Lone Star RV Park About
When planning your next RV adventure or seeking a long-term home base in the vast expanse of Texas, the choice of RV park can profoundly impact your experience. From the quiet serenity of rural settings to the convenience of city-adjacent locations, Texas offers a diverse array of options. For those considering a stop in the Central Texas region, specifically in or around Baird, Lone Star RV Park might appear on your radar. Located in a small town with a strong community feel, Baird offers a different pace of life compared to the bustling cities, appealing to those who appreciate a simpler, more relaxed environment.
However, making an informed decision about your RV park is crucial, and understanding the real-world experiences of other RVers can provide invaluable insights. Lone Star RV Park, situated in Baird, Texas, has been mentioned in local discussions and online reviews, painting a picture that warrants a closer look. This article aims to provide a clear, factual, and engaging overview of Lone Star RV Park, drawing directly from publicly available information and customer feedback. We'll explore its location, the services it purports to offer, and, perhaps most importantly, what current and past residents have shared about their stays. For any Texan RVer, whether you're a seasoned traveler or just starting your journey, this detailed perspective will help you weigh your options and decide if Lone Star RV Park aligns with your expectations for comfort, convenience, and reliability.
Lone Star RV Park is located at 1100 Walnut St, Baird, TX 79504, USA. Baird is a small, historical city in Callahan County, Texas, positioned strategically along Interstate 20, a major east-west thoroughfare that crosses a significant portion of Texas. This location offers a certain degree of accessibility for travelers, making it a potential stopover point for those on longer journeys across the state. Being in Baird means residents can experience the charm of a smaller Texas town, often characterized by a slower pace of life, friendly locals, and a sense of community that can be appealing to many RVers seeking a departure from urban congestion.
The park's address on Walnut Street suggests it's situated within the town itself, likely providing some ease of access to local services like gas stations, a general store, or perhaps a local diner. While Baird itself is not a major metropolitan area, its proximity to larger cities like Abilene (approximately 20-30 miles to the west) means that more extensive amenities, including larger grocery stores, diverse dining options, hospitals, and entertainment venues, are within a reasonable driving distance. This can be a benefit for long-term residents who might need to commute for work or desire more varied shopping and leisure activities. For those prioritizing a quiet, less crowded environment with reasonable access to bigger city resources, Baird's location for Lone Star RV Park could be considered a mixed bag – offering peace but requiring travel for broader services.
Based on publicly available information and direct customer feedback, Lone Star RV Park aims to provide essential services for RVers. However, it is important to note that the reliability and quality of these services have been subject to critical review.
- Water Hookups: The park reportedly offers water connections at its RV spots. However, customer reviews indicate frequent issues, with reports of water being shut off due to maintenance or other problems, sometimes for extended periods, and residents having to perform repairs themselves.
- Sewer Hookups: While not specifically detailed in the provided reviews, full hookups typically include sewer connections for waste disposal. No specific issues regarding sewer hookups were highlighted in the provided reviews, but the general pattern of utility interruptions suggests potential for varied experiences.
- Electricity Hookups (30 and 50 amp): The park is equipped with electrical hookups. A significant concern raised by multiple customers is the recurring issue of power being disconnected due to "nonpayment," leading to prolonged outages and inconvenience for residents.
- Wi-Fi Access: Wi-Fi is listed as an amenity. However, reviews strongly suggest that the Wi-Fi service is unreliable, often non-functional, and has required residents to troubleshoot and even incur personal expenses to get it working.
- Trash Service: One review explicitly states "No trash service," indicating that residents may need to manage their own waste disposal or that a communal system is not consistently available or managed.
Based on the provided customer feedback, the features and highlights of Lone Star RV Park, particularly from the perspective of residents, are largely overshadowed by reported deficiencies in basic services and management responsiveness.
- Individual RV Spots: The park provides individual spaces for RVs, though the condition of these sites, including leveling and surrounding environment, may vary. One review noted an unlevel site.
- Proximity to Sister Park (Sundance RV): Lone Star RV Park is noted as a "sister park" to Sundance RV. This implies a shared ownership or management, and unfortunately, the issues reported at Lone Star appear to be mirrored at Sundance RV as well, according to customer feedback.
- Adjacent Restaurant: One older, more positive review from a different source mentioned a good restaurant being adjacent and within walking distance, which could be a convenient feature for some.
- "Bare Bones" / Overnight Stay Potential: Some reviews, again from different sources not provided here, describe it as a "bare bones" park suitable for a quick, self-serve overnight stay if only basic hookups are needed and one is prepared for potential issues. The provided reviews, however, strongly caution against any stay.
- Self-Serve Payment Option: An older, external review mentioned a self-serve payment system (putting money in a red post), suggesting a more hands-off approach to guest management.
