Its reputation for cleanliness and a friendly environment, particularly among its staff, adds to its appeal as a local favorite.

Location and Accessibility: Perfectly Placed for Northern Michigan Exploration

East Mullett Campground is conveniently located at 2542 Schramm Rd, Indian River, MI 49749, USA. This prime location places it just a stone’s throw from the beautiful Mullett Lake, a significant body of water forming part of Michigan’s famous Inland Waterway. Its proximity to US-27 and I-75 makes it easily accessible for campers traveling from various parts of Michigan and beyond.

Indian River itself is a charming community known for its access to inland lakes and rivers, offering a variety of recreational opportunities. From East Mullett Campground, you're not only close to boating and fishing on Mullett Lake but also within a reasonable driving distance of other popular Northern Michigan towns like Cheboygan, Mackinaw City, and Petoskey. This central location makes it an excellent base for day trips to historical sites, quaint downtowns, and even venturing across the Mackinac Bridge to explore the wonders of the Upper Peninsula. The strategic positioning of the campground truly enhances the visitor's ability to experience the diverse attractions of our beautiful state.

Services Offered: Tailored for a Comfortable Camping Experience

East Mullett Campground strives to provide a comfortable and convenient camping experience, particularly for RV enthusiasts, while also accommodating tent campers. Its range of services is designed to cater to essential needs, ensuring a pleasant stay.

  • Full Hookup RV Sites: A significant advantage for RV campers, many sites offer full hookups, including water, electricity (up to 30ft campers or more), and sewer connections. This makes for a very convenient stay, especially for longer durations.

  • Clean Bathrooms and Showers: Visitors consistently praise the cleanliness of the campground's bathroom and shower facilities, a crucial aspect for any comfortable camping experience.

  • Private and Quiet Setting: The campground is noted for its very private and quiet atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for those seeking a peaceful retreat away from crowded, noisy environments.

  • First-Come, First-Served Basis: Unlike many campgrounds that require advance reservations, East Mullett Campground operates on a first-come, first-served policy. This offers flexibility for spontaneous trips, though it’s wise to arrive earlier during peak season to secure a desired spot.

  • Friendly Staff: Numerous reviews highlight the incredibly nice and friendly nature of the staff, particularly the manager, Katie, who goes out of her way to assist campers.

While some sites may not come equipped with a fire pit or picnic table, the management, as noted by some positive reviews, has been known to be accommodating in providing these when possible, reflecting a commitment to guest satisfaction.

Features and Highlights: What Makes East Mullett Stand Out

Beyond the basic services, East Mullett Campground boasts several features that enhance the camping experience and make it a desirable destination for Michigan locals.

  • Affordable Rates: At approximately $25 a night for a 30ft camper with full hookup, the campground offers an amazing deal, making it a very economical choice for extended stays.

  • Proximity to Mullett Lake: While not directly on the lake, the campground is very close, offering easy access for fishing, boating, and other water sports. Mullett Lake is known for its excellent fishing opportunities and is part of the scenic Inland Waterway.

  • Surrounded by Great Towns and Historical Sites: Its location near Indian River means campers are close to a variety of attractions, including Burt Lake State Park, the Cross in the Woods Shrine, and various local shops and eateries. The surrounding area is rich in natural beauty and historical significance.

  • Gateway to the Upper Peninsula: For those eager to explore further north, East Mullett Campground serves as an excellent stepping stone to the Upper Peninsula, allowing for easy day trips to places like Mackinac Island or the expansive wilderness across the bridge.

  • Ideal for Private and Quiet Stays: If your goal is to truly escape the noise and enjoy a peaceful environment, this campground's secluded nature is a major draw.

It's worth noting that some guests have reported inconsistencies in pricing and communication regarding additional charges, particularly for extra children or tents. While the generally positive reviews emphasize the value and friendly staff, it is always advisable to confirm all potential fees directly with the campground prior to your arrival to ensure a smooth check-in process.

Promotions or Special Offers: Planning Your Stay

Given its first-come, first-served policy, East Mullett Campground typically does not offer formal promotions or special packages in the traditional sense, as is common with many privately owned campgrounds that operate this way. The primary "offer" is the consistent, affordable daily rate for a full hookup site, which is considered an excellent value by many returning campers.

For Michigan residents, the convenience of a no-reservation policy means you can pack up your RV or camping gear and head out whenever the mood strikes, without the stress of needing a long-term booking. However, especially during popular times like holiday weekends (such as the 4th of July, as mentioned in a review), arriving earlier in the week can increase your chances of securing a desirable site. It's always a good practice to have cash or a preferred payment method ready upon arrival for the daily fees.

We had a wonderful time for our 4th Of July 4 day stay at this RV campsite. If you want a very private and quite time, this is absolutely the place you need to come. Very clean bathrooms & showers. The people were very friendly😀🇺🇸👍. No need for reservations because first come means first served and for $25 a night for my 30ft camper with full hookup is an amazing deal. It’s located and surrounded by great towns, historical sites and our best choice was being near to the Upper Penisula🤩. I recommend this campsite and planning to come back when we are always in this area!!!👍

Nasty owner. Overpriced. Not every site has a fire pit or picnic table. The manager, Katie, was incredibly nice and friendly. She even offered to build a fire pit for our group of five sites (9 adults, 7 children). Katie also brought us an additional 1 1/2 picnic table to add to our 1 picnic tables. It was a virtually empty campground. There were no tables more to spare. The guests who came on Friday (we checked in Thursday) didn’t have the privilege of a picnic table.. The owner wanted to charge 5$ extra per child per night, and 25$ extra per child’s pup tent on site per night. Two days later, she quoted only $5 per child AFTER two children, but later contradicted herself and tried to again charge per child per night. I was told by the owner if I didn’t like it, I could leave. Unfortunately, the communication the owner has with staff is unacceptable.
