Cook's Lake RV Resort and Campground About

Welcome to Cook's Lake RV Resort and Campground, your practical and conveniently located destination for RV adventures in Memphis, Tennessee! If you're a Tennessean seeking a spot to set up your RV, whether for a quick city visit or a longer stay, Cook's Lake offers a unique blend of urban accessibility and a touch of outdoor relaxation with its on-site lake. Situated in the vibrant heart of West Tennessee, this RV park provides a functional base for exploring the iconic sights, sounds, and flavors of Memphis, from Beale Street to the legendary Graceland. While the park aims to offer essential amenities and a comfortable stay, its primary appeal lies in its strategic location and the core services it provides for RV travelers.

Cook's Lake RV Resort and Campground is conveniently located at 4249 N Watkins St, Memphis, TN 38127, USA. This address places it in North Memphis, offering straightforward access for both local Tennesseans and those traveling from out of state. The park's proximity to major interstate highways, particularly I-40 and I-240, ensures easy arrival and departure for RVs of all sizes, minimizing challenging city navigation. For residents across Tennessee, reaching Memphis is typically a direct route via major arteries like I-40 from Nashville and beyond. The location is a significant highlight, positioning campers "6 miles from the Bass Pro Shop pyramid," a popular Memphis landmark and retail destination. This also means you are within a reasonable driving distance of other Memphis attractions like Graceland, Beale Street, and the National Civil Rights Museum, as well as essential city amenities like grocery stores, diverse dining options, and local services. Its accessibility makes it a practical choice for both short visits and extended stays while working or exploring the Memphis area.

Cook's Lake RV Resort and Campground strives to provide the fundamental services necessary for a comfortable RV stay. Based on available information and common offerings in RV parks, guests can generally expect:

  • Full Hookup RV Sites: The park is understood to offer RV sites with full hookups, typically including electric (with various amp options like 30 and 50 amp), water, and sewer connections. This ensures convenience for self-contained RVs.

  • On-Site Fishing Lake: A notable amenity, the park features a "lake to fish as well," providing a relaxing recreational activity right on the property.

  • Swimming Pool: The park has a "pool" which, when open, offers a refreshing escape during warmer months. Note: Recent reviews indicate ongoing issues with consistent pool access and cleanliness, and that the bathhouse facilities were "being completely replaced" as of early 2024.

  • Bathhouse and Restrooms: While there have been reports of cleanliness issues and closures for replacement, the park intends to provide a bathhouse with restrooms and showers for guest use. Visitors should confirm current operational status.

  • Laundry Facilities: A "laundry mat" is available, though recent reviews suggest inconsistencies in functionality and availability of machines. It is advisable to verify the current working order of laundry machines.

  • Pet-Friendly: The park accommodates "campers with dogs," indicating a pet-friendly policy. Guests should adhere to all park rules regarding pet leashing and cleanup.

  • WiFi: The park's website may advertise Wi-Fi. However, recent reviews strongly suggest that "No WiFi" is consistently available directly from the park, and guests may need to purchase their own internet service (e.g., mobile hotspot). While some report a "hot spot box" system, availability may be limited ("sold out").

  • Long-Term and Short-Term Stays: The park caters to both short-term visitors and those staying for extended periods, even "an entire year," offering flexible booking options.

Cook's Lake RV Resort and Campground offers several key features that contribute to its appeal as a Memphis RV destination:

  • Prime Memphis Location: Its most significant highlight is its accessibility and proximity to Memphis attractions. Being "6 miles from the Bass Pro Shop pyramid" and having easy access to major highways positions it perfectly for urban exploration.

  • On-Site Fishing Lake: The presence of a fishing lake directly within the park offers a convenient and relaxing activity for guests who enjoy angling, providing a pleasant break from city touring.

  • Accommodation for Long-Term Stays: The park regularly accommodates guests for extended periods, even up to a year, making it a viable option for those working in Memphis or needing long-term temporary housing.

  • Community Interaction (Potential): While experiences vary, the presence of long-term residents can sometimes foster a sense of community. Previous positive interactions with the manager "Mike" and efforts to retrieve lost items indicate a potential for helpfulness.

  • Accessible for Large RVs: Given its design as an RV park, it is likely designed to accommodate larger rigs, offering sufficient space for maneuvering and parking.

