Beautiful place to go camping, staff at office & contact station are always helpful & friendly. Be sure to check out the playground and attend worship services Sundays at 9:30 AM. The Mary Ann Furnace trail leads from that area as well and is not too long to take. There's dog friendly campsites & the Timber Doodle sites are closer to the water.
Love this campground, been tent camping here multiple times. Convenient on line reservation, very reasonable prices, park rangers perform patrols throughout the day and night, clean pads for tents or RVs, clean well maintained bathrooms, site electric has 20A & 30A outlets. primitive sites also available, easy access to strategically located dump/garbage bins. Oh, if you have t-mobile for your mobile phones, the signal is good. Quiet time i believe is 10pm, never had issues with noise from other campers
We camped for a weekend at spot A-15. The park was nice but we camped for other activities close by. The campsite was nice, but it did have a slight grade, and there is also a cut sign post partially sticking out of the ground here. It could be a tripping / cutting hazard for children or anyone not wearing shoes. The bathrooms were clean and relatively close by, with showers being offered as well. Overall, the stay was pleasant.
Camped 2 nights in October in a motorhome. Loop B is very wooded and secluded. The grounds were nicely maintained. Some of the roads needed a little attention. My site was very level, and surrounded by giant oak trees. BTW acorns falling 45 ft onto the RV roof are quite startling. The lake was very beautiful with clear water and the fall foliage just starting to turn. Also enjoyed bicycling around the beautiful well maintained day use grounds. There's a very large pool (additional fee) but it was closed for the season. Loops A & B are heavily wooded, C is partially wooded, and D is open grass. There's also a primitive tent area called timberdoodle. There's a kayak launch at the end of the timber doodle, and also at the marina and main launch area just on the other side of RT216.
