Cleburne County, AL 36258, USA
For those of us in Alabama who cherish the simplicity and raw beauty of the great outdoors, finding a truly authentic camping experience can be a real treat. CCC Campground, located in Cleburne County, Alabama, offers just that: a chance to connect with nature in a more primitive setting. Unlike many highly developed campgrounds, CCC Campground leans into a rustic charm, providing a peaceful retreat for campers who appreciate a back-to-basics approach. It's a place where the sounds of the forest replace urban noise, and starry nights are truly unobstructed. This campground is ideal for individuals and groups looking to escape the modern world and embrace the serenity of Alabama's natural landscapes, offering a stepping stone to the vast recreational opportunities of the surrounding Talladega National Forest.
The "CCC" in CCC Campground refers to the Civilian Conservation Corps, a historic program from the 1930s that played a vital role in developing many of our state's parks and natural areas. This heritage often implies a focus on natural preservation and well-built, though rustic, infrastructure. As one local camper noted, it's a "pretty good place if you like fairly primitive camping." While offering a more rugged experience, it still provides the essential amenities for a comfortable stay. It’s a favorite among those who prioritize being immersed in nature over extensive amenities, making it a unique gem within Alabama’s camping scene.
CCC Campground is nestled within Cleburne County, Alabama, specifically within the expansive and beautiful Talladega National Forest. The address, Cleburne County, AL 36258, USA, places it in a prime position for accessing some of the state's most significant natural landmarks. Cleburne County itself is known for its rolling hills, dense forests, and the highest point in Alabama, Cheaha Mountain, which is home to Cheaha State Park.
Accessibility to CCC Campground typically involves navigating scenic, and sometimes less-traveled, roads within the national forest. While it offers a sense of seclusion, it is generally reachable by standard vehicles, though larger RVs might find the more primitive nature of the campground's immediate vicinity challenging, as suggested by reviews indicating campsites can be "pretty close together." This might mean less maneuverability for very large rigs. However, for tents, pop-ups, and smaller RVs, the journey into the heart of the forest is part of the adventure. Its location provides a fantastic base for exploring the diverse ecosystems of the Talladega National Forest, including its extensive network of hiking trails, such as the Pinhoti Trail, and opportunities for wildlife viewing. The remoteness contributes to the tranquil atmosphere, allowing campers to truly disconnect and enjoy the natural surroundings, yet it’s still within a reasonable driving distance for many Alabamians looking for a weekend escape.

It's a testament to the enduring appeal of traditional camping and a valuable resource for locals looking for an authentic outdoor escape.
This is a pretty good place if you like fairly primitive camping. The one drawback is the campsites are all pretty close together, so not a lot of privacy on a busy weekend. We still had a pretty good time though. Weather was amazing, fall color and a full moon that you could almost read by.
