Features / Highlights

  • Direct ATV/UTV Trail Access: This is arguably one of the biggest draws. Campers can ride directly from their sites onto over 200 miles of scenic ATV/UTV trails, offering an unparalleled off-road adventure right from their doorstep. This eliminates the hassle of trailering machines to separate trailheads.

  • Proximity to Caldron Lake: Located just across the road from the 1,300-acre Caldron Lake, guests have immediate access to a fantastic recreational lake for swimming, fishing, and boating. This dual access to land and water activities is a significant advantage.

  • Diverse Accommodation Options: Whether you prefer the comfort of a fully-equipped RV with full hookups, the rustic charm of a tent site, or the convenience of a cozy, furnished cabin, Thornton's offers a variety of choices to suit different budgets and preferences. The cabins are particularly praised for being clean and comfortable.

  • On-site Adventure Rentals: The convenience of renting UTVs, kayaks, and boats directly from the resort is a huge highlight. This means even if you don't own the equipment, you can still fully experience the local trails and waterways.

  • Family-Friendly Atmosphere with On-site Entertainment: The Camp Inn bar provides a lively, family-friendly atmosphere with games like pool and darts, and often features live music and DJs on weekends. This creates a social hub where guests can relax and enjoy themselves without leaving the resort.

  • "Great Service from Owners": Customer reviews consistently highlight the excellent service provided by the owners, indicating a welcoming, attentive, and friendly environment that enhances the overall guest experience. This personal touch often makes a significant difference.

  • Spacious Sites: Many RV sites are noted for being "huge and private," offering ample space for campers to spread out, relax, and enjoy their surroundings without feeling cramped.

Promotions or Special Offers

Thornton's RV Resort and Campground, while focused on providing a quality experience, does occasionally feature special offers to enhance guest value. Based on public information, here are some considerations regarding promotions:

  • Daily Rates and Potential Specials: While general rates for RV sites and cabins are provided (e.g., RV sites from ~$49/night for partial hookups, cabins from ~$129/night), the resort's website has indicated a "Special Offer!" for a daily rate of $30 per night at times. This suggests that competitive daily rates may be available, possibly during off-peak seasons or as limited-time incentives.

  • Long-Term and Seasonal Site Options: For those looking for an extended stay, Thornton's offers long-term and seasonal RV sites. While specific percentage discounts aren't always explicitly detailed as "promotions," the cost savings for long-term commitment compared to daily rates can be substantial. For instance, some seasonal offers might include significant savings or credits towards annual leases.

  • Package Deals (Implied with Rentals): While not explicitly "promotions" in the form of discounts, the convenience of on-site UTV, kayak, and boat rentals, as highlighted in customer reviews, acts as a value-add. While these rentals have their own rates (e.g., UTVs from $250/full day), the ease of access and "smooth and issue free" rental process enhances the overall experience and could be considered a form of value-added offering.

  • Seasonal Operations: The campground typically operates from April 15 to October 31. Visiting during the shoulder seasons (spring or fall) might inherently offer more competitive rates and less crowded conditions compared to peak summer months, which can be a practical "promotion" for savvy campers.

For the most current and precise information on any active promotions, special packages, or long-term stay discounts, it is always recommended to directly visit Thornton's RV Resort and Campground's official website or call them. Their online booking portal is the best resource for up-to-date pricing and availability, including any temporary specials.

We had a great time! It was my brother's birthday and we all celebrated big time! Our campsite (for tents) was perfect. We heard the coyotes on the second night near our site. It was very cool and a little scary but in a good way. We're all country people anyway and hoped to enjoy the nature at it's fullest. Saw an eagle up in the tree right behind my brother's and sister in laws site. I wish I had gotten a picture! Fishing across the street was good for my brother who caught 8 bass into the afternoon! Live music outside at the bar but we didn't go because we "embibed" enough already but we could hear some of the music and it was nice. No cell service for most of us but that didn't matter. Hopefully we'll be back this fall. Thank you Thornton's! Sincerely, Karl N., Debbie, George and Cindy L. Felicia and Jazz

They have a decent restroom and shower room. Otherwise things have gone way downhill in the last 5 years that we have been going there. We tent camp and the sites are primitive. We stay for at least 5 days each year. We got there and the port o potties were full of spiderwebs and tall grass in front of the doors that you had to walk thru. The water spickets were not on. They had to turn them on. I just don't feel that the place is worth going to any longer for us. We had a couple of other experiences thru our stay that made it where we won't be going back there!! Bad management!!

This was one of the best camping trips I have ever been on. To start of our trip we arrived to the campground and our site was so huge and private. Also really enjoyed not having to lug bundles of back and forth they have it already before you arrive. I really recommend going white water rafting. Our guides name was Doug and he was phenomenal. Throughout the trip he made sure we were safe, comfortable, and had the correct knowledge. In every situation he was able to act fast and get everyone to safety. The best tour guide ever!! He deserves a raise!!!!!!!!
