Camping in West Virginia is more than just pitching a tent or parking an RV; it's about immersing oneself in the state's rugged charm and enjoying the peace that comes with being surrounded by nature. While some campgrounds are bustling hubs of activity, others, like Country Cottage Rentals & RV Park LLC, lean towards a more serene and understated experience. Understanding this distinction is crucial for prospective campers, as it helps align expectations with the reality of the park's atmosphere. Whether you're an experienced RVer or looking for a quiet retreat, exploring the specifics of this Carolina, WV, location will aid in your planning.
It's important to note that every campground has its unique characteristics, including access challenges and management styles. While some past customer feedback points to very specific issues, the overall impression for many is that of a "great little hidden gem" offering excellent value. This overview will present a balanced perspective, detailing the campground's location, available services, and highlights drawn from public reviews, providing West Virginia campers with the information they need to make an informed decision for their next journey.
While the address indicates a central location within Carolina, a significant point of accessibility highlighted by a reviewer is the nature of the roads leading to the campground. It's explicitly stated that "The roads to get here are absolutely insane and you should be very experienced hauling a camper to drive them." This crucial piece of information indicates that accessing the campground, especially with a large RV or trailer, requires a high level of driving skill and confidence on challenging terrain. This is a vital consideration for any RVer planning a visit.
Despite the challenging approach, once at the campground, the location offers a sense of seclusion and peace. Its placement in a smaller community like Carolina means it's away from heavy traffic and urban noise, contributing to the quiet environment that many campers seek. For those who successfully navigate the access roads, the reward is a tranquil base from which to explore the surrounding natural beauty of West Virginia.
- RV Sites with Full Hookups: The campground provides RV sites with "nice" hookups, indicating that water, electric (30/50 amp), and sewer connections are available at each lot. This is a significant convenience for RVers, allowing for comfortable and self-sufficient stays without needing to constantly rely on external facilities.
- Dump Spots at Each Lot: A key convenience highlighted by a reviewer is the presence of "dump spots at each lot." This means RVers do not need to wait in line or travel to a central dump station, making waste disposal quick and easy from their individual site.
- Affordable Nightly Rates: The campground is noted for being "affordable at $20/night" (as per a review from 2023). This competitive pricing makes it a highly attractive option for budget-conscious campers looking for value in West Virginia.
- Long-Term Stays/Worker Accommodation: While not explicitly stated for this specific park, the business name "Country Cottage Rentals" suggests that in addition to RV sites, there may be options for cottage or cabin rentals, potentially catering to longer-term stays or workers in the area. Such facilities often come with private bathrooms and basic kitchenettes, as seen in similar "country cottage" offerings elsewhere.
- Customer Service: One reviewer praised the "super nice" owners when speaking to them on the phone, indicating a friendly and approachable management style. However, another review detailed significant issues with communication and resolving a refund dispute, suggesting that consistency in communication may be a point of consideration for some.
- Exceptional Value: At an affordable rate of $20/night (as reviewed), with full hookups and individual dump spots, the campground offers outstanding value for RVers. This makes it a very budget-friendly option for both short and potentially longer stays.
- Very Quiet Spot: A consistently praised feature is the tranquility of the campground. It's described as a "very quiet spot," making it ideal for those seeking a peaceful retreat from noise and crowds. This is a significant draw for campers prioritizing relaxation and a serene natural environment.
- Convenient Individual Dump Spots: The presence of a dump spot at "each lot" is a rare and highly convenient feature for RVers, eliminating the need to move their rig to a central station for waste disposal.
- Friendly Owners (Initial Contact): The initial positive experience with the owners described as "super nice" on the phone suggests a welcoming first impression and a personal touch in their customer service.
- "Hidden Gem" Appeal: The recurring description as a "great little hidden gem" implies that those who discover it appreciate its unique charm, affordability, and quietude, despite potential access challenges. This suggests a more intimate and less commercialized camping experience.
- Rural West Virginia Setting: Located in Carolina, WV, the campground offers an authentic rural West Virginia experience, surrounded by natural landscapes and a slower pace of life.
However, it is always recommended for prospective campers to directly contact the campground to inquire about any potential deals or special conditions that might be available. While unlikely to offer large-scale promotions common at bigger resorts, smaller, family-owned campgrounds sometimes have:
- Discounts for extended stays (e.g., weekly or monthly rates).
- Seasonal specials during less busy periods.
- Repeat customer incentives.
The best way to determine current rates and any potential offers is to call Country Cottage Rentals & RV Park LLC directly using the provided phone numbers. This will ensure you receive the most accurate and up-to-date information for your planned stay in Carolina, WV.

Given some varied customer feedback on communication, it is advisable to be prepared for the possibility that while initial phone contact with the owners has been described as "super nice," follow-up on complex issues might require persistence. It's recommended to call during reasonable hours to ensure the best chance of reaching someone who can assist with your inquiries about this quiet West Virginia campground.
The highly affordable nightly rate of $20, coupled with the luxury of full hookups and individual dump spots at each lot, offers unparalleled value that is hard to find elsewhere. The promise of a "very quiet spot" directly addresses the desire for a peaceful escape from the everyday, allowing campers to fully relax and connect with West Virginia's natural serenity.
While the access roads require careful navigation for those hauling campers, and some past communication issues have been noted, the core offering of a quiet, affordable, and well-equipped RV park remains strong for its target audience. First... The roads to get here are absolutely insane and you should be very experienced hauling a camper to drive them. Very quiet spot, affordable at $20/night. Hookups are nice and dump spots at each lot. The owners were super nice when I spoke to them on the phone. We won't be back through that way any time soon but would definitely recommend it to anyone that is. Great little hidden gem.
Stayed a few days. Water was off so I called and asked if there was a problem and was told yea there is a leak. It was only my water that was turned off with no warning or update of problem fixed. Found a lot closer to job so asked to prorate rent. They did give me a refund but misplaced/lost the check during move, my bad. Have tried for 3 months to have one mailed to my home address even asked if they need to put a stop payment on first check to please deduct the amount from what they owe me. They stopped communicating so their greed wins. I do not recommend this place to anyone.

The people who own it are AMAZING!! They are the sweetest people ever. We work out of town and live in our camper. We have been parked there for almost a year now. I don't see us moving it anytime soon. I cannot say enough wonderful things about it.

Needed reservation as they are a small campground and have slot of work crews parked there. They were very accommodating and allowed is to park in their field and run our generator so we could use our air conditioner for our 3 dogs.

Bad customer service! After calling SEVERAL TIMES and leaving detailed messages, this place won’t even give me a call back! If you can’t accommodate us for the dates and or the size or for any reason, give me the courtesy of a call back especially after I’ve called 4 times! It looks like a nice campground and it has great reviews but they don’t have the decency to return my calls then I can’t even give them a 1 star.
