Hidden Valley Campground provides a range of services designed to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay for all its guests. The owners, Matt and Angie, are dedicated to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and guest satisfaction.

  • Diverse Campsite Options: Hidden Valley offers both RV and tent sites. For RVs, sites come with electric and water hookups (20, 30, or 50 AMP services available) to cater to various camper sizes. Tent campers can choose between electric and water sites or more primitive options.
  • Clean Portable Restrooms: While specific details on full modern bathhouses weren't explicit in all descriptions, the campground provides clean, portable restrooms. This indicates a commitment to hygiene even in a more rustic setting for some areas. (Note: One external search result indicated clean bathrooms, showers, and laundry for a Hidden Valley RV Park in Texas; for the Vinton, IA location, the website states "Clean, portable restrooms provided").
  • RV Dump Station: A convenient dump station is available for RVs, making waste disposal hassle-free. This has been an upgrade since the 2011 derecho, reflecting the owners' continuous improvements.
  • Boat Ramp: Located right on the Cedar River, the campground offers a convenient boat ramp, providing easy access for boating, kayaking, or fishing enthusiasts.
  • Monitored Gate: For enhanced security and peace of mind, the campground features a monitored gate that closes at night, ensuring a safe environment for families.
  • Carry In/Carry Out Trash Policy: This policy encourages campers to be responsible for their waste, contributing to the overall cleanliness and pristine appearance of the campground.
  • Reservation System: Sites at Hidden Valley Campground are reservation-only, managed by calling Matt directly. This helps ensure a spot is available upon arrival and allows for better planning.

  • Open Green Spaces: Hidden Valley features "large open areas for playing a game with the kids or the dogs," allowing for plenty of room for recreational activities.
  • Outdoor Stargazing: At night, guests can enjoy the "outdoor theater of stars," a fantastic opportunity for stargazing away from city lights.
  • Proximity to Vinton Attractions: Beyond the campground, Vinton offers local adventures such as a Splash Pad, various trails (Nathan's Miles Glow Trail, Old Creamery Trail, Riverside Park Trail System), movies at the Palace Movie Theatre, mini golf, and rollerskating at the Vinton Skate & Activity Center. For information regarding promotions or special offers at Hidden Valley Campground, the best approach is to contact Matt directly, as sites are reservation-only by phone. While state-level park systems might have standard rates and occasional discounts, smaller, family-owned campgrounds like Hidden Valley often manage their pricing and any specials personally. They are known for having "great prices," as mentioned by a happy camper.

Potential promotions or booking information to inquire about might include:

  • Daily Rates: As noted by a search result, electric and water sites are around $22 per night (note: pricing can change, always confirm directly).
  • Seasonal Stays: Some private campgrounds offer seasonal rates for longer-term campers. It's worth asking if this is an option for extended visits.
  • Group Bookings: If you're planning a large family reunion or a group camping trip, inquire if any special rates or arrangements can be made for multiple sites.
  • Future Developments: As the owners are continuously improving the campground (e.g., "tour of the new house Matt"), they might occasionally have special offers related to new amenities or opening phases.

The personal touch of contacting Matt directly ensures you get the most accurate and up-to-date information on pricing, availability, and any unique offers available for your planned visit.

The campers were very unwelcoming and the property manager acted as if he didn't want us there and didn't provide any details or information. No picnic tables at the sites.
