For New Jersey residents, Egg Harbor Lake Campground represents an ideal mix of convenience, natural beauty, and recreational value. Its primary appeal lies in providing a genuine "get away from it all" experience that is still close to home.
Firstly, the **refreshing, clean lake swimming** is a massive draw, especially during the warm summer months. Local users know that finding a guarded, accessible, and clean freshwater lake beach in the region is a true gem, making this campground a preferred spot over crowded ocean beaches for a relaxed afternoon dip. As one customer noted, the swimming is “so much fun” and the forest scent is deeply relaxing.
Secondly, the **strategic location in the Pine Barrens** gives locals a chance to explore a vast, unique wilderness that is central to New Jersey’s identity, while being conveniently close to major services. This is not a secluded, deep-woods destination but rather a highly accessible park that still manages to feel like a true nature retreat. The ability to transition quickly from a peaceful hike in the woods to the dining and entertainment of Atlantic City makes it perfect for local families with diverse interests.
Finally, the **family-centric activities**, from mini-golf to the playground and the availability of group rentals, cement its status as a highly suitable local resource. It’s a place where you can easily organize a family birthday, a club outing, or simply let the kids enjoy supervised fun in a safe environment. While there have been occasional concerns about booking and policies, the park's commitment to providing a fun, feature-rich, and friendly environment in a prime New Jersey location ensures it remains a top choice for residents seeking an accessible, quality camping experience. Book your site and reconnect with the natural side of South Jersey!

I absolutely love this place! Everything you need is close by, and the clean lake is especially amazing — swimming there is so much fun. The best time to visit is when the temperature is between 75–80°F; after that, it can get a bit stuffy. The staff is super friendly, and I really enjoy the fresh forest scent in this campground — it reminds me of a fir tree forest. A great place to relax and recharge!
Jul 18, 2025 · Pavel SviridenkoI input the dates for my trip & received the following info. Before I booked I looked at the website & found they were closed most of the week I wanted to book. I spoke to the owner who refused to even work with me on it, said it didn't show what I took a picture of and told me if I wanted to spend that amount I should go to a state park. That is false advertising & I am also sending this to the BBB
Aug 18, 2025 · Suzanne DeBevoiseGreat campground - Nice campsites, lots of shade, beach right in front of site, very clean and staff was very pleasant. Has literally thousands of blueberry and huckleberry bushes in full fruiting season in the first week of July! You could have 200 people picking and you wouldn’t leave without a ton berries. The nice lady at the snack bar makes the best empanadas I’ve ever had! We asked her if she would make a dozen for us to take on your way out and was happy to oblige us.
Jul 15, 2025 · Heather BroatchIt's always a good relaxing time here. This time around, we stayed in the Yort. What a great idea they were comfortable and well maintained, and they were air conditioned they were priced relatively inexpensive for the comfort of not having to build a tent. The staff was very hospitable and welcoming we hope to return soon
