Casual Country Campground About
For many Ohioans, finding the perfect campground often involves a mix of seeking natural tranquility and reliable amenities for family fun. Casual Country Campground in Whitehouse, Ohio, has been a long-standing fixture in the local camping scene, offering a variety of campsite options from rustic tenting to full hookup RV sites. Historically, it has been known as a family-friendly destination where many families have created generations of cherished memories.
Casual Country Campground aims to provide a relaxed atmosphere for campers looking to unwind and enjoy the outdoors. The campground is designed to accommodate both transient visitors and seasonal campers, with a significant portion of its 150 sites dedicated to those seeking a more permanent summer retreat. This mix can foster a unique community feel, where neighbors get to know each other over extended periods.
However, it's important for prospective campers to be aware that the campground is currently undergoing a period of transition under new ownership. While past experiences have lauded the previous management for its commitment to cleanliness, family activities, and overall maintenance, recent reviews indicate that the new corporate ownership has led to significant changes. These changes include noticeable price increases, a reduction in organized activities, and a decline in the upkeep of some facilities, such as the in-ground pool and bathhouses. Despite these reported challenges, the campground still offers its core camping options and the opportunity for campers to carve out their own peaceful escape or engage in self-organized activities with fellow campers. It truly is a place where "it is what you make of it."
Casual Country Campground is conveniently located at 8664 Yawberg Rd, Whitehouse, OH 43571, USA. This address places it in Lucas County, in the quiet, rural setting of Whitehouse, Ohio. The location offers a good balance of peaceful countryside ambiance while maintaining accessibility to larger urban centers and popular attractions in Northwest Ohio.
The campground is approximately 25 minutes from Toledo, Ohio's fourth-largest city, which means campers have relatively easy access to city amenities, including shopping, dining, entertainment venues, and cultural institutions like the Toledo Zoo and Toledo Museum of Art. Whitehouse itself is a charming village, providing a local flavor and essential services without the hustle and bustle of a major city. The surrounding area is generally flat, making it easy to navigate for vehicles of all sizes. The terrain of the campground features a mix of open spaces and some treed areas, offering various site environments. Its rural setting provides a quiet escape from daily life, ideal for those looking to relax and reconnect with nature.

Information regarding specific "promotions or special offers" for Casual Country Campground is not widely advertised in public data, and recent customer reviews suggest a shift in pricing and value under new management. However, based on the nature of campgrounds, especially those with seasonal options, potential campers should inquire about:
- Nightly and Weekly Rates: Standard rates would apply for transient sites, varying based on hookup availability (primitive, water/electric, full hookup). Reviewers note significant price increases, so it's crucial to get current rates directly from the campground.
- Seasonal Site Pricing: For long-term campers, the campground offers seasonal sites where campers can leave their units year-round. These rates are generally higher but provide convenience. Recent feedback suggests a doubling of these rates, prompting many long-term campers to leave.
- Guest Fees: While the previous owner reportedly allowed free guests for seasonal campers, new policies may include daily fees for visitors over a certain age (e.g., $5 per day for guests over 18), as indicated by recent reviews.
- Early Booking Incentives: Some campgrounds offer discounts for booking early, especially for popular holiday weekends. It's advisable to call well in advance for holiday weekend reservations.
Given the recent changes and expressed concerns regarding pricing, it is highly recommended that prospective campers contact Casual Country Campground directly to obtain the most current and accurate information on all rates, fees, and any available specials before making reservations. This direct communication will help manage expectations regarding costs and included amenities.

Customer Reviews
I’ve been camping here since I was three years old. This place has gone down hill so quickly with the new corporate take over. You can really tell they are in it for the money. People used to wait for YEARS to get a permanent spot now I wouldn’t even look twice at it. The price raise is absolutely ridiculous. Almost criminal, forcing almost half the camp out with the insane raise, with the pool down, the bath house in terrible condition, the playgrounds run down, the pond in horrible condition and much much more. There isn’t anything good left. Would never recommend this campground to a friend after 19 years of religiously camping here every single summer.
My family has been camping here for 29 years (as of 6/2/25). The previous owner did a phenomenal job running the place; it was kept clean, family friendly, and had a lot of activities to do, especially for kids. I gave it a 5 star before but am changing it to a 2 star because the current owners don't do anything. The in-ground pool has been torn up and out of commission all of last season and is still not ready, there are no activities put together unless the campers band together to run things, and the rent is double what it was before with less activities and events than before. Furthermore, the current owner had said that while the rent is doubled, guests of campers are free to visit. However, after the doubled rent was paid now all guests over 18 years old must pay $5 per day. This wouldn't bother me so much since that isn't too pricy if there was still anything to do besides sitting in the trailer or in the yard. I can do that at home for free. Many people have pulled their trailers out. It's a shame.
First time there Friday, we called last minute and they had a spot! Super friendly and well kept, We were invited to all you can eat pancakes the next morning and we went. Everyone made it a point to welcome us. We really liked it here and will definitely be back! Thank you so much for the warm welcome and all the thoughtfulness.
My family and I travel for a living so we stay in rv parks across the nation. This place is quiet and beautiful, but the sites are in areas that retain water so it's muddy when it rains and there's no gravel for parking at our site. The water is well water so you better have a strong stomach. It smells like boiled eggs really bad 👎 😕 😩... The bath house says it has hot water but most definitely only gets Luke warm, if even that. The pool is down and will remain down for at least another year. No swimming in the pond either. I wish I would have known all of these things before paying for an entire month. Looks like we will tough it out, as theres no refund policy. Definitely won't stay for a second month. The people are nice though. It just seems this place has seen some better days.
Well from when I was there a few years ago everything went smoothly bathrooms were kept up playgrounds were cleaned and it just was a lot going on. Now everything is getting neglected and it just ain't the same love and care at that place. It's sad to see so many people that you created a relationship with has up and moved out of there things have got to shappin up there or there is going to be a lot more moving out. Sad
