Hilltop RV and Mobile Home Park has a distinct character, primarily appealing to those who prioritize a calm and relaxing environment. Reviewers often highlight its "quiet, peaceful, and relaxing" ambiance, making it an ideal retreat after a day of travel or work. This focus on tranquility is a significant draw, allowing residents and visitors to truly unwind amidst the natural beauty that surrounds Glen Morgan. It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy the simple pleasures of rural West Virginia living.
The park is managed by individuals who are noted for being "great to work with," fostering a supportive and responsive environment. This personal touch from the owner, Terry, and the manager, Tony, contributes significantly to the overall positive experience for many residents and guests. While the road leading to the park has been a point of discussion for some larger rigs, the ample size of the RV sites themselves means that once you're there, even large vehicles can be accommodated comfortably. For West Virginians looking for a serene spot with dedicated management, Hilltop RV and Mobile Home Park offers a compelling option for finding their next quiet home base or extended stay.
Hilltop RV and Mobile Home Park is located at 119 Windon Rd, Glen Morgan, WV 25813, USA. This address places it within the community of Glen Morgan, which is nestled in Raleigh County, West Virginia. For those of us living in West Virginia, its accessibility is generally good, as Glen Morgan is situated just a short distance from the larger city of Beckley, a major hub in Southern West Virginia.
Access to Hilltop RV and Mobile Home Park typically involves navigating local roads off of larger state routes that connect to Beckley. If you're coming from major interstates like I-64 or US Route 19, which pass directly through the Beckley area, the drive to Glen Morgan and then onto Windon Road would be relatively straightforward. The proximity to Beckley means residents and visitors have convenient access to a wide array of services, including shopping centers, grocery stores, hospitals, restaurants, and various entertainment options, providing a balance between peaceful country living and urban amenities.
However, it is crucial for prospective visitors, especially those with larger RVs (40 feet or more), to be aware of the road leading to the park. Some reviews explicitly mention the road as "narrow" and "really tight when encountering on coming traffic," even describing it as a "goat path" for very large rigs. While it's a "dead-end road," minimizing frequent opposing traffic, drivers of sizable RVs should exercise caution and be prepared for a tight squeeze, particularly if they meet another vehicle. This is an important consideration for navigation.
Despite the access road, the location in Glen Morgan itself offers a quiet and peaceful setting, away from the immediate highway noise. It provides a good base for exploring the surrounding natural attractions of Southern West Virginia, including parts of the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve, state parks like Little Beaver State Park, and cultural sites in Beckley. The overall accessibility, balanced with the need for careful navigation on the final approach, makes Hilltop RV and Mobile Home Park a viable option for those seeking a tranquil base in the region.

It is crucial for prospective residents and RVers to communicate directly with the park management about specific hookup details (e.g., amp service for RVs), the current condition of overhead lines, and any policies regarding noise (e.g., barking dogs, as mentioned in one review). Despite these individual concerns, the park aims to provide the fundamental services necessary for comfortable RV and mobile home living.

Hilltop RV and Mobile Home Park is a highly suitable option for West Virginians seeking a particular kind of living or visiting experience, especially for those who appreciate tranquility, space, and direct management interaction. Its appeal for locals stems from several key attributes that resonate with our state's values.
Firstly, the park's consistently praised "quiet, peaceful, and relaxing" location in Glen Morgan offers a genuine escape from the daily grind. For West Virginians who often value serenity and a connection to nature, this quiet setting provides an ideal environment for unwinding after work or enjoying a peaceful retirement. It's a place where you can truly feel at home and experience the calm that many seek in our "Almost Heaven" state.
Secondly, the "plenty big" RV sites are a significant advantage, especially for those of us with larger recreational vehicles. Navigating and setting up a sizable rig can be stressful, but the ample space at Hilltop ensures comfort and ease, removing a common point of frustration for RV owners. This attention to practical needs makes it a highly functional choice for both short-term stays while exploring nearby attractions like Beckley or the New River Gorge, and for longer-term parking.
Furthermore, the personal touch and responsiveness of the management team, Terry and Tony, are a big draw. Knowing that the owner and manager are "great to work with" provides a sense of security and community that is highly valued in our state. It suggests that residents' concerns are heard and addressed, fostering a more positive living or visiting experience than at parks with absentee ownership. This supportive environment can make a significant difference in the quality of life or vacation for locals.
While the narrow access road requires careful negotiation for larger RVs, for those willing to manage it, the reward is a tranquil, spacious, and well-managed park that caters to both temporary RVers and long-term mobile home residents. Hilltop RV and Mobile Home Park offers a true West Virginia welcome, providing a peaceful base to live or explore our beautiful state.

We visited Hilltop driving a 42-foot Class A RV, pulling a 20-foot trailer. Our RV site was plenty big to accommodate our rig. The owner, Terry, and the manager, Tony, are great to work with. The location is quiet, peaceful, and relaxing. The only reason I did not give a 5 rating was due to the narrow road leading to the campground. The road is ok but really tight when encountering on coming traffic. But being a dead-end road on coming was not a big issue.
Sep 13, 2024 · Larry CampbellVery difficult to drive the road to park/ mobile home park. If you have a 40 ft or more rv you too will have difficulty getting down the goat path. Owner never told us about any power or cable lines. We apparently hit one on the way out tore off the plumbing vent caps and may have damaged the solar panel and ac. Owner called to inform me that I tore it down and kept going. I did because I didn't see it or feel it until down the road I saw cable on the roof. All power lines etc by law have to be 14ft above ground. Clearly my rv is 13.6 so it couldn't have been properly installed. The lady in the mobile home next to my rv had a dog that she put on the porch when I arrived and he barked the entire time I was there .
Jun 25, 2024 · Guerry PhillipsI’m using a cabin and really enjoying it and would recommend it. Nice and tucked away so no city noises. They have a laundry facility as well. The bathrooms aren’t too far of a walk from the cabins. They have a public grill but I haven’t used it yet. Staff lives on site and he has been very nice, helpful and accommodating.
