For Florida locals seeking an exceptional outdoor escape, Torry Island Campground and Marina, managed by the City of Belle Glade, stands out as a unique and treasured destination. Nestled on the scenic 640-acre Torry Island—an “Island Jewel” directly on the southern shores of Lake Okeechobee—this facility offers an unparalleled experience for fishing enthusiasts, bird watchers, and those simply looking for a peaceful retreat. Lake Okeechobee, the second-largest freshwater lake in the continental United States, provides the stunning backdrop for this popular spot in western Palm Beach County.
Torry Island Campground is celebrated by residents and visitors alike for its focus on a relaxing, nature-filled getaway. As one enthusiastic camper noted, it is a "Perfect little place" for those who want "peace and quiet." The park’s commitment to providing a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment is often highlighted, alongside its unique access to unparalleled freshwater fishing. Torry Island is not just a place to park your RV or pitch a tent; it’s a gateway to enjoying the rich history, abundant wildlife, and exceptional natural beauty of the Glades region. However, locals should always be mindful of the indigenous wildlife—the community reviews serve as a friendly reminder: "Oh, and plenty of gators. Watch out for alligators!" This is true Florida nature at its finest.

May 15, 2025 · Thomas MalinoskiIt's a very small town with not much to do but get your peace and quiet. Perfect little place. And very clean. Watch out for alligators!
May 21, 2025 · tara hackettMy Family and I stayed a month this time. The park is great. Shower/restroom facilities were above average. There is no accounting for the lack of concern of some people no matter how nice you try to keep the facilities. At least, give this place a try. I promise you that most people, by far, will go way out of their way to come back here again. I went from 1 week last year, to 1 month this year, and am slated for 2 months next year. Look at the website and google earth and look at the endless outdoor activities that are available to you. I have camped all my life and I guarantee that you have never seen a place like this. Every time you turn around, they are feeding you again at no cost to you. Happy camping!
Feb 20, 2025 · Leonard AndersonTIC has been a great place to stay this month. We've enjoyed the community events, fishing, walking/bike paths, golfing and the people We've met here as well. We've had mail/package delivery, large dog park, nice laundry room and new pickleball court. It's fairly quiet here with a random airboat. Great place for the money that fills quickly so call ahead.
Feb 20, 2025 · Jill GardnerWe love this campground and will return again if we are ever in this area again. It fairly quiet in a beautiful setting with plenty of activities to enjoy. We could have done with a little less smoke from the sugar cane fields but it is what it is. Thank you so much for maintaining such a nice park.
