Whispering Wind RV Park About
For Missouri RV enthusiasts seeking a place to settle in for an extended stay or a quiet retreat, Whispering Wind RV Park in Winfield offers a unique option. This RV park caters to those looking for a long-term home base, promising a generally peaceful environment and beautiful natural views. While individual experiences can vary, the park aims to provide a functional space for RVers to call home while exploring the eastern Missouri landscape.
Public reviews for Whispering Wind RV Park present a mixed perspective, which is valuable for prospective residents to consider. Some residents praise the "clean and generally quiet" atmosphere and the "great" and "very responsive and friendly" owner, Dave, highlighting a positive management experience. The park is also noted as "Pet friendly too!", which is a significant plus for those traveling with their furry companions. However, other feedback points to challenges such as mud and flooding after rain, a malodorous retention pond during warmer months, and its remote location. This contrasting feedback underscores the importance of direct communication with the park to clarify current conditions and amenities.
Understanding these diverse experiences allows Missouri RVers to make an informed decision that best suits their needs. Whether you prioritize responsive management and a pet-friendly environment, or are concerned about environmental factors and proximity to amenities, Whispering Wind RV Park offers specific characteristics to evaluate. This overview will delve deeper into the park's location, reported services, and highlights, helping you determine if it's the right fit for your next long-term RV stay in Missouri.
Whispering Wind RV Park is located at 71 Whispering Wind Dr, Winfield, MO 63389, USA. Winfield is a small city situated in Lincoln County, Missouri, positioned along the Mississippi River. This location places the RV park in a more rural and scenic part of eastern Missouri, offering a quiet escape from urban hustle.
The accessibility of Whispering Wind RV Park is a point of consideration. While it promises beautiful sunrises and sunsets, one review notes it's "30 minutes from anything besides a few gas stations, a small overpriced grocery store and dollar general." This suggests that immediate access to extensive shopping, dining, and major services is limited. Residents should plan to travel a bit further for larger grocery stores, specialized retail, healthcare facilities, and a broader range of restaurants.
Despite its rural setting, Winfield itself offers basic conveniences. For everyday essentials, the presence of gas stations and a Dollar General within a closer range provides some immediate options. The general area provides a slower pace of life, appealing to those who prefer a tranquil environment over urban proximity.
For travel, Winfield is accessible via State Route 79, which runs along the Mississippi River. This scenic route connects to other communities in Lincoln and St. Charles counties. While further from major interstates like I-70 or I-64, State Route 79 provides a direct path, albeit a longer one, to larger metropolitan areas like St. Louis for more extensive needs or attractions. RVers should factor in the travel time required for amenities when considering a stay at Whispering Wind RV Park. The secluded nature contributes to the "generally quiet" atmosphere appreciated by some residents.
Whispering Wind RV Park aims to provide the fundamental services necessary for a comfortable long-term RV stay. While reviews offer a glimpse into the living experience, standard RV park services are typically expected.
-
RV Site Hookups: As an RV park, it is expected to offer sites with necessary hookups for RVs. This typically includes electric (likely 30 and/or 50 amp), water, and sewer connections at each site, ensuring residents have access to essential utilities for their rigs.
-
Long-Term Stays: The park appears to cater significantly to long-term residents, with one reviewer stating they have "been staying here for the past several months." This indicates a service model that accommodates extended stays, appealing to those needing a semi-permanent base.
-
Management Responsiveness: A key service highlighted by a positive review is the responsiveness and friendliness of the owner, Dave, who is described as "great (and Is quite the character) and always very responsive and friendly." This suggests proactive management in addressing resident inquiries and needs.
-
Pet-Friendly Environment: The park explicitly states it is "Pet friendly too!" This service allows residents to bring their pets, providing designated areas or policies to accommodate them, a crucial amenity for many RVers.
-
General Maintenance: The park is described as "clean" by one reviewer, suggesting that general maintenance of sites and common areas (if applicable) is part of the services provided, aiming for a tidy environment.
However, it's also important to acknowledge points raised in other reviews that may pertain to services or site conditions:
-
Drainage Concerns: Issues with the park being "horribly muddy and floods every time it rains" point to potential challenges with drainage infrastructure or site grading, impacting the usability of sites after rainfall.
-
Environmental Factors: The "retention pond right at the front of the park" that "reeks" unless it's below freezing indicates a potential issue with water quality or aeration, which could affect the overall living experience.
For the most comprehensive and up-to-date information on site specifics, utility inclusions, and any other services, it is highly recommended to contact Whispering Wind RV Park directly. This will allow prospective residents to clarify all aspects relevant to their long-term stay.
Whispering Wind RV Park offers several features and highlights that shape the living experience for its residents, providing both appealing aspects and considerations based on public feedback.
