***Introduction / Overview***
For many Vermonters, the ideal escape doesn't involve long-distance travel, but rather a short trip into the heart of the Green Mountains for a change of pace. Horseshoe Acres Campground, nestled in the picturesque town of Andover, VT, offers just that: a return to the simple, relaxing rhythm of a classic camping vacation. Described by guests as an "older but beautiful" and "old fashioned" park, it appeals to those seeking an authentic, unhurried atmosphere away from the rush of modern life.
Horseshoe Acres is a family-friendly and pet-friendly destination that encourages community and relaxation. It successfully blends the tranquility of a natural setting with the fun of organized activities and great amenities. The park is well-known for its welcoming atmosphere, where both transient and seasonal campers quickly feel like part of the community. In fact, many guests rave about the genuine friendliness of the seasonal campers, who make newcomers feel instantly welcome, even joining them around Friday night campfires. With a focus on a slower pace and great service—like Phil's hard work ensuring the sound system is perfect for weekend entertainment—Horseshoe Acres Campground embodies the friendly, community-oriented spirit that Vermonters appreciate. It serves as an excellent home base for exploring the southern region of the Green Mountain National Forest and the charming local towns.
***Location and Accessibility***
Horseshoe Acres Campground is strategically located to offer a balance of secluded mountain atmosphere and convenient access to Southern Vermont’s attractions. The address is **1978 Weston, Weston-Andover Rd, Andover, VT 05143, USA**. The park is situated in the scenic Weston-Andover area, placing it in the southern part of the state, an easily reachable destination for many Vermont residents.
The campground’s location is a great gateway to outdoor adventure. It is just a short drive—approximately 20 minutes—from the expansive Green Mountain National Forest, offering endless opportunities for hiking, biking, and wildlife viewing. Nearby natural attractions include Lowell Lake State Park and Jamaica State Park, both perfect for boating, fishing, and scenic trails. For cultural excursions, the famous Weston Playhouse is only about a ten-minute drive away, and the Vermont Country Store provides a unique local shopping experience nearby. While the beautiful, wooded location means that cell service can be non-existent in certain areas of the park, the on-site Wi-Fi, especially near the office and main facilities, provides a reliable connection when needed. This natural separation from constant connectivity is, for many, part of the appeal of stepping back in time to truly relax and enjoy the setting.

I had a wonderful time this weekend with Jonie and Phil. I met some great people there. Shout out to Peter and Mary. Thanks for the dinner.... Phil was the one who worked hard to make sure that the sound system was correct. He even made it available to listen to the bands on 107.9 radio. Great job Phil 👏.
Aug 17, 2025 · Mary AmalbertStayed here with my wife and 2 dogs over a non-holiday weekend, July 2025. First time here and came with a travel trailer and stayed near the office/pool/etc.. Very nice wide sites. No cell service but wifi was great in our location. Seasonal's were so nice to us and our dogs and we made friends right away. Park is older but beautiful. Walked the entire park a couple times. Friday night seemed to be a time that Seasonal's hung out together at campfires and they made us feel welcome. Saturday night was a DJ with great music. We enjoyed it immensely. Overall, it is a great campground, a little older and old fashioned people and service. It's ok to step back in time, go a little slow and relax. If you keep that in mind, you will have a great time too. We will return for another weekend soon.
Jul 21, 2025 · Joe & SonIt's been three months since we were here and I often think about this place. The owners/family made us feel welcome when we were homesick and exhausted from traveling for the past few months. The activities that their full-timers host on the weekends are full of hilarity! The campground is pretty well maintained. The internet is the best internet experience that I've had at any campground. They loaned me a drill when mine decided to die. They had no issues with me receiving packages which was incredible because I needed to get caught up on regular life supplies and there were a lot of packages! We stayed here a month and toured the whole state. They gave me directions to the best sunset (MT Ascutney fyi). Told me the best place to buy groceries and get an oil change. Vermont is one of my favorite states now and most of it is due to this campground. If you need a peaceful place to stay you should choose this one! I'll always remember this place and maybe one day I'll get to come back. From the mom of five from Louisiana-thanks for everything!
Dec 10, 2024 · April BradleyMy parents own this place so I may be considered a biased reviewer. However, I can say with undisputed doubt that this is a great place to be for the summer. There is a pool, mini golf, hiking, at least 5 different playgrounds spread throughout, a pond where you can use provided paddle boats and there is a trout fishing derby once a year, beautiful streams and woods, and 97 acres of nature. I stayed for a weekend and didnt want to leave. There are options for weekend campers and seasonal campers.
Aug 12, 2024 · Christine SingerSpent one night while visiting in the area. The campground was off the beaten path. The owner was very friendly. The campground is on two sides of the highway. On one side is the office, playground, pool, and most of the campers are full-timers. Across the highway is a large building with restrooms and showers, another group of full-timers and room for other campers. If we were in the area we would consider spending another night.
