Features / Highlights

Walnut Lake Campgrounds in Washington Court House, OH, offers several features that might be considered highlights for certain types of campers, though it's important to consider them in light of the provided customer reviews.

  • Location in Central Ohio: For locals, its position in Central Ohio provides a convenient escape from more urban environments. It offers a rural setting, which can be a highlight for those seeking peace and quiet away from city noise.

  • Access to State Route 41: The direct frontage on State Route 41 makes the campground easily accessible by vehicle, especially for those pulling RVs or trailers. This straightforward access simplifies travel to and from the site.

  • Potential for Long-Term Stays: The reviews indicate that the campground accommodates long-term residents, possibly for work-related purposes. This is a significant feature for individuals or families in Ohio who need an extended stay solution for their RV or a temporary base.

  • Affordability (Contrasting Views): One review states, "The tent is sky high for the conditions of this place!!", while another notes income, implying a significant number of campers. The implication that it generates substantial income suggests that it serves a consistent clientele, which might be due to its relative affordability compared to other options for long-term stays, despite the reviewer's personal assessment of value.

  • Rural Setting: The location itself suggests a more rustic and natural environment, which can be appealing to campers who prefer less developed surroundings and a direct connection to Ohio's countryside.

It is crucial for any prospective camper to thoroughly consider the significant negative feedback provided in the reviews regarding road conditions ("pot holes big enough to lose a small car in"), unemptied black water tanks, perceived high prices for conditions, lack of maintenance, unprofessionalism, and general neglect. These are critical factors that directly impact the camping experience and should be investigated thoroughly before booking a stay.

Promotions or Special Offers

Specific current promotions or special offers directly from Walnut Lake Campgrounds at 9800 State Rte 41, Washington Court House, OH, are not publicly advertised in the provided information. Campground pricing typically varies based on site type, length of stay, and seasonality.

However, based on common practices within the campground industry, particularly for those accommodating longer-term stays, potential promotions or offers might include:

  • Extended Stay Discounts: Campgrounds often provide reduced rates for longer stays (weekly, monthly, or seasonal rates) compared to daily rates. This would be particularly relevant for those mentioned in reviews who stay for work or extended periods.

  • Seasonal Specials: During off-peak seasons, or at specific times of the year, campgrounds might introduce limited-time promotions to attract more visitors.

The reviews provided include strong criticisms regarding the "sky high" cost for the reported conditions, and the substantial monthly income the campground reportedly generates. This implies that while the campground may not publicly advertise "promotions," its pricing structure and value proposition are subjects of strong opinion among past customers.

Prospective campers are strongly advised to contact Walnut Lake Campgrounds directly using the provided phone numbers. This direct communication is essential to obtain the most accurate and up-to-date information on current pricing, specific lot fees, any included services (like utility hookups), and to inquire about any available discounts for short-term or long-term stays. It would also be an opportunity to ask direct questions about the condition of the facilities and roads, given the significant feedback in the reviews.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

Walnut Lake Campgrounds in Washington Court House, OH, presents a specific type of camping and long-term stay option for local Ohio residents, particularly those seeking a rural setting in Central Ohio. While the provided customer reviews highlight significant concerns regarding maintenance and management, it's important to consider the potential suitability for particular needs.

For Ohioans who prioritize a budget-conscious option for extended RV stays, especially for work-related purposes or temporary relocation, Walnut Lake Campgrounds might present itself as a possibility. The indication that the campground accommodates long-term residents suggests it serves a specific niche for those who require more than just a transient overnight spot. Its location directly on State Route 41 also offers straightforward accessibility for travel to and from the site, which can be a practical advantage for those with large RVs or specific commuting needs in Central Ohio.

Furthermore, for those who truly seek a rustic and undeveloped camping experience, away from the amenities and crowds of larger, more manicured parks, Walnut Lake Campgrounds might offer a more "back to basics" approach. The rural setting in Fayette County provides a quiet backdrop, appealing to individuals who value solitude and the natural environment of Ohio's countryside.

However, it is paramount that any local Ohioan considering Walnut Lake Campgrounds undertakes extensive due diligence. The consistent and strong negative feedback from multiple customer reviews regarding road conditions, maintenance of essential services (like black water tanks), perceived value for money, and management responsiveness cannot be overstated. For the campground to be truly "suitable," prospective campers must be prepared to verify the current state of these issues directly with management and assess if the current conditions meet their personal standards for safety, comfort, and quality of life. Without such verification and a clear understanding of what to expect, the suitability for a broad range of local users remains questionable. For those who are willing to accept potentially basic or challenging conditions for the sake of location or specific long-term needs, it might align. For others, exploring alternatives with more consistently positive feedback on maintenance and management would be advisable.

Walnut lake campground LLC brings in over $35,000 a month from her campers and can't even upkeep the campground and her equipment. Neglecting her campers as well as depriving them of quality of life. Very unprofessional and rude. Way to go Stacy Everhart.

The campground is ok but I have never stayed or visited a campground that the so-called host (curly, red head) that approached me and was rude that i was driving over 5mph which i wasn't. I was out of town and had no idea who she was and why she needed to ask questions. I also figured that it was because my friend and I (girls) were visiting my cousin (guy) that was staying there for work and paying rent but thought we were trouble and had to know where we were going. After that experience, my cousin is going to stay somewhere else.

Our company had several crew members stay here for several months while building Transmission Powerlines for Honda Battery Plant. Stacey made our experience a great one. I definitely didn't mind calling this place home when I was away from home. Loved the outdoorsy feel and really enjoyed the lake view while relaxing on my days off. Way, way better than staying at a hotel. Definitely got lucky finding this campground!

Where do I start? 99% full timers/partiers; The hose bib leaked like a sieve; the sewer connection was approximately 12 feet away; the noise from the locals having their party went on well past midnight; the 4 wheelers drove by super close (and noisy); 113 voltage on electric. $45 per night, cash only with no receipt for 30 amp (no 50). You'd be better off staying at the Flying J about a quarter mile away. We stayed here in a motorhome. ( Zero sleep )
