***Introduction / Overview***
For New York residents planning a getaway to the world-renowned Lake George region, **Lake George Camping Village** presents an exceptional blend of secluded Adirondack charm and resort-style convenience. Located a short drive—just 1.7 miles—from the vibrant Lake George Village, this family campground strikes a perfect balance: it’s close enough to the action but removed enough to offer a peaceful, wooded escape from the summer crowds. Operating for over 48 years, the Village has become a beloved destination for families, accommodating everything from two-person tents to large, 42-foot RVs.
Unlike some campgrounds situated directly in the bustle of the village, Lake George Camping Village boasts a rustic, mountain setting on a 120-plus-acre property, allowing for more privacy and a genuine sense of being in the woods. Many of the sites are noted by local patrons for being heavily shaded and wooded, which offers a cool respite during the warmest months and creates a more authentic camping atmosphere. The campground’s commitment to providing a full-service experience means campers of all types—whether seeking full hookups or just a cozy tent site—can find their perfect spot to relax after a long day of exploring Lake George's mountain trails or cruising the lake’s pristine waters. The consistently high praise for the friendly and attentive management and maintenance staff highlights a focus on exceptional customer service, making it a reliable choice for New York families.
***Location and Accessibility***
Lake George Camping Village is situated at **43 Finkle Farm Road, Lake George, NY 12845, USA**. This address places it in a prime, yet tranquil, location off the main tourist artery, offering a peaceful retreat while maintaining superb accessibility to all local attractions.
Its position just 1.7 miles from the center of Lake George Village is a major draw for local users. It’s far enough outside "the madness," as one reviewer noted, to minimize noise and traffic congestion but close enough for a quick three-minute drive to the lake, Million Dollar Beach, dining, and shopping. For those arriving from the south, the campground is conveniently located only about 2.5 miles off Interstate 87 (the Adirondack Northway), making the trip seamless. The private road entrance, however, requires attention; travelers are advised to make wide turns when pulling into the park to avoid scraping. Once inside, the campground is extensive, featuring gravel and paved roads that can be steep in certain sections, which is typical for a true mountain setting. This location gives New Yorkers the best of both worlds: a shaded, mountain-air camp feel with immediate access to a world-class resort town, theme parks like The Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom, and outdoor activities like the Prospect Mountain Trail and numerous outlets for shopping.
***Services Offered***

Lake George Camping Village is perfectly suited for New York State residents who desire a comprehensive, family-friendly camping experience without having to sacrifice proximity to the Adirondacks' premier resort town. For the local New Yorker, this campground offers the best strategic location: it provides the essential “getaway” feeling of a serene, heavily wooded mountain camp, a feature that distinguishes it from more densely packed or roadside options. At the same time, it keeps families connected to the abundant activities of the area.
This destination allows families to efficiently use their vacation time by combining outdoor relaxation with resort-style amenities like a heated pool and a wide range of sports courts. Crucially, its multiple hookup options, including 50-amp service for larger RVs, ensure that those who have invested in comfortable camping equipment can utilize it fully. The consistently high marks for customer service indicate a management team dedicated to making the experience pleasant and hassle-free, which is invaluable to locals returning year after year. By providing a clean, service-oriented base camp just outside the main tourist congestion, Lake George Camping Village offers New York families an ideal, authentic, and convenient Adirondack vacation.

Beginning of off-season and had a wonderful experience. Management and maintenance staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, never have I had this kind of effort put forth at a campground to ensure we were taken care of. Some sites are close but wooded enough that they feel private. We will definitely be booking here any time we're visiting Lake George with the camper in tow.
Sep 16, 2025 · Catherine RichWe had site 111 which is a very nice and large site with no neighbors. You are close to the road but I enjoy the white noise that the road offers, so I don’t mind lol. The water pressure was not the best but it helps conserve water, so 🤷🏼♀️. The sewer connection wouldn’t screw in properly and is at an angle. I think adding an elbow to make it straight up would help. We had lots of shade and never had to run the A/C which is always nice. Make a wide turn when pulling into the park, we saw many people bottom out and you can see the scrapes on the pavement where others have done the same. The roads are gravel and steep in some spots but we didn’t have issues. The park is huge and offers many ways to camp. Everything was clean. The pool looked awesome. There’s laundry in multiple spots of the park. Very cheap too! You’re close to Lake George Village but you’re just outside the madness. Overall it’s a really nice park. The employees we encountered were nice too.
Aug 07, 2025 · Katie RobbLovely experience. Went for the balloon fest with friends. I stayed at a Basic Tent Site and other group at a cabin. Friendly, ultra helpful staff. Camp wash rooms were kept very clean and tidy. Peaceful, gorgeous grounds with great staff
Sep 23, 2025 · Val CattAwesome camping spot! Very quiet and decently spread out. Shop had ice cream and snacks along with other camping needs. Staff were friendly too. The pool was very clean and was heated. There was a playground area off to the side and a few tennis courts as well. Showers, bathrooms and washing machines were at the main building and spread out along the road. Coffee was nice in the mornings. I enjoyed my stay, the only negative is that the firewood they sell doesn’t burn very well.
Jul 25, 2025 · ElizabethWe booked a cabin for a few nights and although one of the days was probably the coldest and wettest day the whole summer we still had a great time!! At the main barn area there was ping pong, a pool table, corn hole a playground for the kids which included a giant volleyball pit and a basketball court and a tv amongst many other games. The kids swam and played outside despite the rain and we hung out inside with food and drinks and were able to watch the Yankees game while playing ping pong or whatever else. It was amazing. The cabin we stayed in was also perfect for our family of 5. Everyone slept great and the cabin stayed warm despite chillier temperatures at night and had it been warm there was an air conditioner available. We will definitely be staying there again.
