Promotions or Special Offers
Campgrounds, particularly those within state park systems, typically operate under state park fee structures rather than offering frequent, dynamic promotions like private businesses. However, there are still ways that campers can find value or specific offers:
-
Kansas State Park Pass: For frequent visitors to Kansas State Parks, purchasing an annual park vehicle permit or a KDWP (Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks) Passport can provide cost savings on park entry fees.
-
Senior and Disability Discounts: Kansas State Parks often offer discounted rates for seniors (e.g., 65 and older) or individuals with disabilities on camping fees.
-
Off-Season Rates: During less popular camping seasons (e.g., late fall, winter, early spring), some state park campgrounds might have reduced rates or offer more availability.
-
Group Rates: For large groups or organized events, there might be specific group camping areas or discounted rates available, though this would require direct inquiry.
Given that Walnut Campground is part of Clinton State Park, the most accurate information on pricing, reservations, and any potential discounts would be found on the official Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) website or by contacting the park office directly. Reservations are highly recommended due to the campground's popularity, especially for weekends and peak seasons.

Customer Reviews
Was a nice campground. I kind of wish we were not just passing through for the night, as there is a beach near by, little golf course if I golfed.. There was plenty of shade, so that was nice. Campground was a little rowdy, but we chose a spot right next to the water and if we were there to be a little rowdy it would have been perfect. Campground did get immediately quiet at 10. Most people were respectful of the rules. Reserve early because as we pulled in to set up almost every spot was reserved. We stayed in campsite 246. I was able to find as spot that was level for the tent, not too far from the restrooms, backed up to the water. Overall a nice Campground and a pretty good place to stop half way between Denver and Lexington
Been camping here for over 30 years. Love the campground, the staff does a great job. Bathrooms and campsites are super clean.
Beautiful view, but our spot was really hard to get level.
It was really good considering why I was there for thank you fish and game it has everything you need to enjoy being outdoors and away from home
Took wife camping, though we usually reserve a spot in Hickory, it was full this time, So we tried Walnut for the first time. Was not a bad little area, very well shaded, there were facilities available, very clean, and well maintained. A little further from the swim beach than we wanted, but still not far, just had to drive rather than walk. Nice weekend overall.
