As Mainers, we cherish the rugged beauty of our state, and finding the perfect spot to reconnect with nature without venturing too far from our favorite coastal attractions is a true local treasure hunt. Located conveniently in Southern Maine,
Cascadia Park
offers a storied history and a natural setting for your next camping adventure, whether you're a seasoned RVer or looking for a quiet tent spot among the pines.Established in 1965, Cascadia Park has been a continuous destination for generations of campers, providing a unique, wooded escape that feels miles away from the hustle and bustle, yet remains incredibly close to the best of what Saco, Old Orchard Beach (OOB), and the surrounding areas have to offer. It caters to a diverse range of campers, offering a variety of site types to suit different needs and preferences, all while maintaining a strong connection to the natural environment that makes Maine so special.
Reviews from previous visitors highlight a very divided experience, painting a picture of a park that is deeply entrenched in a natural, rustic setting. Some have praised the peaceful atmosphere, the beautiful pine forest, and the sense of privacy and seclusion afforded by the wooded sites. They describe it as a calm, very private, and peaceful camping experience, perfect for those seeking a true forest retreat. However, other guests have noted significant maintenance issues, describing an overall state of neglect, including overgrown areas, downed trees, and older, abandoned equipment scattered around. This suggests that Cascadia Park is best suited for those campers who prioritize a deep, rustic, and natural feel over modern, highly manicured, or resort-style amenities, and who are prepared for a rugged camping experience.
Location and Accessibility
Cascadia Park boasts a prime location in the heart of Southern Maine's vacation land. The campground is situated on U.S. Route 1, a key artery for travel in the area, making it straightforward to find and access. Specifically, it is located at:
911 Portland Rd, Saco, ME 04072, USA
This address places the park approximately half a mile from the Old Orchard Beach town line. Its proximity to the coast is a major draw, sitting only about three miles from the beautiful Southern Maine ocean beaches, including Old Orchard Beach, Pine Point, and Ferry Beach. This makes a spontaneous day trip to the sand and surf incredibly easy.
Accessibility extends beyond the coast, too. Cascadia Park is just about one mile from the popular Funtown Splashtown USA amusement park and only three city blocks from the Aquaboggan Water Park, putting family-friendly entertainment within very easy reach. For those who enjoy outdoor activities, the Eastern Trail, a major scenic multi-use path for hiking and biking, is only about one mile from the office. Downtown Portland, with its vibrant Old Port district, acclaimed dining scene, and cultural attractions, is a manageable 12.5 miles away. The convenience of being located near I-95 (via exit 36 and I-195) also simplifies travel for Mainers coming from further afield.

Conclusion: Why Cascadia Park is Suitable for Locals
For those of us living in Maine, Cascadia Park offers a genuine 'staycation' opportunity—a place to get away without the long travel time. Its biggest draw is the unique blend of a deeply natural, rustic, and wooded camping environment with the unparalleled convenience of being minutes from the Southern Maine coastline and its main attractions.
If you are a Mainer who values peace and quiet, enjoys the privacy that a dense, natural setting provides, and is comfortable with a more traditional, "back to basics" camping experience where the focus is on nature rather than polished amenities, Cascadia Park is an excellent choice. It’s perfect for the local who wants to park their RV or pitch a tent in the shade of a pine grove before spending the day at Old Orchard Beach or taking a bike ride on the Eastern Trail. It provides the chance to escape the everyday and immerse yourself in a peaceful Maine forest, all while having Saco's local shops, restaurants, and the ocean just a short, convenient drive away. It allows you to embrace the rustic charm and mature landscape that define many authentic, long-standing Maine campgrounds.
However, local users should set expectations based on the mixed reviews. This is a historic, woodsy park that, according to some reports, has maintenance deferred over the years. If a fully modern, heavily maintained, and amenity-rich resort atmosphere is what you seek, this might not be your ideal spot. If, instead, you are looking for an affordable, private, and naturally beautiful sanctuary close to the beach and local entertainment, and you’re prepared for a rustic and unpretentious environment, Cascadia Park stands ready to host your next Southern Maine escape.

Should be 0 stars. I knew we were in a place we didn't want to be right from the entrance. Owners home that has trees growing out of the roof and the forest trying to consume it. Bathhouse looking in the same condition. I never entered it - would be too afraid to use the stairs. The mosquitoes will carry you away. Not good with all the mosquito borne diseases now. With an overgrown pine/hardwood area it is not surprising. Very large trees down all over in what would be a camp site. My guess would be it has been at least 15 years since any maintenance was done. Couldn't be outside because of the bugs, no WIFI except at the office area, forbidden to use streaming services, read the only book I brought in a day. It all made for a very long weekend while waiting to attend a family event. The ultimate turn off was the many years abandoned campers, trucks, etc scattered about. What a gold mine this would be if it were tended and actually run as a business. Please owners stop advertising it!!
Aug 18, 2025 · K WalkerVery beautiful camping in a pine forest. Very calm with a little bit of sound from the road. Its a very private and peaceful camping with all the utilities we needed. We arrived the same day and the owners found us a campground for our tent. We had a really nice time.
Jul 17, 2024 · Mathilde L'ArchevêqueSecond year in a row and yet again ANOTHER PLEASURABLE experience! Campground owners are helpful, accommodating, friendly and private. Sites are spacious, grassy and some gravel, large fire pits, plenty of space for pets and kids. Peaceful, quiet and very relaxing environment with very little road noise. Wood available & Garbage drop-off area, restrooms and showers, full site hookups and not many bugs at all. Worth the stay and will continue to do so when in the area! Highly recommended!
Sep 05, 2022 · Megan ReomeVery small, private, water, electric and sewer. Older family members run and operate property with friendly greeting and environment. Laundry, showers, restrooms and firewood on site. Some areas are covered in pine needles which can be easily brushed away. Would visit this site again for the sole purpose of privacy and peace. Close to Old Orchard beach.
