For many Michigan residents, exploring mobile home parks like West Point Hills in Mattawan can be a practical step towards affordable and community-focused living. The decision to choose a manufactured home community involves weighing various factors, from the specific amenities offered to the overall atmosphere and the responsiveness of management. This article aims to provide a clear, factual, and engaging overview of West Point Hills, drawing directly from available public feedback to offer a realistic perspective. For those of us in Michigan considering this option, understanding the experiences of current and past residents is crucial for making an informed decision about where to call home.

Mobile home parks often appeal to individuals and families seeking a more budget-friendly path to homeownership or rental, coupled with the potential for a close-knit neighborhood feel. They typically provide a plot of land for your manufactured home, along with access to essential utilities and common area maintenance. However, as with any community, experiences can vary significantly. While West Point Hills positions itself as an attractive option with various features, it's important to acknowledge and address all types of feedback, including concerns raised by some residents, to ensure a comprehensive understanding for Michigan locals. This balanced approach will empower you to assess if West Point Hills aligns with your personal living preferences and expectations.

Location and Accessibility

West Point Hills is conveniently located at 53914 25th St, Mattawan, MI 49071, USA. This address places the mobile home park in the charming village of Mattawan, Michigan, offering residents a unique blend of small-town tranquility and accessibility to larger urban centers. Mattawan itself provides a welcoming community atmosphere with local shops, restaurants, and schools, and the park is noted for its proximity to the Mattawan Consolidated School District, which can be a significant draw for families.

The strategic location of West Point Hills, just a short distance from I-94 (exit 66), provides immediate access to major transportation routes. This makes commuting to the greater Kalamazoo area, which is only about 10 miles to the west, incredibly convenient. Kalamazoo offers a wealth of dining, shopping, entertainment, and employment opportunities, including Western Michigan University and Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Furthermore, for those who enjoy Michigan's natural beauty, the park is situated about 35 miles east of the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan. This excellent accessibility, combined with the peaceful country setting in Mattawan, positions West Point Hills as a practical and appealing choice for Michigan residents looking for a balanced lifestyle that combines suburban serenity with urban conveniences.

  • Off-Street Parking: Off-street parking is provided, contributing to convenience and safety within the community.
  • Communication Challenges with Management: A significant concern raised by multiple reviewers is the "horrible" communication from the office staff. Issues include difficulty getting timely updates on applications, rude interactions, and a perceived lack of responsiveness (e.g., "they will just play around and not give you the whole truth," "hardly stay in contact," "still no call or update on that application!"). This indicates a potential challenge for residents needing assistance or information.
  • Compost/Leaf Dump Access Issues: One review specifically highlights problems with the compost/leaf dump not being open as advertised, making lot cleanup difficult despite maintenance requirements.

Based on the publicly available information, West Point Hills does advertise "Specials" on its website, indicating that promotions or special offers may be available for prospective residents. And when they did answer the phone they were very rude and they would say we’ll call you when your application is processed. Well here we are 3 weeks later and still no call or update on that application! West Point hills is horrible there’s plenty of trailer parks out there and they’re a lot better than this!! I’m now in woodland estates very nice trailers! They’re nice people and they will get your approval done in one day and moved in!! DON’T GO TO WESTPOINT HILLS they are only in it for the money!!!

The lady that runs it is rude, and she tells you one thing and does another. I lived there for a year. It was the yr I lost my mom. They don't do a new lease every yr,so they can't kick you out any time after your least expires. Had a friend live there for 4 yrs. She only did a lease when she moved in,then never signed anything until she moved out. Drive through it,it's nice, but live there,it's hell.

Amy is a joke! Told my 16 yr old son and 12yr daughter that they were going to be homeless because my son was driving out back by the pond. He didn’t know he wasn’t allowed to and the maintenance guy blocked my kids in until the my sons dad showed up and realized who he was!! My 12 yr was hyperventilating crying so hard so was my son! Needless to say I left that place. And she definitely was sleeping with the maintenance man!
