Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
Duck Puddle Campgrounds is exceptionally suitable for Maine locals, particularly those in the Midcoast and Southern Maine regions, for several compelling reasons. Firstly, its location in Nobleboro offers the perfect "lakeside escape" without having to drive deep into the state's remote interior. It is centrally located to the classic Maine experience: close enough to Coastal Route 1 and the popular harbor towns like Boothbay and Damariscotta for easy day trips, but far enough down a quiet road to feel truly private and restful.
Secondly, the campground is ideal for Maine families who value a combination of natural fun and convenient services. The owners have created a space that appeals to both the rugged camper—with wooded, shaded sites—and the modern vacationer, offering full RV hookups and spacious cabins. The consistent organization of family-friendly events and the presence of a huge community fire pit create a warm, inclusive environment. For local residents contemplating a more permanent vacation option, the fact that Duck Puddle is family-owned, friendly, and well-maintained makes obtaining a seasonal spot a highly attractive proposition. It’s a place to establish a family tradition, offering the "best they've ever seen" in a beautiful, natural Maine setting.

Family owned. Such a private feeling when you get to the campground. Most of the sites are in the woods and are nice and shaded. I think the full hookup sites are more out in the field but the area is so pretty. You’re right on the water and they have a small boat dock, small beach, and kayak rentals. Some of the sites are tricky to get in, but you can make it work. If not, they’ll find a spot that works for you. Very friendly staff. Playground, huge community fire pit, camp store, dump station, events on the weekends. Our site had the water on the wrong side but they said they’re working on fixing that. It worked out regardless. I’m surprised there wasn’t another dumpster in the area. It’s kind of a trek, but makes for a nice walk. Very laid-back campground. If we lived closer I would consider getting a seasonal spot here. I got Nelson Ledges Quarry vibes ♥️
Jun 25, 2025 · Katie RobbWe have mostly raised our family (5 children) & camped both tent, trailer & RV considerable Amount all over the west and east coast. This is such a magical place for upscale amenities meets rustic and old fashioned fun- I would HAPPILY pay the $70/night cost to enjoy the beauty, peace, whimsy of this incredible campground! Massive bonfires, beautiful & well kept facility, on site mercantile/convenience store, a plethora of activities both on & off water for the whole family! Best I’ve seen ever. For the birders out there- I heard 18 different birds in 30 min, before starting my bird app I also heard/saw Canadian geese and seagull.
Jun 06, 2025 · SarahWe are currently on a tent site that is so sloped that we cannot fit our tent on it and we are sleeping in the back of our Subaru Outback for the entirety of our stay. The sites are too close together and the restrooms are too far apart which is difficult to accommodate my upcoming hip replacement surgery when we return home. IMHO, the decorations and planned activities give the whole experience a rather cheap feel.
Aug 16, 2025 · Diana Nothe TaylorWe rented a bunkhouse for the weekend. Pricing was decent, however, the bunkhouse was quite disgusting. I understand it's a campground and bugs are a given, but the amount of webs and dead bugs was extremely unpleasant. The doormat was matted with hair and fur. The beds were filled with dirt, food from the previous visitors and we found mouse droppings on 2 of the bunks. The rickety door came with a screen that was torn to the point that the hook lock inside made no sense because anyone could have gotten in by reaching their hand through the screen to unlock it. The ladies at the shop were very sweet. Despite the overwhelming amount of people and crowding, the overall vibe of this place is lovely, but I'm not sure I would return given the price of the bunkhouse in comparison to the cleanliness of it.
Jul 14, 2025 · Autumn LynnMy husband and I stayed at site 68. I do not recommend this site because on the edge of the site are three portapotties. Our fire pit was facing it and the picnic table. We could only park the camper one way so we couldn’t avoid the constant smell of it. It was overwhelming. To make things worse poison ivy surround the site!! I think this campground is cute and very kid friendly but I will never stay at that site again. Usually I would spend time in my hammock but that just wasn’t possible. Please inform guests of where the portapotties are and where there is poison ivy.