  • Pet-Friendly Environment: The park's acceptance of pets means that campers can bring their beloved companions along, which is a key consideration for many travelers.

While specific, publicly advertised "promotions" beyond standard rates are not widely detailed, RV parks often have a straightforward pricing structure, with potential benefits for longer stays.

  • Long-Term Stay Options: The park clearly caters to those needing to stay for extended periods (e.g., monthly rates), which are typically more economical than daily rates. It is always best to contact them directly for current long-term pricing.

  • Direct Booking Benefits: Booking directly with the park can sometimes lead to the best available rates or provide flexibility that third-party booking sites might not offer.

When we first moved into the park, a year ago, they were super friendly. As a matter of fact, you couldn’t ask for better help when it came to Mike the manager. Until it’s time for you to leave the park, all of a sudden asking for help was more of a nuisance to him than anything else. And he had absolutely no problem showing it. Really disappointed, I seriously thought he was one of the greatest people. Their rules are only for some of the campers. They will hassle and harass you over your SMALL dog being tied out in your personal area, but when you drive around the park….you see tons of other campers with dogs as big as bulldogs tied out. Nothing was done, because they would still be tied out for literally months still, even when we left. The website says they have WiFi, that’s a blatant lie. No WiFi, you will have to buy your own. We even had them reassure us there was internet, we parked and conveniently they had and kept issues. We never got internet through them. Some people said you could get a box, when asked for the said box, they said they were sold out. 🤷🏽‍♀️ The pool is nice, for the most part. Until the owner says the pool is closed, but the next day you see people in it. Including said owner. Trying to get your kid with autism to accept the fact that he’s the owner and can do whatever you want was such a pain for me. It was only closed to certain people. We got a kiddy pool for the kids and made the best of it anyway. The bath house was always filthy, even if they cleaned it. They’re currently being completely replaced. Closed down during the entire winter, and it was too hot to breathe in there during the summer. Tons and tons of bugs. LIKE A LOT. Laundry mat…. Where do you start? It was open half the time, and even then… you were lucky to get 2 washers and 1 dryer that worked. The park for the kids was just pitiful. Friendly, as long as you’re paying. Owner wasn’t my cup of tea at all, stayed literally an entire year… he only spoke to me twice. One was fussing about the dog (He and his ol’ lady was constantly cruising around on the roads and one day.. randomly decided to just drive up into my yard and start blowing the horn at the camper… the door was open, and I was right there. I will never forget how dramatically the woman was hugged up on this big man’s arm, like she had been attacked or some thing) and said hello in passing. I guess she’s just a fearful woman or something, because when the security guard told me to go to the house at 6am and they could help me. She peeked through the blinds, saw me, but refused to answer the door. Maybe I looked like a criminal? Mike did go above and beyond to help me retrieve my lost items though. The owner is his Stepfather, the skiddish woman is his Mother. They blow you up hardcore 3-4 days before rent is due, like you forget it’s on the 1st of every month. Not sure what that was about, we always paid. When we left, it was still paid up for 4 more days. When we were leaving, and Mike got aggravated, when we asked for help… as he scoffs and leaves, his exact words to us wasn’t bye or good luck. It was, “I’m busy. It’s the 1st of the month.” Money talks, Folks! Pros? 6 miles from the Bass Pro Shop pyramid. Don’t forget to show some love to this awesome little breakfast joint called “The Haystack.”

Friendly people, quiet place- really nice with the lake next to you. The bathrooms on the other hand were terrible. It was in a container and hasn’t been cleaned in a long time. We were very happy we had a bathroom in our RV. The wifi was really bad.

Travel nurse couple with 5th wheel. Stayed here June thru late September. Nice park we didn't have any issues here, nice quiet park, we parked along the lake a little extra $ but worth it, we put the kayaks in a few times... it's water. Pool was great during the summer. On-site laundry was convenient, didn't use their restroom/shower house. Would stay again, if we end up in Memphis.

Nice peaceful place to spend quality time with family and friends. Get in some good fishing. Relax by the fire pit and just enjoy country living but not too far from the city life❣️ The staff AKA Mike and Missy are Definitely the Real MVPS and are excellent at hanging anything you might possibly need.
