Customer Reviews
We have been driving or pulling some sort of camping set up for over 25 years. We've stayed in private, state and federal campgrounds all over the country and in most states.. Recently, we had the pleasure of staying at Dunewood Campground. This campground was peaceful and never felt crowded, even though a walk around showed it was nearly full. The bathrooms were clean, had hot water, and even a filtered water dispenser. The location is excellent. It's just a short drive to the national park, restaurants, a liquor store, and a gas station. Our campsite had plenty of space and offered good privacy—our neighbors weren’t right on top of us. While we occasionally heard a distant train horn, the sounds of nature usually masked it. One of the highlights of our stay was being visited by several wild turkeys at our site. All in all, it was a very enjoyable stay, and we’d definitely come back.
Camp ground is very peaceful and not crowded in April. Bathroom and shower are very clean. Camp hosts Jeff and Tom are very friendly! Recommend and will definitely return.
This campground has potential. The area provides a great deal of shade and each campsite appears clean, well-managed. Our experience was affected by several families camping in the sites around us, playing loud music and whole groups of 10-20 people congregating in the road and at the end of our drive. Sleep was not possible until after midnight due to the noise level. I suppose this is a good campground for very young people who like to party late, but if you are looking for a peaceful getaway, this is not it. Also, multiple people congregating in the bathrooms at all hours and the bathrooms were very messy, not well cleaned. I would not return.
Our 2nd trip in a few years, was happy with the upgrades made to the campground (filtered water dispenser, new steps, etc). Front desk lady was extremely helpful. These campgrounds are generally quiet during the weekdays. Very buggy at this time of the year so bring bug spray, make campfire and memories! Lots of interesting wildlife spotted; I can see why it's popular to "bird" here.
Was an alright place. The bathrooms and showers were clean with hot water The camp spaces were spaced apart nicely to provide decent privacy. The campground has a small grocer, liquor, and beach goods store. It's not too far from the beach, but then you have to drive a ways to find the public parking.
