This campground is a childhood favorite and has continued improving over many years. I do wish they had more site sewage but not a big deal. The staff is great and even brought our passes to us at our site…caught a Blue Gill off the dock with a nice fat worm! Since then another Blue Gill and a Small Mouth Bass have been shared with me by the Lake. I returned all of them to the Lake. Fifty years of memories at this jewel of Topeka, Kansas. Learned to water ski here, did Winter camping even in a foot of snow, and many other great times!

We broke down on the side of I-70 and were very thankful that Lake Shawnee Campground had an opening for our RV to be towed to while our truck was repaired. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice park, nice campground.

Campground is located on Lake Shawnee in a beautiful park with plenty of activities. Bathhouses are ok, deficient on privacy for showers. The sites in the old section are parking-lot style on gravel with electric (50 amp, bring your adapter if you use 30 amp service.) There are some trees. In the newer sections, the pads are concrete & have full hookups, but seem less level, have no trees except between the sites & the lake, and the sewage connection is about 8 inches above ground level. Checkin was easy and efficient with a thorough briefing.

You have 37 RV spots available for rent with only three tent sites on the whole property and none available. Last year I tried multiple weekends to get a camp spot for my grandkids to learn how to camp however it's impossible because you only have three campsites and they're always full. I just think the old setup was a lot better and you need to add way more campsites than what you have. I understand the RVs bring in more money but when you have 37 open spots do they really bring in more money?

Beautiful campground with tons of amenities. We had a spot just up from the lake area. It was quiet, and the sites were spacious. The showers and toilets are clean and well maintained. We had a fire pit and a picnic table. The location is close to the highway, but you wouldn't know it. Excellent place!
