a joke! Water so expensive you can afford nothing else. Trash is 55 bucks month. Once week if lucky, they pick up. To pricy. No payment. No shelter. No extras. No on site mrg. Dump behind the residence. Lots cats. Kids minimum. Established neighbors wonderful when quiet..... TO far out from any store, grocery etc. Highland park school district. Lots of older people so quiet
I spent a few weeks here this fall and it was absolutely fantastic! The park is clean and quiet, it has full hookups, and the staff have been wonderful. No Laundry or WiFi but if you want left to your own peace and quiet this is the place. Only 1 mile south of Stillwater had no trouble getting deliveries, only a few minutes from Spin City, all in all a great time and a great place to stay. Thank You Sarah, see you guys next time.
the people here in this park sit here and lie and let these people get away with it I think they like to bully . Me And my wife and she is on oxygen she cannot take that kind of stress and harassing this is the Worst campground we’ ever stayed in. We have traveled through 50 states over last 4 years and 2 months and this campground is a dump. It looks nothing like the pictures and there isn’t even A office. And they put their camera facing my front door. That’s our privacy Let me tell you something I am more than a man you think I am you would never take that away what you are just a fool PS let me tell you This God is more powerful than all of us you would never take that love in my heart Away I am a lot stronger than that we are veterans we will 🇺🇸stand tall 🇺🇸
Stayed here for almost two months in the fall. No complaints at all. Management was great to work with , very nice and seems to have a vision to keep improving the park. Park was overall quiet and would stay there again. Location to Stillwater is great as well.
