Whether you're passing through, visiting family in the area, or looking for a temporary base, Lakeway RV Resort aims to provide a functional place to park your recreational vehicle.
Lakeway RV Resort operates with a distinctive "old school" approach, emphasizing an honor system for payments and site selection, which can appeal to those who appreciate a less formal, more trusting environment. While it is located near a highway, offering easy access, guests can expect a no-frills experience focused on providing the fundamental necessities for RV travelers in a clean and accessible setting. It’s a place for those who prioritize practical facilities and a direct approach to RV park management.
Lakeway RV Resort is conveniently located at 12100 US-175, Kemp, TX 75143, USA. This address places it directly on a major highway, US-175, which offers excellent accessibility for RVers traveling through or to the East Texas region. Kemp itself is a small town in Kaufman County, offering a gateway to the broader Cedar Creek Lake area, known for its natural beauty and recreational opportunities.
For Texans, the park's location on US-175 ensures a straightforward drive from various major metropolitan areas. From the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, it's approximately a 1 to 1.5-hour drive southeast, directly via US-175. For those coming from the Houston area, the journey typically takes around 3 to 3.5 hours, generally involving I-45 North and then connecting to US-175. The direct highway access means minimal navigation challenges for large RVs.
One review notes that "The park is off the highway so there is a little noise from traffic." This is a common characteristic of RV parks located directly on major thoroughfares, offering ease of access at the trade-off of some ambient road noise. Despite this, the location is practical for quick stopovers or for those who plan to spend their days exploring the surrounding area, including Cedar Creek Lake, which is just a short drive away. Its clear visibility from the highway and easy pull-in access make it a convenient choice for RV travelers.
- Full Hook-up Sites: The park offers sites with full hook-ups, typically including connections for electricity (30/50 amp), water, and sewer, essential for modern RVs.
- Pull-thru Sites: Availability of "easy pull-thru sites" simplifies parking for larger RVs, allowing for convenient entry and exit without extensive maneuvering.
- Laundry Room: A communal laundry room is available for guests to use, including washing and drying facilities at "very reasonable" prices.
- Honor System Payment: The park operates on an "old school" "honor system" for payments, where guests can find an open site, park, and then make payment by placing money in an envelope in a black box.
- Restroom and Shower Facilities (Contradictory Information): While one review notes "restroom hardly ever have toilet paper and half time showers and toilets are nasty and has bugs and cockroachea in clubhouse and bugs in showers very poorly kept," another review praises the park as "clean." This indicates a disparity in guest experiences regarding the upkeep of these specific facilities.
- On-site Owner Interaction (Contradictory Information): Reviews suggest direct interaction with the owner, "Rusty," who is described as "friendly and accommodating" by one, but as having a "real ass trying get in my face cuzing at me" by another. This highlights varying experiences with management communication and approachability.
- Pet Policy (Contradictory Information): One review mentions a policy regarding "pit dog" breeds that led to the reviewer needing to remove their English Pointer, while noting other guests with "pits" stayed. This indicates a potentially inconsistent or selectively enforced pet policy.
- Convenient Pull-Thru Sites: The "easy pull-thru sites" are a significant highlight, offering hassle-free parking for all types of RVs, particularly beneficial for larger rigs.
- Full Hook-ups: The provision of full hook-ups ensures that RVers have access to all necessary utilities for a comfortable stay.
- Affordable Laundry Facilities: The "very reasonable" prices for washing and drying in the laundry room are a practical and appreciated feature for guests.
- Honor System Operations: The "old school and on the honor system" approach to check-in and payment offers a unique, trusting, and low-fuss experience for many campers.
- Friendly Fellow Campers: One review notes that "Others staying there were kind, friendly, and helpful," suggesting a generally welcoming community among guests.
- Accessibility to US-175: Its direct location on a major highway makes it highly accessible for travelers on the go, reducing navigation time and complexity.
- Potential for Seclusion (Limited by Highway Noise): While on a highway, the direct access and the "honor system" nature might appeal to those who prefer minimal interaction and a focus on self-service, despite the ambient traffic noise.
Specific, publicly advertised promotions or special offers for Lakeway RV Resort were not available within the provided information. Given the park's "old school and on the honor system" approach, traditional promotional marketing might not be their primary method. However, RV parks commonly offer various incentives, which could potentially include:
- Weekly or Monthly Rates: For extended stays, many RV parks offer discounted weekly or monthly rates compared to daily rates, which could be beneficial for those visiting family or staying longer in the area.
- Off-Peak Season Discounts: During less busy times of the year, some parks might offer reduced rates to attract guests.
- Return Guest Incentives: While not explicitly stated, some parks reward loyalty for repeat visitors.
Due to the unique "honor system" and the owner's communication style as described in the reviews, it is highly recommended that interested Texans contact Lakeway RV Resort directly via phone. While one reviewer noted a day or two for return calls, direct communication remains the best way to inquire about current rates, availability, and any potential deals or arrangements that might be available. It's advisable to be prepared for a less formal booking process consistent with their operating philosophy.

While this style might lead to varied experiences with communication and facility upkeep as highlighted in conflicting reviews, it provides a unique option for those who prefer more independence in their camping arrangements.
Its direct location on US-175, while introducing some traffic noise, ensures excellent accessibility, making it an ideal choice for locals needing a quick stopover or a temporary base for regional exploration. Customer Reviews
We recently stayed a week at this RV park while we were in town visiting family. It's a clean park, with easy pull-thru sites and full hook-ups. Others staying there were kind, friendly, and helpful. We used the laundry room to wash our bedspreads. The price for washing and drying was very reasonable. The park is off the highway so there is a little noise from traffic. Rusty, the owner, was friendly and accommodating on our phone calls. It did take a day or two for him to return calls, but we had no problem with that. He does business old school and on the honor system. We found a site open and parked. We then made payment by placing our money in an envelope and putting it in the black box at the main building. We would recommend staying here.
I've stayed here for over a year started out good then the owner became a real ass trying get in my face cuzing at me in front of my grand kid then try turn electric off knowing I have my grandkid thy are rude and hateful he don't rember wht u tell him r wht he say to u thy change codes on shower and stuff there u don't get told nothing there alot of partiality he has his favorites if he don't like u then ur gone he said if u have pit dog need move but there was 3 pple tht I know of had pits thy stayed I had English porter had get rid of her to stay there restroom hardly ever have toilet paper and half time showers and toilets are nasty and has bugs and cockroachea in clubhouse and bugs in showers very poorly kept this is the worst place to stay i have told everyone don't stay here
Would have liked to stay here. But the Trump flag flying at the entrance to the park makes me think that I am not welcome. They must not mind turning away customers. We will keep driving.
Todd, who over sees the park is a nosey human being with no manners. The park has gone down hill sense rusty allowed Todd to over see the park. So much so many of us like myself have moved away. Rusty this is for you all your higher end tenants left because of him. When I say higher end the ones that who helped clean up was never late rent. You’ll be losing more people soon rusty they can’t deal with Todd anymore. It’s facts he causes issues and harassed my wife. That was my last draw
The reason why I say a 5 star cause my friends live there and I’m going to move there too by the end of the month
