Introduction / Overview
For generations of Maine residents, the Midcoast region represents the ideal blend of rugged inland beauty and easy coastal access—and Town Line Camping offers a truly classic Maine experience right in the middle of it all. Nestled on 160 scenic acres that straddle the town line of Nobleboro and Jefferson, this family-run establishment has been welcoming campers since 1960. It sits right on the stunning 14-mile-long Damariscotta Lake, providing a beautiful, secluded lakeside setting that feels like a true 'slice of heaven,' as many long-time visitors describe it.
Town Line Camping is not designed to be a high-gloss, commercialized resort. Instead, it focuses on offering a quiet, peaceful, and genuinely friendly environment where families can unwind, connect with nature, and create lasting memories. The staff is consistently highlighted by customers as being super friendly and genuinely kind, working hard to ensure every guest has a pleasant stay. While it boasts a tranquil, wooded atmosphere perfect for seeing the stars, it also provides essential amenities and recreational facilities, including a nice little beach area and plenty of space for children to play. It proudly maintains a tradition of community and a relaxed, non-commercial atmosphere, making it a beloved spot for those who seek the quintessential Maine camping tradition. It offers a variety of site types to suit different needs, including RV, tent sites, and even classic rental cottages and camps.
Location and Accessibility
Town Line Camping is strategically located at 225 Townline Rd, Nobleboro, ME 04555, USA. Its position makes it an excellent basecamp for exploring the Midcoast region, a favorite area for Maine locals. While it is tucked away—about a mile off East Pond Road—to ensure a peaceful environment, this seclusion contributes to its charm, offering a genuine 'getaway' feel.
The location on Damariscotta Lake provides immediate access to premier inland recreation, including fishing, swimming, and boating on one of Maine's most beautiful and substantial lakes. Importantly for Maine residents, Town Line Camping is also centrally located near a host of popular coastal towns and historical sites. A short drive connects campers to iconic destinations like Damariscotta, Boothbay Harbor, Pemaquid Point (home of the famous lighthouse), Rockland, and Camden. This accessibility allows visitors to spend one day hiking or fishing on the lake and the next day exploring coastal lighthouses and sampling fresh Maine seafood, making it the perfect two-in-one vacation spot. Users should note that the final mile of road coming in is often described as narrow (basically one lane), which contributes to the 'out of the way' seclusion and peaceful atmosphere but requires careful navigation, particularly for very large rigs.
Services Offered
The campground offers a comprehensive range of services designed to ensure comfort and convenience, preserving the traditional feel of camping while providing necessary modern amenities.
Features / Highlights
The enduring popularity of Town Line Camping among Maine campers is due to its focus on key recreational and community-focused amenities that truly capture the spirit of an outdoor New England retreat.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
Town Line Camping is perfectly tailored for Maine residents looking for an authentic and accessible getaway in the heart of the Midcoast. For Mainers, the campground offers the cherished combination of freshwater lake recreation and proximity to the famous rocky coastline, eliminating the need to choose between the two. You can easily spend the morning fishing for bass or trout on Damariscotta Lake and the afternoon driving out to Pemaquid Point or the shops of Damariscotta.
Crucially, the long-standing, family-run tradition since 1960 fosters a unique, friendly, and non-commercial community atmosphere that many local campers prefer over large corporate resorts. While some guests with very large RVs (e.g., 42-foot models) may find the interior roads challenging and the electric service limited to 30-amp in most sites, the park excels for standard RVs, pop-ups, and tent campers seeking a more rustic, classic experience. It is a peaceful, great place to see the stars, and offers a clean, well-maintained environment where kids have plenty of room to play. By choosing Town Line Camping, local Mainers are not just booking a site; they are investing in a decades-old tradition of genuine Pine Tree State hospitality, making it a deeply suitable and highly recommended Midcoast escape.

Nice little camp ground little out of the way. Most have electric and water hook ups. Great place to see stars. Unfortunately most of the southern camp grounds don’t let your dog in the beach area. But over all a decent place to camp for a few nights
Aug 04, 2025 · Justin NealFirst. Great staff. Super friendly and very nice to work with. The campground is not ideal for big rigs like ours (42'). We had electrical issues at our spot and couldn't run anything without tripping breakers. They tried to repair but we were forced to find other accommodations. They helped us do so. They have a little slice of heaven area. Nice little beach, plenty of space for the kids to play, and a clean area. Would recommend if your not a big rig, Road coming in is over a mile basically one lane.
