Beautiful, quiet campground. Lots of wildlife and tall trees. We stayed here to visit the Deep Creek Lake area and WV. We found it convenient to both. It's great to stay somewhere so close to the Swallow Falls Trail. It was so pretty that I did the hike twice. The sites are not super spacious, but plenty big enough for a tent. The rangers and staff at the camp store were friendly. I'd camp here again!
Jul 26, 2023 · KristinA nice quiet campground. Some of the pads are not particularly level and the bath house showers could use updating but a nice place to get away and be in nature. It is very convient to the 1.5 mile trail that takes you to waterfalls and a 5.5 mile mountain bike trail to Herrington Manor State park. The bike trail is strenuous and rocky at parts, not a ride for young children.
Jun 12, 2018 · Michael WigfieldPretty nice and good sized tent campsites with picnic tables and dust-gravel tent pads. The fire pits have grills on them. There are large bathrooms with showers. I had a dog with me, which was welcomed on the campgrounds. However, when I arrived I found out that between Memorial Day and Labor Day pets are not allowed on the main trail that has all of the good waterfall views. The friendly staff informed me of an alternate trail on the other side of the river that they called the Fisherman’s trail. It followed the river but the views of the waterfalls were more obstructed than the main. It was still nice and much if it went along some very cool rocks/cliffs. There is another trail where pets are allowed that starts from the campground and goes to Harrington Manor State Park. Staying at Swallow Falls also gave me free entrance to that park by vehicle as well.
Jun 19, 2019 · Reid MayNice campground. Very limited electric/water hookups; mostly primitive. Also, short driveways on most sites, so camping is not very far back in woods, which is a tad disappointing; be selective on your site. Bathrooms are sufficiently clean; fire rings are fancy. A couple of simple playgrounds for kids (swings, climbing bars). The best part of the campground is convenience of hiking the canyon trail and seeing Tolliver Falls, Upper / Lower Swallow Falls, and Muddy Creek Falls. 5+ mile trail to Herrington Manor is on the next trip wishlist. Campground itself is not crowded during week, but on a cloudy day the trail and falls part get very crowded! Lakeside Creamery has a food trailer there too! Great place.
Jul 29, 2022 · Paul LayerAmazing waterfalls and trails, tiny sites (barely big enough to set up 2 tents) very close to one another. Had to leave early because of sounds of constant gunfire from somewhere nearby the entire weekend (our dog got super stressed by it).