There is no public information or mention in the provided customer reviews regarding any promotions or special offers at Lone Star RV Park. Given the critical nature of the customer feedback, which points to significant issues with basic amenities and management, it is unlikely that the park would be actively promoting special offers at this time. The focus of the reviews is on fundamental operational problems rather than incentives for staying.
Prospective campers considering Lone Star RV Park should prioritize direct communication with the park to inquire about current rates, availability, and to specifically address any concerns raised in customer reviews about service reliability before making a commitment. While many RV parks offer discounted rates for weekly or monthly stays, or seasonal promotions, there is no indication that such offers are currently a feature of Lone Star RV Park's appeal. Any decision to stay would need to be made with a full understanding of the reported challenges.
For any inquiries regarding Lone Star RV Park, including questions about availability, rates, or to discuss any concerns you might have after reviewing public feedback, you can contact them directly using the following information:

It is important to note that customer reviews mention difficulties in reaching the management by phone, with one reviewer explicitly stating, "you can’t ever get them on the phone." Given this feedback, it is advisable to be persistent when attempting to make contact and to prepare a list of specific questions about utility reliability, property maintenance, and management responsiveness. Direct communication remains the primary way to confirm any details before planning a stay at Lone Star RV Park.
Based on the provided customer reviews, it is difficult to identify strong points that would make Lone Star RV Park a suitable or recommended option for locals in Texas, or indeed for any RV traveler. The feedback paints a consistently negative picture, highlighting significant and recurring issues with fundamental services that are essential for a comfortable and reliable RV stay.
Texans, like all RV enthusiasts, rely on consistent access to water, electricity, and functional Wi-Fi, along with responsive management and a well-maintained environment. The reviews for Lone Star RV Park, however, indicate severe shortcomings in all these areas. Reports of frequent and prolonged water outages due to infrastructure damage (often caused by park maintenance) that residents have to fix themselves, regular electricity disconnections due to alleged non-payment by the park, and virtually non-existent Wi-Fi are critical failures for any RV park. Furthermore, the description of the park being "only mowed and cleaned up when the owner is coming into town" and the property manager's reported unresponsiveness and dishonesty suggest a lack of consistent care and professional oversight. The shared negative experiences across Lone Star and its sister park, Sundance RV, further reinforce these concerns.
While the location in Baird offers a quiet, small-town atmosphere and proximity to Abilene, the severe and chronic operational issues described by multiple customers would negate any potential benefits of the location. For Texans seeking a reliable, comfortable, and well-managed RV park for either short-term stays or long-term residency, the information available strongly suggests that other RV parks in the Abilene and Clyde areas, which have received more positive and consistent reviews regarding their amenities and management, would be far more suitable choices. A positive RV experience, especially for locals who might use the park regularly or for extended periods, hinges on basic reliability and a responsive management team – qualities that are unfortunately not evident in the current public feedback for Lone Star RV Park. Therefore, based on the provided data, Lone Star RV Park is not recommended for Texans seeking a dependable or enjoyable RV community.
Customer Reviews
If it was possible to give negative 5 star I wouldn’t hesitate, Lonestar RV and Sundance Rv are sister parks, At both park they are only mowed and cleaned up when the owner is coming into town. When they do come out and decide to half way mow they hit the water connection on the Rv spot, After they shut off the water they have the residence go two more more days without fixing it or they would wait until the residents got so fed up with going without water the residents would fix the water connection. The power would always be turned off due to nonpayment which would take hours for them to pay the bill to have it reconnected, as far as the wifi the only time it works is when the residents would have to go figure out why it wasn’t working then go spend there own money to fix it just to have Wi-Fi. Mary the property manager doesn’t like to get out of the office of the RV, she lies about almost everything to get whatever she need accomplished, t, I would never stay at either one of these park ever again.
Do not stay here if you enjoy amenities! Rude and you can’t ever get them on the phone. Constant electricity issues, wifi issues and broken water lines. Went with out water 2 days when we first got there. Go into Abilene or Clyde. Same thing at the sister park Sundance Rv
Very quiet 🤫 Clean sites , easy to enter the interstate 🛣 and close to coffee shop , Equally great for a over night stay or a more permanent living -
I have had an absolutely fantastic experience with this place and the park manager Mary! I would recommend this place to anyone come through for a short visit or long term!
Can't speak much for the place itself as far as cleanliness or anything to that matter cuz I've never stayed there but as far as their customer service goes over the phone the lady I talked to was very short rude and not helpful at all and would not listen to anything that I was trying to tell her and after just a couple minutes of being on the phone with her she hung up if it was me I give two thumbs down and would not go to this place ever or recommend it to anybody just because of that but that's just me I can't speak for anybody else so I would say it's up to you you choose and you're right on your own
