Travel Resorts of America About
North Carolina is a state that truly embodies the spirit of outdoor adventure, offering a remarkable diversity of landscapes from the majestic Appalachian Mountains to the serene coastlines. For many of us who call this beautiful state home, camping provides an ideal way to connect with nature, create lasting family memories, and enjoy the great outdoors. When considering camping options, you might encounter various models, from public campgrounds to private resorts. Travel Resorts of America represents a specific type of offering: a membership-based network of RV resorts and campgrounds designed for dedicated campers and RV enthusiasts.
Travel Resorts of America, headquartered with an address in Southern Pines, NC, operates a collection of RV resorts across the East Coast and Midwest. Unlike traditional public campgrounds where you pay per night, Travel Resorts of America operates on a membership model. This means that access to their network of resorts and their extensive amenities typically comes with a one-time membership fee and ongoing annual maintenance fees. This model is designed for individuals and families who plan to camp frequently and desire a consistent, amenity-rich experience across various locations. They aim to provide a more luxurious and amenity-rich experience compared to standard campgrounds.
While the Southern Pines address serves as a corporate presence, it's important for North Carolinians to understand that their primary local resort is Sycamore Lodge Resort, located in nearby Jackson Springs, NC. This article will delve into the general concept of Travel Resorts of America, drawing information from their public statements and customer feedback. We'll explore their overall offerings, the benefits they promote, and provide key considerations for North Carolina residents interested in this type of camping experience.
Travel Resorts of America's corporate presence relevant to North Carolina is located at 1930 N Poplar St, Southern Pines, NC 28387, USA. Southern Pines is a picturesque town in Moore County, a region renowned for its equestrian heritage, world-class golf courses, and beautiful Sandhills landscape. This location is strategically placed in a desirable area of North Carolina, offering a blend of small-town charm and access to sophisticated amenities.
While the Southern Pines address is administrative, the primary North Carolina resort in the Travel Resorts of America network is Sycamore Lodge Resort, located in Jackson Springs, NC. Sycamore Lodge is situated amidst 194 shaded acres of mature Carolina pines and other native trees, featuring manicured grounds and a bass-stocked lake. This puts members within minutes of historic Pinehurst and some of the country's best golf courses, offering diverse recreational opportunities beyond camping itself.
The region's accessibility is a significant advantage. Southern Pines and Jackson Springs are well-connected by major roadways, making them easily reachable from various parts of North Carolina. Raleigh, the state capital, is roughly 70 miles north, and Charlotte is about 90 miles west, indicating that these resorts are within a feasible driving distance for many residents of the Triangle and Metrolina areas. Fayetteville, a major city and home to Fort Liberty (formerly Fort Bragg), is also relatively close, enhancing convenience for military families or those seeking additional urban services. The convenient location allows members to enjoy frequent getaways without extensive travel time, making it suitable for weekend trips or longer vacations within the state.

Travel Resorts of America emphasizes a premium camping experience with a strong focus on family and community. Their membership model aims to provide consistent quality and a wide range of amenities.

Travel Resorts of America frequently offers promotional packages to introduce potential members to their resorts and the membership concept. These typically involve discounted stays coupled with a required informational tour or presentation.
For example, promotions may include deeply discounted overnight stays at one of their resorts (such as Sycamore Lodge in NC), sometimes with added incentives like gift cards or electronics. These offers usually come with specific eligibility criteria, such as age and income requirements, and necessitate attendance at an approximately 90-minute tour detailing the benefits of a private campground membership. It is crucial to review the "Details of Participation" for any specific offer, as they outline terms regarding eligibility, tour completion, and potential taxes or incidentals.
Given the nature of their membership model, direct pricing for daily stays without a membership is not typically advertised. Instead, the "value" is presented as access to their network through membership purchase. Interested North Carolinians should contact Travel Resorts of America directly to inquire about current promotional offers and understand the full scope of their membership options.

