As a Michigan State Forest Campground managed by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Tomahawk Lake State Forest Campground operates under a standard fee structure rather than offering traditional "promotions" or special discounts often seen at private campgrounds. To camp here, visitors are required to have a Michigan Recreation Passport in addition to the nightly campsite fee. The Recreation Passport provides annual access to all Michigan state parks, recreation areas, and state forest campgrounds, making it an excellent value for those who frequently enjoy Michigan's outdoor spaces. It can be purchased when renewing your license plate or at any state park or DNR customer service center. The nightly camping fee is typically a set amount, often around $20, but it is always recommended to verify the most current rates and any specific guidelines on the Michigan DNR website or by contacting the campground directly via the provided phone number. While there aren't short-term promotions, the consistent affordability and unparalleled natural experience offered by a Michigan State Forest Campground are a continuous "special offer" for residents seeking quality outdoor recreation.

Customer Reviews
Beautiful area. We have never camped here but have hiked and driven our SXS in the area.
Big camping spots fun nice lake good out houses and a really nice place to camp. Definitely will be back
Shhh. Don't tell everybody what a gem this place is. Secluded and a bit off the beaten path, most of the campsites face the lake. It also has a beach, which not many State campgrounds can offer. Bonus! There's also a hidden swimmin' hole with a sandy bottom and tiny beach if you wanna go skinny dipping :)!
Some very nice sites on the lake. Bathrooms are very clean. Never very crowded.
Great campground on the shore of Tomahawk lake. Sites are decent sized and many are right on the lake. We bring our kayaks and paddle right from our site. I haven't tried fishing there yet, but we've seen numerous cases of fish rising in the evening. This campground is also ORV friendly with access to many many miles of ORV trails, routes and county (gravel) roads.
