As a primitive campground, Kitching Creek focuses on providing essential services for backpackers rather than extensive amenities. The services are designed to support self-sufficient camping while offering critical necessities:
- Clean Privy: Reviews specifically highlight that the "Privy was clean," which is a significant amenity for a primitive campsite. This refers to a basic, outdoor toilet facility, essential for hygiene in remote areas.
- Water Availability: "Water was available," often from a pitcher pump. It's crucial to note, as advised by campers, that this "water filtered and treated" before consumption. This emphasizes the self-reliance aspect of primitive camping.
- Trash Receptacle: The presence of a "trash receptacle" is a valuable service, allowing campers to properly dispose of waste and adhere to Leave No Trace principles, helping to keep the wilderness clean.
- Fire Ring: Each campsite is equipped with a fire ring, allowing campers to safely build campfires for warmth, cooking, and ambiance (check for fire bans before lighting a fire).
- Picnic Benches: The camp spots include picnic benches, providing a designated and convenient surface for meal preparation and dining.
- Designated Camp Spots: While primitive, the campground has clearly defined camp spots, ensuring order and minimizing environmental impact.
- Trail Access: The primary "service" of Kitching Creek Campground is its integral role as a primitive campsite along segments of the Florida Trail, including the Ocean to Lake Trail, providing a crucial overnight stop for long-distance hikers.

As a primitive campground within a Florida State Park, Kitching Creek Campground does not typically offer commercial "promotions" in the traditional sense. Its value is inherent in providing access to a unique wilderness experience at an affordable state park fee. Any "offers" would be related to the general Florida State Parks fee structure:
- Standard Primitive Camping Fees: There will be a set nightly fee for primitive camping, which is generally lower than full-hookup sites. This fee contributes to the maintenance of the site and trails.
- Florida State Parks Annual Pass: For frequent visitors to Florida State Parks, an annual pass can provide savings on park entry fees, though primitive camping fees would still apply.
- Senior and Disabled Citizen Discounts: Eligible Florida residents who are seniors or have disabilities may qualify for specific discounts on camping or entrance fees, according to state regulations. It is always recommended to verify the most current fee structure and any applicable discounts directly with Jonathan Dickinson State Park or the Florida State Parks reservation system.
Primitive campsites like Kitching Creek are often first-come, first-served or require reservations directly through the park ranger station. It's wise to contact the park in advance, especially for overnight trips, as capacity is limited. Customer Reviews
This was our first camp spot during our Ocean to Lake Trail hike . Privy was clean, water was available " we filtered it and treated it " and there was a trash receptacle. The camp spot itself had a fire ring and picnic benches. What more could a backpacker ask for.
Peaceful and safe. A 2 mile hike from the parking lot.