For many North Carolinians who are passionate about camping and outdoor recreation, Travel Resorts of America presents a unique and potentially suitable option, particularly for those seeking a consistent and amenity-rich experience across multiple locations. While it operates on a membership model, understanding its structure can help locals determine if it aligns with their vacation preferences.
The primary appeal for North Carolina residents lies in the access to Sycamore Lodge Resort in Jackson Springs, a conveniently located resort in our state's beautiful Sandhills region. This means frequent, relatively short drives to a well-equipped camping destination for many within the Triangle, Fayetteville, and surrounding areas. For families who enjoy regular weekend getaways or longer trips throughout the year, a membership could offer a sense of predictability and ease, knowing that a host of amenities and activities await them without having to research individual campground offerings each time.
The extensive list of services and features, including full RV hookups, cabin rentals, swimming pools, planned activities, and often Wi-Fi, caters to a desire for comfortable and engaging camping. This "resort" style of camping appeals to those who enjoy more than just a basic campsite – they seek a vacation experience with recreational facilities and organized entertainment. For North Carolina families, this could translate into less planning stress and more quality time enjoying their leisure, with dedicated spaces for kids to play and adults to relax.
However, it's crucial for locals to approach this with a clear understanding of the membership commitment. The model is best suited for individuals or families who genuinely plan to utilize the resorts frequently and who value the consistency and range of amenities provided. It's about investing in a long-term camping lifestyle rather than a one-off trip. For those who fit this profile and appreciate the comfort and convenience of resort-style camping, Travel Resorts of America's presence in North Carolina and its broader network could indeed be a suitable pathway to countless memorable outdoor adventures. As with any significant membership, thorough research and direct communication are key to ensuring it aligns perfectly with your family's camping needs and financial considerations.
Customer Reviews
this place is a scam. my parents bought a membership back in 2011 it is well payed off. my dad was diagnosed with cancer in 2023 so we went to minimize our bills and i was going through his accounts and found this payment, we reached out to cancel and they said someone would reach out to cancel and never heard from them. two years later my parents are STILL paying this monthly payment. we haven’t been in 10 years. we got on the phone today with travel resorts and they told us it’s a 30 year contract that they signed. my parents asked for a signed copy with their signatures to be sent to them and they refused to send it to them. they instead said that they can pay it off early and pay $3999. all in all this place is sketchy and lies to people because they aren’t making any money and have to scam people into making money. wouldn’t recommend going here.
I have been a member with TRA for about 9 years and would not recommend anyone to join. I consistently have 25-30 minute waits with billing just to pay the fees and most of the time I hang up before I speak to anyone or I get hung up on. They call to schedule in person meetings on site but will not go into details about what the meeting is about. I have asked multiple times to get assistance with getting my online account working but never get any assistance, even after being told I would receive an email to help. Dealing with TRA is a waste of time.
I just did my 90 day ahead reservation for Bass Lake and I had a great experience with the website that allowed me to do it all through a chat person named Karen. She did an excellent job of walking me through everything and it was so simple. Much better than some of the grumpy voice people that you get When you are stressed out, trying to make reservations. Great technology love it thank you so much
Terrible company, completely predatory. I would not recommend this to my worst enemy. My fiance and her ex signed up for it(no idea why anyone would even after reading the benefits) after 7/8 years of her paying on it there was still a large balance on the loan and it cost us $3999 to opt out. Not happy. You pay maintenance fees, a loan on I don’t even know what, no deed like a timeshare, non transferrable. Heed my warning and do not waste your money at all. There is a special place for people like this, absolutely disgusting.
I have been a member now for almost 9 years and just love Rocky Fork Ranch the most and second would be Walleyworld. I just had to use the new chat option online because the updated website is still under renovation as it will not let you choose your exact site. So I chatted with agent Karen who was wonderful. She was kind and helped me find the exact dates for the site I love. I am so excited to return to rocky fork for my opening of camper and first trip of season 2025.
