For generations of Minnesota campers, the call of the Northwoods has led to the shores of Lake Vermilion, and for many, that journey ends at Hoodoo Point Campground. Located just outside the historic City of Tower, this beloved municipal campground is a premier, three-season destination that flawlessly combines exceptional access to one of the state's best lakes with a friendly, service-oriented atmosphere. It is renowned among locals for providing a perfect blend of rustic camping and essential modern amenities, making it ideal for everything from a weekend fishing trip to a full seasonal stay.
Hoodoo Point Campground offers a variety of experiences across its nearly 100 available sites, accommodating a wide spectrum of campers, from those in large motorhomes to tent-only enthusiasts. It has earned a reputation for being exceptionally well-kept and clean, thanks in part to dedicated management and staff, who are described by repeat visitors as "top notch" and "very responsive to guests needs." While the campground maintains a traditional, long-standing charm, it consistently focuses on delivering a quality stay, ensuring hot showers and a well-maintained environment—key details that truly matter to the local camping community. The primary draw remains its unparalleled access to the vast, 40,000-acre Lake Vermilion, recognized for world-class fishing, especially for walleye and muskie.

We love bringing our travel trailer here! It is an older campground but is very well kept! The water hookups can be located in odd spots so make sure to bring extra hose just in case. Some sites are all river rock which isn’t ideal with dogs so that is the only reason for 4 stars on “room” rating. The lake views are awesome though! Randy the campground manager is very nice and helpful! He is very responsive to guests needs! We stay here annually and absolutely love it!
Sep 13, 2025 · Megan SandellPeople complaining on here about the showers haven't seen bad showers camping. Go to a "family campground" down south to campgrounds that you have to pay with quarters if you want to see "gross" showers. Yeah the setup isn't ideal with the double stall but it isn't as bad as people wrote down on their reviews. It's camping! The hot water is hot and good enough to do what you have to do. The hosts have been nothing but top notch. Answered all our questions and have been super accommodating our whole stay. Even giving us heads up on severe weather coming in. The site was great but The rocks were a annoyance but understand the circumstances due to the flooding. Only a few sites were like that so I'll have to remember for next time!!
Jun 23, 2025 · FTWSecond time spending early July here. The hosts are awesome and make it a great experience every time. Coffee and wood delivered too! Spacious campgrounds and quiet!
Jul 20, 2025 · Melissa Netland"The most sought after site" is what was sold to us. We are tent campers, and there was not one patch of grass at our site # 34. The ground was so hard I bent two stakes trying to set up the tent. The bathrooms and showers are simply gross. Needless to say, we had to leave and we will not go back to this location.
May 29, 2025 · BeardsieThe configuration of the campsites is varied. Some are secluded, some look on the late and some with and without neighbors. No matter your spot its a very nice campground. Places for kids to play and swim and trails to walk.