-
Scenic Views: One of the most consistently praised features is the presence of "beautiful sunrises and sunsets." For nature lovers and those who appreciate picturesque natural surroundings, this provides a daily aesthetic benefit and a sense of tranquility.
-
Responsive and Friendly Owner: The owner, Dave, is highlighted as "great" and "very responsive and friendly." Active and approachable management is a significant asset in any residential park, ensuring that concerns are addressed and fostering a positive relationship between residents and park administration.
-
Generally Quiet Atmosphere: Despite some specific concerns, the park is described as "generally quiet." This is a key feature for long-term residents seeking a peaceful living environment away from the noise of more bustling areas. It contributes to a relaxed and comfortable daily life.
-
Pet-Friendly: The explicit mention of being "Pet friendly too!" is a major highlight for RVers traveling with their animals. This caters to a large segment of the RV community, making the park an attractive option for those who consider their pets part of the family.
-
Accommodates Long-Term Stays: The park's suitability for residents staying "for the past several months" indicates that it is designed to accommodate and welcome long-term occupancy. This is a crucial feature for individuals or families needing an extended base in Missouri.
However, it is also important to acknowledge potential challenges highlighted as features in some reviews:
-
Drainage and Mud Issues: The description of the park as "horribly muddy and floods every time it rains" points to a significant environmental factor that could impact the comfort and accessibility of sites, particularly during wet seasons.
-
Retention Pond Odor: The "retention pond right at the front of the park and unless it's below freezing it reeks" is a notable issue that could affect air quality and overall enjoyment of the immediate surroundings.
-
Rural Isolation: Being "30 minutes from anything besides a few gas stations, a small overpriced grocery store and dollar general" indicates a more remote location, which might be a highlight for some seeking seclusion but a drawback for others desiring immediate access to amenities.
Prospective residents should weigh these diverse features against their own priorities to determine if Whispering Wind RV Park aligns with their ideal living situation.
Based on the provided public reviews, Whispering Wind RV Park does not explicitly advertise specific "promotions" or "special offers" in the traditional sense (e.g., move-in discounts, seasonal deals). The feedback primarily pertains to the general living experience and ongoing operational aspects of the park.
However, as an RV park that caters to long-term residents, its "offers" would typically be structured around its monthly or extended stay rates, which are inherently more cost-effective than daily or weekly transient rates.
-
Long-Term Stay Rates: The park's suitability for residents staying "for the past several months" suggests that competitive monthly or extended-stay rates are likely available. These rates are a common "promotion" in long-term RV parks, providing a more affordable housing solution than short-term rentals or other housing types.
-
Inclusion of Utilities: While not explicitly stated, long-term RV park rates often include some or all utilities (electric, water, sewer) in the monthly fee. This bundling can be a significant financial benefit and form of "offer" for residents, as it simplifies budgeting and avoids separate utility bills. Prospective residents should confirm which utilities are included.
-
Pet-Friendly Policy: The "Pet friendly too!" policy can be considered a valuable "offer" for RVers with pets, as not all parks accommodate animals or may charge additional fees. This inclusivity adds significant value for many long-term residents.
It is crucial for anyone interested in Whispering Wind RV Park to contact them directly to inquire about their current pricing structure for long-term stays, what is included in the monthly rent, and any specific policies regarding utilities or other fees. This direct communication will provide the most accurate and up-to-date information on their financial offerings.

The park accommodates residents for "several months," indicating a focus on extended stays rather than transient overnight parking. This is ideal for locals who might be working in the area, or simply prefer the flexibility and lower cost of RV living over traditional housing for a significant period. It offers a semi-permanent solution within the state.

For Missourians who value responsive management, a pet-friendly policy, long-term living, and are prepared for a more rural setting, Whispering Wind RV Park can be a viable and comfortable choice for their RV lifestyle. Direct communication with the park to clarify current conditions is highly recommended to ensure it meets individual expectations.
Customer Reviews
It has beautiful sunrises and sunsets but that's about the only good thing I can say about this place. It's horribly muddy and floods every time it rains, there's a retention pond right at the front of the park and unless it's below freezing it reeks. It's 30 minutes from anything besides a few gas stations, a small overpriced grocery store and dollar general. His father rides around on a zero turn mower or golf cart constantly drinking and they claim he's "security"
I have been staying here for the past several months and have nothing but good things to say about my experience so far. . The owner, Dave, is great (and Is quite the character) and always very responsive and friendly. The park itself is clean and generally quiet - no complaints! Pet friendly too !
Dave is an awesome person. Very friendly and extremely tentative to any needs we had. Very peaceful place to stay long term or even just visiting for a couple months!
Moved in a year ago and Dave has been extremely kind and helpful during our time there, he's very responsive and definitely runs a very well kept area. Great people!
Great and convenient RV site. Owners are amazing and accommodating. Stayed 5 months and this is the most affordable place in this area. Sites very easy to back into. Electric and water included. Year round. Will be back.
