This prime location places it right on the banks of the famous Chassahowitzka River, commonly known as "The Chaz," in the heart of Florida's stunning Nature Coast. Homosassa itself is a charming community in Citrus County, celebrated for its crystal-clear springs, abundant wildlife, and access to the Gulf of Mexico.

The campground's direct riverfront access is its most significant locational advantage. This means campers have unparalleled opportunities to launch kayaks, canoes, or paddleboards directly from the site, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the Chassahowitzka River and its numerous spring-fed tributaries. The river is a popular spot for observing manatees, particularly during cooler months, as well as a diverse array of bird species and other native Florida wildlife.

Accessibility to the campground is straightforward for those traveling from various parts of Florida. Homosassa is located just off U.S. Route 19, a major north-south highway that runs along Florida's Gulf Coast. This makes it easily reachable from cities to the north like Crystal River and Gainesville, and to the south like Spring Hill and Tampa. Even from Central Florida hubs like Orlando, the drive is a manageable two hours or so, offering a convenient escape from urban hustle.

Loved our stay. Quiet camping. Well shaded with trees. Some sites are a bit tight, but not that bad. Have seen worse. The roads inside campground could use some work. Few potholes. There had been lot of rain maybe it’s in their plan to fix them. Staff was very friendly and great! Kayak rental was easy. Very helpful in launching and returning. We had a great time! Will be back.

We went to the Chaz for kayaking and as usual it was wonderful. The staff is so nice and helpful. The ticket booth is now up by the campground office so that threw us off for a few minutes. The original office/store was damaged by the hurricanes. But didn't ruin the day by any means. Love this place!

Love this little campground. Good price, full hookups, air conditioned, clean bath house, close to the river for paddling and still close to town for groceries or going out to eat. Easy peasy to get to and to get set up. Been here three times and will definitely be returning.

Great to get away from super tourist of Crystal river for manatees and kayaking. Closes at 430 on weekdays unfortunately but we drove up and they were available. Would've enjoyed more evening time on the water. We ended up seeing and snorkeling with the manatees.
