Caton Place Campground in Cavendish, VT, is just that—a welcoming, family-owned, and operated destination nestled in the picturesque foothills of the Green Mountains. This is a traditional, woodsy camping experience with all the necessary modern amenities, creating a perfect blend of natural retreat and community fun.
Open seasonally, typically from mid-May through mid-October, Caton Place caters to a variety of camping styles. Whether you travel in a large RV seeking a full hookup, prefer the simplicity of a tent site, or are looking for a long-term seasonal spot, there is a place for you here. The campground is known for its strong sense of community, friendly owners (Tammy and Jerry), and clean, well-maintained grounds. Many long-term seasonal residents call Caton Place home for the summer, creating a stable, welcoming environment where everyone is treated like a neighbor. You’ll find that the spirit of Vermont hospitality is alive and well here, from the helpful staff to the well-cared-for lots.
With beautiful views of Okemo Mountain and a setting that feels sufficiently distanced from the daily grind, Caton Place Campground is an ideal basecamp for exploring the scenic attractions of Southern Vermont. It's a place where you can relax by your own fire pit, gather with fellow campers for a community bonfire, or easily head out to explore the famed Route 100 corridor.
Caton Place Campground is conveniently situated at 2419 E Rd, Cavendish, VT 05142, USA. This location places it squarely in the heart of Southern Vermont’s recreational and scenic hotspots. A key draw for many campers is its superb proximity to the vibrant town of Ludlow, home to Okemo Mountain Resort, which is just about an eight-minute drive away.
Being so close to Ludlow means easy access to a wealth of activities, including dining, shopping, the Okemo Adventure Zone (featuring mountain coasters, ziplines, and more), and a range of local businesses. Furthermore, the campground is strategically located near Vermont’s famed scenic Route 100, opening up easy day trips to other popular destinations like the Calvin Coolidge Historic Site at Plymouth Notch, the unique shops of Weston, and numerous state parks for hiking and water activities.
The setting within Cavendish is woodsy and spacious, with sites that are a comfortable distance apart, offering a good balance of privacy and community. While the campground is in a rural setting, cell service is available and generally reliable, with many campers noting that an AT&T signal in particular performs well. For internet connectivity, while Wi-Fi is advertised, local users recommend bringing a cell booster or utilizing personal hot spots for more consistent streaming or remote work, as the campground’s general Wi-Fi signal can be weak for demanding tasks.
Caton Place Campground is equipped with the necessary infrastructure and convenience services to ensure a comfortable and hassle-free camping stay, whether you are staying for a weekend or a whole season.
The experience at Caton Place is defined by its friendly atmosphere and the availability of amenities that cater to families and social gatherings. It’s a place that fosters a genuine campground community.
For reservations, seasonal rates, or inquiries about the current camping season schedule (typically May to October), contact the friendly owners, Tammy and Jerry, directly.

Caton Place is uniquely suitable for locals because it offers the peace of a woodsy setting and the convenience of being just minutes from the dining and recreational resources of Ludlow and the expansive travel opportunities provided by Route 100. It’s perfect for families looking for a weekend escape with built-in activities like the pool and playground, or for RV owners seeking a reliable, friendly, and pet-friendly seasonal spot to call their summer home. We stayed a month in August in a 30’ trailer. The setting is woodsy which we like. It’s a large campground with mostly seasonals but there are spaces for short-termers, too. There’s a playground, pool, showers & laundry. We didn’t use any of those facilities but we could see the pool & playground from our site & they looked well maintained. It’s a pet-friendly campground with sites that are a nice distance apart. Firewood for sale for personal use & there’s a bonfire every Saturday night, whole campground invited. Wifi is advertised but we found it to be a weak signal even for simple things like checking email or using Google. AT&T signal was 2 bars 5G inside our trailer w/o cell booster. Once we hooked up our cell booster, we got 4 bars 5G. We found it more reliable to use hot spots for connectivity rather than relying on campground Wifi. No issues with power, water or sewer. Owners Tammy & Jerry are helpful. Free brochures in the office for sightseeing trips. Campground is 8 min from Ludlow & VT’s famed route 100. Lots to see & do in VT! We’d go back if we’re ever in the area again. Campground open from May-Oct. check website for details.
Sep 23, 2025 · Debbi SmithWe stayed at Caton Place for a month while visiting Vermont. Beautiful area of the state. Honestly, the whole state is beautiful, though. The majority of the park is seasonal residents, who all take good care of their lot and rig. Everyone was very nice. We were placed in a grassy area with other folks who were not seasonal. These sites were slanted, but not enough where you can't level the rig. Power and water were good. Staff is friendly. Nice playground and pool. We were here in July and a lot of the people decorated their sites for Christmas in July which I thought was hilarious.
Jul 30, 2025 · Andrew SandsA friend and I were riding the length of Vermont on bikes and we got there starved and beaten. Tammy offered to drive to Springfield and pick up dinner for us because we looked so pathetic, and we did. She saved the day! Showers, campfire, food and a real toilet were greatly appreciated. She and her husband were great hosts in a lovely area. Thanks so much!

The overall atmosphere is outstandingly welcoming and comfortable. EVERYTHING we look for as we are camping. We became seasonals Memorial Day weekend and don’t regret a thing! You really make a lot of lifelong friends camping, our kids absolutely love meeting new people and playing in the pool and playground. Bands are so much fun and outdoor movie nights! So much fun ! We LOVE it here! 100% recommend!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Jul 15, 2024 · Crystal MillerTammy was so incredibly wonderful to my friend and I who were on a bicycle trip. She took it upon herself to get us food and bring it to us at our site! All facilities were very well kept. Thanks again!!!
