Swanzey Lake Camping Area is conveniently nestled at 88 E Shore Rd, Swanzey, NH 03446, USA. This prime location places it in the sought-after Monadnock Region of Southwestern New Hampshire, famous for its rolling hills, forests, and outdoor recreation. The proximity to Swanzey Lake is a major draw, with the campground located not far from the shore of the crystal-clear water.
The grounds are easily accessible via local New Hampshire routes, making it a manageable drive for residents across the state and a perfect spot for a weekend trip. While located in a woodsy, natural setting, the campground is also conveniently close to the town of Keene, ensuring that any necessary shopping or dining is just a short drive away. This balance of secluded natural beauty and nearby urban convenience is one of its most attractive features for local users. The majority of the park’s sites are thoughtfully situated in a very wooded area, promising ample shade and the comforting sounds of the forest, reinforcing the "country camping" feel. Campers should be mindful that access to the beautiful sandy beach and lake may require crossing a public road, a small detail to keep in mind, especially with children.

An emergency lay over due to mechanical issues with my camper. Swanzey campground was able to accommodate me with a 4 night stay on a site, while I made repairs to my camper wheels brakes & bearings. This campground is a Hidden Gem, quiet and relaxing and peaceful. FHU on site, reasonable rates. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful with whatever you need, I even had Amazon delivery to the camp store. Next time I'm up from South Carolina, I'll be staying here at Swanzey campground. Blessings to you all. & Thank you. James
Jun 30, 2025 · JamesAs a family of three (two adults and a K9) we were looking for a last minute location for camping by tent. I called around to multiple places and settled on Swanzey Lake Campgrounds due to the nature of my initial conversation. The welcoming exchange did not stop at our initial phone conversation. Needless to say we decided to give this campsite a chance and are so very happy that we did. The grounds were clean with easy access and the staff were as kind and friendly as one would hope for. Upon arrival they were upgrading some of their online services which made credit card payment impossible. I was willing to drive to get cash to which I was informed, "stop by tomorrow. We can take care of it then." Gotta say, not many people nor places would be that generous. At every turn we were met with the nicest of people. We truly want to thank them for an amazing camping experience. One for the books.
Aug 18, 2024 · David DeslauriersI just spent 4 nights at this amazing campground. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The site I had was private and very clean with plenty of room. The lake is crystal clear with a very nice grass area and beach. The bathrooms are very clean, and the campstore was well equipped with lots of cool things. I will be back !!
Aug 14, 2024 · Leslie BennettJust left swanzey lake camping area and I have to say, we really enjoyed our time there! The sites are wooded although you can see your neighbors (we went with friends so it was great, could have been awkward otherwise) LOVED their lake area. Clean beach with a raft to swim out to, plus a section for dogs to enjoy !! Nice big grassy lawn to enjoy cornhole and other yard games. Store was fun, lacked some common supplies but..... everyone that works there was super friendly. Plus there's good hiking and covered bridges to explore close by. We will definitely be going back
Sep 02, 2024 · Sheila GWe do a lot of camping all around the East Coast. Swansy lake campground, has a good location and the people are nice, but they have clearly prioritized profits over maintenance. It needs about a 1000 trees taken town. The roads need to be maintained and widened. The main drawback is the lack of bathroom facilities and showers. In the campground, there's absolutely nothing. (well, there are a few old fashioned dirt outhouses) And across the street, a 5 minute walk there is a small shower facility with coin operated showers two each and a real toilet. Considering the profits from hundreds of campsites (that were full) this level of no facilities is inexcusable. That said, we had no problems overall and the beach area was very well maintained.
