Historically, this campground has been a familiar destination for many families over the years, drawn by its location and the traditional amenities expected of a large campground. The positive feedback regarding the office staff's friendliness is also a notable point, suggesting a welcoming initial impression upon arrival. For those prioritizing proximity to Virginia Beach's bustling tourist core and seeking a basic camping experience, the park's location remains a significant advantage.
However, it is imperative for local Virginians to consider the recent customer feedback that highlights significant concerns regarding the park's declining appearance, the presence of dilapidated long-term campers, reported issues with security and safety, and, most notably, highly negative comments about the owner's alleged attitude towards children. These factors are critical for potential visitors, especially families, to weigh heavily against the benefits of the park's location. While its central position in Virginia Beach is undoubtedly a strong draw, prospective campers from Virginia are strongly advised to contact the park directly with specific questions about current conditions, policies, and management's response to these noted concerns to ensure it aligns with their expectations for a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable camping experience.

We have been coming to this campground for at least 10 years. This trip was our last. The appearance had been declining for the past few years and is not getting better. The office staff have always been very friendly and welcoming but that is only good thing that I can say about the campground. The men at the gate are often rude and uninformed. The woman that owns the place is rude and couldn’t care less about the security and safety of her guests. There were several incidents Friday night that were reported directly to her and she did nothing. There was no security to be found. I am sure that there will be a major problem there due to the fact that there is no one overseeing events other than the people that just about live there. There are numerous dilapidated campers ( along with the broken down cars to go with them ) that live there full time which is definitely against city code. It’s sad to see what this campground has gone to and even sadder that this last trip has tarnished all of the good memories that our family and friends have experienced over the years.
May 05, 2025 · JENNY STAMBAUGHThe owners attitude was very rude as she made it clear that she didn't like children in her campground and she didn't want children to even camp there with their parents, she said her place is not Disney land and the children was only good for mischief. I wonder if the parents we seen with their children knew that she didn't like children? But evidently, she didn't mind taking the parents' money. I have a grandson who lives with us, I would never stay here with an owners attitude toward children!!
Jun 04, 2025 · Russell RobertsonVery nice place to stay, trolly pick up and drop off in the park, for easy access to the beach and restaurants. Clean rest rooms, golf cart rental. I had a great time here.
Jun 06, 2025 · Christopher HeiserThis was probably one of the most disgusting campgrounds I've ever stayed at. Only one bathroom open FILTHY, Cafe closed, squirrels getting in trash and it was everywhere. Observed staff driving by but did not pick up. Iciing on the cake, people fought from 11:20 pm until well after midnight cursing screaming. Not to mention dogs barkingboth nights. Could not wait to leave!
Apr 22, 2025 · Les DickersonArrived after Friday night after midnight, night guard was friendly and informative (but wearing what appeared to be a bullet proof vest, not what i was expecting but hey its the world today), set up quickly to reduce the noise for others sleeping. Saturday after our planned away activity, we took a walk around and the wife and my 2 kids went to the enclosed pool by the entrance, while she was holding open the door for them to enter she was instructed multiple times by an employee to close it, rudely I will add. Then to the "store", my wife and daughter(11) went in to take a look at the offerings in there, my daughter with her wallet IN HAND had picked out a necklace to purchase and was hanging from her fingers in the same hand as her wallet. The OWNER(as told by another staff member) insinuated she was attempting to steal the necklace and said that she needed to leave. We had one car that constantly drove around the same parts for HOURS while actively on FaceTime. Unsafe act in any instance while behind the wheel of a moving vehicle. Needless to say, this place was highly recommend to us by other experienced campers, yet we will not return due to the atmosphere of the staff, specifically the said "owner"
