Customer Reviews
This is a jem tucked into the northeastern corner of Nebraska. Iris, the camp host is a joy. Our first full day staying here was raining and gloomy. No worries, Iris asked if we would like to jump in her pickup truck and see some sights. What an incredible experience. We saw where Lewis and Clark came ashore and camped, beautiful woods and landscapes, a tiny house community (some of those tiny houses are stunningly beautiful), ancestral locations and much more. Wild life (that we saw while there) numerous deer, turkeys, coyotes and more species of birds than I've seen in one location. The campgrounds itself is clean, mowed, litter free, spacious and quiet. They have a corn crib (opened) turned into a comfortable social area, chairs, tables, mood lighting and fun signs and I teresti g window frames, it's a real hoot! Midway between the 2 camp site locations is a Morton building. I side this building is a coffee corner which is fabulous! Coffee makers, microwaves, sink, little refrigerator tables and comfortable seating. I've never seen anything like it before. All this you are welcome to use if you wish. Sites have no electrics or water. Sites do have composting toilets, fire rings, shade and more than ample room to set up your outfit. Site 2 (where we stayed) also has picnic table, swing sets for the kids and fun painted wire spools for use as you need. They have mowed walking paths and a very nice short walk to Trinity Hill. This Hill is a magnificent place for contemplation and meditation. You are surrounded by fields. 2 miles away is the Missouri River and woods. While mowing, picking up tree limbs or cleaning toilets they will stop by and ask if you need or want anything. One more thing about the hosts, if weather turns inclement, they will come to your site and will at the very least invite you into their storm cellar (basement). This place is a constant work in progress. Native grasses are being grown and improvements to make our stay more comfortable. I want so bad to give 5 star rating and would have if electrics and water was provided (my personal requirement for 5 stars). If your coming from the east going west or from the west going east maybe you are just looking for a place to get away for a few days, this is the location to stop at. We payed $18 a night to stay here. Many locations charge far more for far less. My wife and I are coming back!
Stayed here twice so far and loved it!! Will be returning!!! The hostess Iris Dutton is very friendly and caring(making sure we're all good) and overall they're all just great people! The camping area to set up tents is really nice very clean! They have a firepit garbage can and a portapotty. But it's not just any portapotty first is it's a dry use one, it is definitely very tranquil and calming with how it looks and the spacious room it's not a cramped one. It's handicap accessible far as it looked. They also have a little trail you can walk by and just be submerged in the beautiful nebraska country! This place is a must try! I give it a 10 out of 5 met and exceed my expectations!
My husband and I stayed there for just one night while passing through. It was so cute and the sites were big, well kept, and had wonderful unique touches to them. Wished we could have stayed longer to explore!
